This player does exactly what i wanted it to do, play dual layer blue ray discs with no problem, it has a bunch of apps as well which i also use like MLB TV to watch past games, so yes i would definitely recommend this player to a friend. i also bought this as an open box item and it is fantastic no problems

Blu Ray player works better than any others I have owned. Very fast startup and doesn't require constant updating. The wifi works without any problems. The only downside is it only has one coaxial audio output, no optical and no rca output. This is an issue of you have an older stereo receiver like myself or are connecting to a projector without audio output.

This is a great blu-ray player for me. I primarily use it to stream Hulu, Netflix, Amazon, Pandora, etc. i bought the same model 4 years ago and I was shocked to see the now-compact and simplified design. At first I thoght it was not "as good" because of that; now I appreciate the scaled-back siize which, of course, doesn't change the effectiveness of the product.

Very easy to install. My spouse was surprised to see she could use her Amazon prime membership to order things and watch movies.. It fit right in with our other electronics that we under the tv.

Player was very easy to set up and use right out of the box. There are a number of apps that you can choose from and very easy to download. I would recommend this unit for anyone that is looking for an easy unit to operate with a large number of viewing options that can be selected from for immediate use.

I bought this solely for the smart apps, and was surprised at how the features were upgraded. Much easier to navigate on Netflix & Amazon prime than my previous Sony. Will probably purchase another to upgrade an older one in another room.

The Sony BDP3500 Blu-Ray player is a great device. The Wi-Fi has a strong signal strength & is stable with a long range making Ethernet unnecessary within reason. It plays every conceivable format down to burned music MP3 audio CD's. It up scales DVD. Plus more. Why I rated it 4 stars & not 5 is because of the dated GUI/Operating System's sluggish & mostly clunky layout & bare bones with what I found to be unusable app streaming choices. It does include a dedicated Netflix button. I feel Sony dropped the ball while missing out on the opportunity to include some great, diverse streaming channels. Sometimes more is less. It has all the mainstream "safe" apps along with mostly unknowns & fails in what it could have been, an otherwise outstanding media beast for someone who does not need 4K upscaling. I am pleased for what it's main feature is: to play optical media, in with what I consider Sony to have the best solution excelling as a stand alone Blu-Ray player...

This small unit displays a great quality picture with ease of use.

The feature that drew me to this player was the fact it was wifi connected. No more countless hours truing to download the latest firmware update to my computer and then to a jump drive and then to my bluray player. All done wirelessly now. WHEW....should have done it sooner, would have had less headaches.

This Blu-ray player has been very satisfactory with no issues to report. The streaming apps respond very quickly by WiFi. This is even better considering it was an added value free item promotion when I purchased the Sony sound bar.

I got the product with a good deal. I am loving watching online stuffs through inbuilt apps. I enjoyed harnessing the capability of this blue ray player. Mircast is nice feature to mirror the cellphone directly on tv. I would have certainly given 5 rating if it would have cast my laptop online programs wireless like Chromecast. I am happy to buy it.

this is an awesome blu ray very reasonably priced ez to set up

I bought this to replace an older dvd player. I liked the Wi-Fi streaming abilities. It works great with my Sony TV, and the remote works both the TV and the player. It was pretty much plug and play, no setup required, and super easy to input the existing Netflix, Hulu and Prime accounts to use.
