The mediums are good enough to be impressive when they work and there aren't many reasons failure. The gui is the clunky but familiar Sony, easy enough for anyone to use but annoyingly laid out when one has odd characters necessary for passwords or logins. It's also not going to solve any network issues you might have either but assuming you don't have any issues with yours this player utilizes Netflix, YouTube and Amazon quite well and I've never had any slow downs, pauses or frozen screens that weren't obviously the cable company's issue. A great player per dollar on the table especially when you "program" it's remote to operate the basic tv functions on the tv its hooked up to. This lets my mother in law use her back room tv for streaming and movies and she loves that it's one remote operation! Then, when it dies or glitches out in 18-24 months buy another, more recent model.

My First Blue Ray

I have yet to use it's ability to access online movies because I haven't joined Netflix or other online sevice. The quality of picture with this DVD player is excellent and seems to be limited only by my television's ability to show it.
