Seems to handle upconversion of DVDs well to a big screen. Decent selection of streaming options, although it seems to only handle 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks. While probably a plus from a stability and range standpoint, if you have a lot of devices going, you might lose performance on HD programming.

I bought it also because it includes streaming of Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, Pandora, and many other streaming services. The only issue I have had with it so far is that it has streaming issues with Netflix mostly and some with Amazon and Hulu. The problem is that it keeps shutting down. I have also found that it wants to lock up and I wind up having to unplug the unit a lot and plug it back in to basically reboot the system and get the unit to start working again. When it locks up it won't turn on or off. Very frustrating. At least so far I have not run into issues with any Blu-ray or DVD playback. I now am seeing a lot of similar complaints about Sony Blu-ray players on the internet. Seems to me this has been an ongoing problem than that Sony has not bothered to fix for quite some time and they really need to get with the program and fix the streaming issues. Because of the streaming problems and the unit locking up I can't in all good faith give this unit a better rating. Since they haven't bothered to fix these issues I will be doing more research the next time I go shopping for a Blu-ray player and I doubt I'll be buying another Sony product.

Our old one died after 6 years and I was missing my Netflix badly so went to Best Buy and looked at new Blu-Ray Players. The helpful people there convinced me to get the Sony model and I just love it. So much better than my old that I'm glad it died. Plays my DVDs and streams my Netflix better than my old one. A plus was I can watch my music videos on you-tube through it also! Yeah!

I was looking for something dependable and easy to use. This player fit the bill perfectly. When attached to their TV via an HDMI cable, simply inserting a DVD started the whole viewing process. The TV would immediately swap to the DVD feed; my mother didn't have to spend time trying to figure out how to cue the movie. Super sharp images too. Good choice, and easy to install/use.

I read the reviews and took the plunge and not disappointed. It powers on fast (when you have the quick-on mode set), the display is top quality either from streaming or a disc. The apps user interface is a little clunky otherwise I would have given this 5 stars. The wifi seems to work great although I have a very strong router in my house and this is in our master bedroom which is just about the router.
