Much improved sound quality With the Bar 8 and the Sony Sub woofer. Mounted Direct tv and Apple TV behind my 85 inch Sony Bravia wall mounted tv. Cleaned up inside cabinet below tv and now more speaker on floor and the center on top of cabinet. Geeks guys mounted sound bar under tv. Great sound and setup. Hit a sale and saved.

An absolutely abysmal product

Nothing but constant issues from the getgo. I got distorting flatulance sound coming out of speaker and sw5 subwoofer, as well as cutouts on the rear rs5 speakers. I updated it to the latest firmware and even went through all the diagnostic steps which include resetting my router. I even tried it on another network and again, same issues. Sony pins the blame on my wireless network. However my network is top notch (verizon fios gigabit) with no issues with any other products, including my other soundbars from Samsung and Bose. Sound quality is mediocre at best. Surround effects and atmos bubble is decent. However, dialogue is absolute trash. Simply terrible and worse than some old cheap soundbars that I have used in the past. Bass is non existent and music quality is total garbage. If I could give this soundbar negative stars, I would.

Very much worth the upgrade price. Purchased it to see if the new Voice Zoom was as good as the hype. We have to say it is. Voices are much clearer/cleaner/easier to understand as compared to the HT-A3000. Other sound effects of the Bar 8 are much better than the A3000. Using the Bar 8 stand-a-alone: no extra rear speakers or subwoofer. The Bar 8 is connected to a Sony XR-75X90K & all works well.

As other reviews mention, to setup the aoundbar you must download the app and setup an account. I am HDMI-ARC connected to my Sony Bravia 75 in. Once you go through all the sound setups you dont need to use the app.

There's better for cheaper
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this for the entire Bravia package, which included OLED Tv, Soundbar, Subwoofer, Wireless speakers. This sound bar is the most disappointing part of the lineup. Setup was easy for me, but considering 90% of setup had to be completed in the app (which is not clear on any manual) I don't see this as a convenient option for most users. Sound optimization is terrible, extremely minimal tweeks available. It's great on how plug and play it is with the Bravia TVs, but for how little options are included for the price, theres a lot to be desired. Hooked up to the wireless surround speakers, I have to use my phone's microphone for optimization (which I have to problem with) but it created an extremely dissatisfing sound, no matter what configuration I had this in. For comparison, my HT-A7000 (Which I paid nearly half the price for) has the "same amount of speakers" but is a much better sound system. Surround speakers sounded much better, has better configuration options, and has its settings interface accessable from the unit rather than exclusively through a smartphone.

So close to being perfect

Placed on the right hutch or on a wall, it's barely noticeable. This is where the positive ends. I'm one of the few that prefers no screen on the soundbar. Connecting to my A80J, I thought a Sony product connected to another would be perfect and easy. It's anything but. After connecting this soundbar, my TV became slow to respond to any input from the TV remote. Adjusting the volume takes forever. After disconnecting the soundbar, the TV returned back to its normal status, volume up/down is quick along with cycling through menus. Something about this soundbar taxes the TV's resources. The Wi-Fi audio connectivity to Spotify and others needs work. This is by far the worst part of the soundbar. Music through the TV works better. For example, listening to Spotify at volume 50 through just the soundbar, turning off the soundbar, then later returning to power on the TV turns Spotify back on and playing the last track at volume 50. It's a jarring experience, especially after not being in the living room for a few hours. The proprietary EQ is good for the masses but sometimes slight adjustments are needed. It would be nice for Sony to provide an option to provide a minimum 5 band EQ in later versions. Please do better, Sony. This coming from a household that uses all Sony TVs and portable devices for many decades.
