Wife wanted a sound bar for a cleaner look and I wanted a classic surround sound system. Happy medium product with rear (side) speakers. Sound is very bass heavy! The quality is okay for the price, but has some trouble with dialogue. Bass is good and subwoofer seems to be a proper size with the soundbar, even though it's a ported subwoofer. Voice zoom helps, but could probably benefit with a smaller center channel. I'm not a fan of sound bars in general though, being spoiled previously with a 7.1 system. The integration with a Bravia TV is awesome. Constantly turning on "night mode" when we are watching tv while the baby sleeps. This seems to cut down a lot of the bass tones. Using eARC to a Bravia TV was seamless. However standard eARC issues are still present, like changing the volume takes a second to process and will register multiple clicks at once in bulk. Overall good, voice zoom to max, bass to -1 is generally our base settings on this system.

Wow this Sony System 6 was packed extremely well upon delivery. The box weighed 50 pounds so be ready to have help getting it in your house if you are a smaller person like me. Very impressed with how things inside were wrapped in white soft bags and well padded for protection. Immediately I knew this was going to be awesome! It was very easy to get setup by using the Bravia Connect Phone app which actually took me about 20 minutes after unwrapping the wires and getting things all plugged in. The subwoofer is one heavy piece of equipment and you will be plugging your power supply and the wireless amplifier into the back as well as the soundbar. I first had to download data to use it with the app and pairing was required. You need to set up the soundbar to play TV audio and check the HDMI connection. It asks if you can hear sound from each piece and when you do connect the rear speakers there is no order so you can connect either speaker to the left or right side on the wireless amplifier. Everything automatically connected and it has a very easy to use remote control. I used it on my newer Vizio TV with eArc and immediately noticed a fantastic sound output! It's great how you can change the volume independently on each rear speaker using the app which also offers a Night Mode, Sound Field, Voice Mode, Volume. The remote control has Input, Sound Field, Voice, Bass, Night, Mute, Volume and a Power button. On the app there is a MAIN/SUB mode and also a MAIN or SUB setting as well. Under SETTINGS in the app you'll find: Wireless Speaker Setting ~ Sound Settings ~ HDMI Settings ~ Bluetooth Settings ~ System Settings ~ Easy Initial Setup ~ Software Update ~ Support BOT ~ Help The unit turns off after 20 minutes of inactivity when this optional feature is chosen. You can also turn your system on from the app instead of the remote. There is a Dimmer where you can adjust the brightness of the display and indicator. On the app there are many things you can adjust to get the sound just the way you want. For the Sound Field type there's Sony/Vertical Surround Engine but you can also pick Dolby Speaker Virtualizer or DTS Virtual:X. There are several other sound settings available too. I really like the extensive information under HELP Q&A in case of questions. It has 5.1 10 channel total speakers including 60W subwoofer and rear speakers. Also the small square wireless 30W Amplifier which controls your rear speakers. It supports Dolby Atmos/DTS:X and believe me the sound is really immersive! I watched some films that absolutely fit the bill with this Sony system! Really blew me away! I heard things I NEVER heard before when just using the TV speakers. It can all be wall mounted too if you desire. I am so happy I ordered this! It's exceptional quality as most all Sony products are! Even though the rear speakers are wired, the wire is very thin and not that noticeable where I have them placed. For the price point it's well worth the purchase! Easy setup using the Bravia Connect phone app and you'll find it really makes watching TV or listening to music quite the experience! I am enjoying mine so much!!

