Q: Questionis this compatible with any TV(1 answer)
A: AnswerHi billy, thanks for your question. The HTA8000 is compatible with TVs that have an HDMI (eARC/ARC) connection. Additional information: It also has S-CENTER OUT jack, outputs the center part of the soundbar sound from a TV if the soundbar is connected to the TV with the S-CENTER SPEAKER IN jack. You need to check your TV if it has the said ports for compatibility. You can check this link for more details: https://helpguide.sony.net/ht/208283c/v1/en/contents/003_Bar_Speaker.html https://helpguide.sony.net/ht/208283c/v1/en/contents/014_S-CENTER_SPEAKER_IN_Jack.html BRAVIA Theatre Bar 8 combines physical and phantom speakers, creating a wider surround sound field that covers more of the room. - A: AnswerHi Deep, Thank you for reaching us with your concern. Yes, your understanding is mostly correct, but let me clarify the steps for connecting your Sony BRAVIA XR A95L TV to the Sony BRAVIA Theater Bar 8 for optimal audio performance: 1. Connect an HDMI IN jack compatible with eARC/ARC on the TV and the HDMI OUT (TV (eARC/ARC)) jack on the speaker system using the HDMI cable (supplied). If you are facing the back of the bar speaker, the HDMI OUT jack is located inside the right indented area. It is on the side wall of the indented area and marked with three tactile dots. 2. Change the TV settings so that TV sound can be output from the speaker system. Depending on your TV, this may be set automatically when the speaker system is connected. For details, refer to the operating instructions of your TV. 3. Enable eARC on both the speaker system and the TV. If the TV that is connected to the speaker system is compatible with eARC/ARC, the eARC function is available. To enjoy higher quality audio formats such as Dolby Atmos played on an external device connected to the TV, check that the eARC setting is enabled on the speaker system and TV. eARC setting for the TV: Refer to the operating instructions of your TV. eARC setting for the speaker system: The setting is enabled by default. Note: Check that the connectors are firmly inserted. If the speaker system is not connected to the eARC/ARC-compatible HDMI input of the TV, the TV sound cannot be output from the speaker system. Enable the Control for HDMI function on the TV. If the Control for HDMI function on the TV is not enabled, the speaker system does not output TV sound. By enabling the eARC function on the TV, some features on the TV may become limited. For instance, system sounds and voice response may not be output. For details, refer to the operating instructions of your TV. Hope this information helps! If you need further assistance or have additional concerns, may we contact you directly? - A: AnswerHi sandiphi, Thank you for reaching out and sharing your experience with the Sony BRAVIA Theater Bar 8! The sound quality you’re experiencing could be influenced by a few factors. To optimize your audio performance, we recommend adjusting the sound settings on your soundbar: Go to Sound settings > Auto DRC > Off. The Auto DRC (Dynamic Range Compression) compresses the dynamic range (range between the loudest and quietest parts) of the audio signal to make it easier to hear softer sounds. Q: Questioncan this soundbar be paired with Amazon Alexa?(1 answer)
A: AnswerHello, thanks for your question. Unfortunately, the HTA8000 cannot be paired with Amazon Alexa, as it does not support the A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) that Amazon Alexa requires. Q: QuestionAre more sub woofers needed with this bar and can the Bar also be used wireless?(1 answer)
A: AnswerHi Sage, thanks for your question. No, you don't need more subwoofers. The HTA8000 soundbar does not support the use of multiple subwoofers directly. You can expand the audio experience with optional wireless subwoofers and rear speakers, but only one subwoofer can be connected at a time. The connection for an optional subwoofer or rear speakers is wireless. Hope this helps. IMPRESSIVE SOUND THEATER EXPERIENCE!
IT'S A SONY! As I mention before in some of my reviews about Sony products, I’ve been a big, big loyal fan of Sony for decades due to the quality of their products, from Walkmans to TVs and AV systems, but I’ve been a little disappointed with their soundbars after testing a few of their latest models, including the 5 Stars rated HT-A7000 7.1.2 Channel Soundbar (with the SA-SW5 300W Wireless Subwoofer and SA -RS5 Wireless Rear Speakers) which couldn’t beat my 4 years old JBL 9.1 Sound bar (sorry Sony). After reading about Sony’s upcoming 2024 line of soundbars and their new features, I was curious to test the Theater Bar 8, I found it more appealing for my needs (and space). SET UP I have a Sony A80J OLED tv so connecting and setting up the Bar 8 through the Sony Bravia app was a breeze since I already have a Sony account, same with pairing the Subwoofer and Rear speakers. SOUND QUALITY In a word: AMAZING! The Soundbar alone sounds really great with crisp highs, balanced mids, pretty decent bass and over all the clarity of the dialog, the new Voice mode feature is awesome, especially if you set the TV speakers as the central channel (Note that this feature is available only with recent Sony tv models), big improvement over the A7000 in sound quality IMO. However, adding the SA -RS5 Wireless Rear speakers and SW3 (yes, I returned the big sibling because 300 watts is too much for me) and once I had the whole system set up…holy smoke, it is simply SPECTACULAR! The high-quality sound performance of the 11 speakers of the Bar 8 paired with the Sub and the Rears gives a rich immersive audio experience. The whole setup can be pricey but It's worth the Money. Sony finally made me happy with the new THEATER BAR 8!

Beyond disappointed
Hearing this in the store I was blown away, but when I got home, I couldnt believe how unimpressive it was. I thought about buying the $300-400 Sony SA-SW3 200W subwoofer, but the guy who sold it to me said we listened to it without the subwoofer. He either lied or didn't realize, but that seems hard to believe given the drastic difference from listening to it in the store vs an hour later when I set it up at home. It apparently has two small woofers among its 11 speakers, but if I max out the bass through the Bravia app (which you have to use and is buggy as all get out), the woofer crackle at volume 35-40. Give me a break, Sony. In addition to all of that, the volune is completely inconsistent across different apps (all apps downloaded to the TV i.e not through my Firestick, which we dont even use anymore because the soundbar sounds even worse theough the Firestick). For example, YouTube is super loud and Netflix, Disney+, etc. often sound muted. The 360 Spatial Surround Sound we heard in the store is hardly noticeable, even after going through the setup numerous times. So, not only am I extremely disappointed in this expensive purchase, it's also been a huge waste of time. Now I have to package this thing up to return it. Hopefully I can find something half the price that sounds better, comes with a subwoofer and maybe even wireless rear speakers (looking at you, LG)! I do like the design. Its sleak and doesn't obstruct sight of the TV, so I guess there's that. In short, don't waste your money unless it goes under $300.