Premium Sound Without the Premium Price

This particular 5.1-channel configuration of the Sony BRAVIA Theater System 6 has altered the way in which I take pleasure in watching movies and other forms of entertainment at home. A move to this configuration is like discovering what I've been missing all these years because I've been utilizing TV speakers for a much longer period of time than I should have. Instantaneously, I was ecstatic to see that this kit appeared to be completely stocked. Everything you require is included in this package, including the primary soundbar, a large subwoofer, and two wireless back speakers that provide you with full surround sound. Setting everything up was a surprisingly simple process, all thanks to the BRAVIA Connect app. Wires that are included with the system are used to connect the rear speakers to the receiver module, which is connected to the speakers by a wireless connection. It is not the case with other systems, which require a significant amount of wiring in order to function. You can enjoy the dependability of wired connections with this blended solution, but you won't have to go through the bother of running cables across your place. In contrast to the majority of drivers, the soundbar is equipped with Sony's X-Balanced drivers, which are formed like rectangles rather than curves. The surface area is increased as a result of this, according to Sony, which allows for a greater flow of air and a greater delivery of power. The distinction is very audible to the ear. When I initially heard about this system, the first thing that jumped out to me was how much larger it sounds in comparison to its relatively small size. The Theater System 6 is equipped with ten speakers that are capable of producing a power output of one thousand watts. My home room is completely filled with a soundstage that is amazingly expansive. Not only does the bass response of the 200mm subwoofer go down to around 38Hz, but it also adds a remarkable amount of weight to action scenes without being overly boomy. Height virtualization is utilized by this system rather than specific upward-firing drivers yet, the Dolby Atmos and DTS:X support functions without any issues. Using Sony's Vertical Surround Engine, you may get the impression that the music is coming from above and all around you, which is a really convincing approach. When I was watching dramatic movie scenes, including the action scenes I tested out from different movies, the sound was so accurate that I literally had to lower my head during some of the most explosive parts of the episodes. The clarity of the discourse is one of the things that makes it superior. Even during the most chaotic action scenes, the person who is responsible for the center channel speaker ensures that voices remain clear and distinct. When it is necessary, the Voice Mode assists in increasing the volume of speech however, I do not have to use it very frequently because it functions so effectively on its own. By using AI, the Voice Zoom 3.0 feature on Sony BRAVIA TVs that are compatible with it further enhances the clarity of the dialogues, Additionally this system is equipped with a variety of modes that can be utilized in a variety of contexts. The sound produced by the Multi-Stereo mode covers the entire room, making it an excellent choice for background music or gatherings. You may watch television at night without missing any of the excitement by using Night Mode, which reduces the dynamic range. In addition to being effective in making your life more easier, these are not merely tactics designed to convince you to purchase something. There is a significant difference in the quality of surround sound when real rear speakers are used rather than virtual surround sound. By moving around the room in a fluid manner, the directional audio cues give you the impression that you are there in the middle of the action, which is something that virtual surround can not achieve, Because it makes the experience even more immersive, this spatial awareness is extremely important when it comes to playing video games. The input option is handy despite the fact that it is not very extensive because the subwoofer offers HDMI, optical, and auxiliary inputs. When it comes to streaming music, Bluetooth is an excellent wireless technology, and I have never seen any issues with the connection between the components. Within the BRAVIA Connect app you are able to make lot of adjustments to the volume, bass levels, and sound modes without having to look for the remote control. Without having to deal with a variety of components, this system is an excellent option for anyone who desires to experience true 5.1 surround sound, The outdated "home theater in a box" systems come to mind when I think about this, however this one is more up to date and simpler to put up. Despite the fact that it does not have all of the additional capabilities that Sony's Theater Bar 8 or 9 has, it does offer you the fundamental surround sound experience that the majority of people desire. Because it is primarily wired and focuses on sound quality rather than smart home networking, the system exudes an air of antiquated sophistication. This device does not come with any built-in voice assistants or streaming services. If you are looking for fantastic sound quality and genuine surround sound at an affordable price, then those extra features are irrelevant because it concentrates on what is most important that the Sony BRAVIA Theater System 6 is Sound. It provides you with very genuine surround sound that enhances the quality of your entertainment experience, Regardless of whether you are watching the most recent blockbuster, playing games, or having friends over for a movie night, this system provides you with the type of sound upgrade that makes you wonder why you waited so long to purchase nice sound gear. To put it another way, if you are currently using TV speakers or a simple soundbar, the Theater System 6 is a significant upgrade that justifies its price with excellent performance. Its sole objective is to offer a fantastic 5.1 surround sound system it is not attempting to be everything to everyone. That is something that it does really well.

Great Sound Quality but is it Worthy of Bravia?

I love Sony products and grew up studying every one of their releases as you just expected the best from Sony from both quality and performance. While they still lead in some premium areas, I'm not sure if the BRAVIA Theater System 6 fully lives up to the lofty expectations that come with that nameplate. Overall, the BRAVIA Theater System 6 sounds fantastic, it has REALLY loud bass and you can tell that was a point of emphasis with the outsized woofer relative to the soundbar itself. The soundbar wasn't wimpy, it just lacks some of the quality and features I'd expect from a unit in this range bearing the BRAVIA name. What I didn't like: 1. Its Dolby Atmos enabled but just 5.1, there is no upfiring speakers to give you the full positional sound you want from Atmos. Sony does have a 3.1.2 Atmos system that has no rear surround, but does have the upfiring speakers in the sound bar. This is probably the unit I should've picked for my specific application, connected to my Gaming and entertainment PC. 2. The Design language and build quality of the Theater System 6 is rather lackluster. Its plasticky and overall uninspired in terms of design and feels very light and unsubstantial. It looks like they designed it to be minimalist and fit flush against a wall and flat against a media console and that's what you have, a thin, flat unremarkable sound bar. 3. There is no indicator on the sound bar unit itself that it is powered on, and there is definitely not any indication of what kind of sound mode the speaker is currently decoding, Dolby Atmos or DTS X for example. You have to use the Bravia Connect app to see that info. I have other sound bars that either have a little display or a LED that is visible through the speaker grills that indicate power and even sound mode. I miss the days of my Sony AVR having the blue LED decoder light and flashing the audio format across a display panel indicating you were streaming some higher-end audio format. That felt premium to me. 4. This unit uses an odd proprietary connector to the sound bar. The Subwoofer acts as kind of a receiver, where you plug-in your HDMI e-ARC input from the TV or your optical cable from your sound source. Then you have a flat multi-wired ribbon that supplies power and audio signal to the soundbar portion. This is a really awkward implementation because you have to have your subwoofer near your TV, which requires a long HDMI cable and potentially more concealing if its away from your TV or media console, then you have to conceal the cable back to your speaker bar. Also, you have to AIM THE REMOTE at the subwoofer instead of the actual soundbar to control things like power, volume, mode etc. Very odd implementation, and one I'm not a fan of. 5. The rear speakers are also a mess of wires. You have a wireless receiver unit that receives signal from the subwoofer, then two speaker wires that go to each satellites (which can be L or R). Other systems I have, the satellites are wirelessly connected to the main speaker bar and only require a power cord, which results in a lot less cables to conceal. I much prefer that implementation over this receiver + 2 cord solution as you have a mess of cables to conceal running between the satellites and receiver. 6. The remote control is small but fat and doesn't feel great. I guess I expect more after using Samsung's solar remotes and Apple TV 4K, but Sony's remote isn't just about size, its about the buttons and quality. They use the spongy rubber buttons that aren't very responsive. You don't really have that many options anyways, there's basically Sound Field, Voice and Night which can all be enabled simultaneously and don't seem to have much impact on sound quality anyways, other than Night mode which makes all the loud portions less loud. Make sure to set that Bass though, that's one area this system really shines. Despite what seems like a somewhat negative review, the Theater System 6 actually sounds great and does a nice job for its intended purpose. I just expected more from Bravia because of the nice Quality of Life and innovative features their competitors have devised over the years. Sony used to be known for this kind of innovation as well, so I'm hoping they step it up again because when it comes to the technical aspects, like actual sound quality, image processing, whatever, they still lead and perform well. I'm using this system as a PC gaming sound system, so its not the best for this application, I think I would've been happier with the 3.1.2 system instead. But the compact size and big sound from this unit are actually great for PC gaming as well and similar to some of the other Atmos sound bars I've used in the past. eARC works great from my 4K OLED monitor and does not show a graphic detail like one of their older units. If you haven't tried Dolby Atmos over HDMI from your PC, check it out, it sounds amazing!

Setting up this Sony surround sound system was pretty straightforward. The subwoofer is the main control unit. The TV and sound bar both connect to it through wired cables; HDMI for the TV and a dedicated proprietary hardwired cable for the soundbar. The rear speakers connect to it wirelessly through the wireless amp. The rear channels also use hardwired proprietary cables rather than traditional speaker wire. The only downside to this setup is it forces the subwoofer to remain relatively close to the soundbar and television, particularly when compared to a wireless subwoofer. In addition to an HDMI connection for the television, proprietary input for the soundbar, and power, the subwoofer also has an optical port, USB port, and 3.5mm audio port, all on the rear. The set also includes a pair of mounting brackets for positioning the soundbar over TV legs if necessary. After physically placing all the components, making all the subwoofer connections, and connecting the subwoofer and wireless rear channel amp to power, the system was ready for use. I then downloaded the Sony Bravia connect app on my smartphone and completed setup through the app. The app played test tones through the devices to verify the soundbar, subwoofer, and rear channel speakers were all properly connected. It did have a momentary issue locating the rear channel amp and speakers, but it was immediately resolved by pressing the link button on the amp, which the app instructed me to do as part of troubleshooting. At no point did I feel worried or that the system wouldn't work. Even with that very minor hiccup, if you can even call it a hiccup, I'd say setup went problem-free for the most part. Sound quality is top notch. I use the system in a bedroom and it sounds phenomenal. We were previously using a high-end stand alone soundbar with no rear speakers or dedicated subwoofer. This set made us realize just how hard it is to replicate true multi/channel surround sound through a single stand-alone soundbar. While the previous soundbar had outstanding sound in its own right, the different channels and effects of multiple placed speakers give this system a much more realistic theatrical sound quality. Television, movies, and console gaming all have rich immersive sounds that pull you into whatever is being watched or played. Ambient sounds like insects chittering, thunder cracking, explosions roaring in the distance, or people talking in the background have a realistic feel that makes us feel present in whatever environment we are seeing on screen or listening to. Different sounds can be distinctly heard with good clarity. The bass is deep with good resonance and room vibrating impact. The system is incredibly easy to operate during use. It powers on and off with the ARC enabled television and volume can be controlled through the television remote. There is a small remote included with the system, but between the TV remote and Bravia app, I seldom use it. There is also a night mode that offers clear decipherable dialog and very little loss of fidelity when playing at low volume. If you have a spouse like mine who constantly complains the TV is too loud even when the volume is under 10, that’s a much-needed relief. There is a ton to like about this system. It's loud, clear and has excellent surround sound. It's also user friendly enough for most to quickly setup and use. The main soundbar isn't too tall or long. It fits perfectly on the stand in front of the television without blocking anything. The rear speakers provide lengthy cords for easy placement in most rooms with space. The soundbar and/or rear channels can also be wall mounted if desired.

Thumping Sound, Great Integration With Sony TVs

The Sony BRAVIA Theater System 6 is a fantastic sounding home theater, with a thumping subwoofer, crisp soundbar and large rear surrounds. The system also has some great integrations with newer Sony TVs. I happen to have a Sony A80J, so you’ll be getting my thoughts on how the system performs, how easy it is to use and how well it integrates with a Sony TV in this short review. Installation/Setup: My setup was fairly easy. I placed the soundbar in front of my TV, the subwoofer to the right of it, and the rear surrounds on 2 tables I have on either ends of my reclining couch. The wireless amp is on the sofa table behind the couch. Wiring is easy, everything is labeled, and since you’ll be forced to use the app to set it up, your system will run through a sound calibration as well. The app is well-designed and will guide you through any questions about the installation you might have. My only complaint is that the HDMI cord that comes with it is rather short. I had to get myself a 9ft cable for it to comfortable reach my TV from the subwoofer. Sound: This system sounds absolutely great. The subwoofer is pretty large and thumps hard, but I heard no distortion, even during intense bass filled movie scenes. The soundbar itself sounds crispy and well-defined when handling voice and music. The rear surrounds are also fantastic, as they are quite large and deliver plenty of surround sound to envelop you in the action. Sony TV Integrations and Features: This is where the system really shines. When connected to my Sony A80J, I got a custom menu that let me adjust Sound Field, Voice Mode and Night Mode. You can also adjust the volume levels of the surround speakers and subwoofer. This is all from your existing Sony TV remote. I haven’t even touched the remote that came with the unit yet, because you don’t need it if you have a compatible Sony TV. Sound Field lets you adjust the simulated surround sound for the program you are watching. This is nice sometimes, while other times it seems to muddy up the sound. Voice Mode is great for really bringing out people’s voices via the center channel. It definitely helps in content where the voices are hard to hear. Night Mode tones down all the louder sounds so that you can listen to content at night without waking everyone up. The only issue I have with this system is that even though there is a smartphone app that connects via Bluetooth to stream from your phone or other device, it does not support updating firmware via the app. Yup, you heard that right, you can’t update the firmware from the app and since the system isn’t connecting directly to the internet as it has no way to, you’re not downloading new firmware that way either. Needless to say, I was prompted to update the firmware shortly after setting up the system and I had to dig up a USB thumb drive and download a file to put on it via my Windows PC. I then had to stick the drive into the back of the subwoofer and reboot it to get it updated. Other than the retro way of updating firmware, the Sony BRAVIA Theater System 6 is a great soundbar home theater system that I would recommend to anyone looking for a simple sound system that gets the job done. I’d especially recommend it to anyone that already has a Sony TV, as the integrations with it is my favorite feature.

    Sony Brings the Thunder

I must say that the Sony Bravia Theater 6 home theater system is surprisingly powerful. The system is a traditional soundbar with truly dedicated rear speakers. Yet the entire system is controlled from the subwoofer, not the soundbar. The system advertises Dolby Atmos and DTS-X, but there are no true up-firing speakers. The Dolby Atmos and DTS-X effects are present but are not as impressive as if there was truly a dedicated up-firing speaker. There is obvious power and bass at higher volumes, but, at the same time, I could turn down the bass and easily hear content at night in lower volumes. There is also no screen or touch controls, the remote control manages the basics, but most settings are controlled from the “BRAVIA Connect” Sony application on your Android or Apple phone. Still, movies and games sound amazing. Overall, I am impressed. For more about my experience, please read on. Setup: The bulkiest part of this entire setup is the subwoofer. Because the subwoofer and soundbar are connected, you will need the subwoofer close to the TV. The speaker connection on the soundbar is proprietary and has an almost unique Molex connector connecting to the sub. The subwoofer is where you will connect your HDMI or Optical cable. I connected the system via HDMI eARC to take full advantage of Dolby Atmos and DTS-X content. Unfortunately, there is only one HDMI port on the subwoofer. The rear speakers connect to a hub that synchronizes wirelessly to the Subwoofer. The rear speakers themselves have built-in cables. I wish Sony had not used built-in cables because if the cable breaks or is accidentally cut, replacing the cable would be more difficult than a simple swap. Sony impressed me by including optional attachable feet for the center soundbar. Those feet helped the soundbar grip the glass of my entertainment center and kept the speaker from rubbing against the TV stand. Sony includes mounting guides if you should choose to mount the speakers. Experience: Sound experience was impressive. You can really shake the walls with this little system. It is not hurting for volume. In home cinema setups or bedrooms, the volume is great, and the sound is rich. Atmos and DTS-X height effects were a bit lacking in my testing. I noticed them, but I never got the height effect I do with truly dedicated Atmos speakers. Transitions to rear effects were great and the rear speakers sounded good without any popping or hissing due to the wireless connection. The user experience is a bit hampered by the need to use the Sony Bravia Connect application. Do not get me wrong, I had no trouble getting the system set up. At the time of my testing, there was no firmware update for the system, and everything paired quickly. But, if you want to make any changes to the sound field, you will need the application. If you want to know in advance if the sound field or night mode is enabled, you will need the application to see. You can turn some features on or off from the remote, but because you only have a small LED dot on the subwoofer to know if a button was pressed or not, it can be a bit difficult to tell what features are on or off at any given time. I had a terrible time at first with video sources from the same input having horrible variances in volume. Adds on my Fire TV would be super loud while content on HBO Max or Disney+ would be super quiet. There is an auto adjustment to keep volume levels more even, but you must hunt for that feature in the Bravia Connect application. Also, while Sound field and Voice modes stay toggled on when you turn the system off and then back on, the Night Mode is always off upon turning the system back on. You have to reenable Night Mode if you want to use it. If a user has the system in a bedroom and would prefer the Night Mode to always be on by default, then the user is simply out of luck and must toggle the setting on each time they turn on the TV. Trying to adjust BASS or Volume settings within the Bravia Connect application was always frustrating and the response was always delayed. Conclusion: Still, once the system is where you want it, it sounds good. Bass is powerful without overpowering the center channel. The sound transfer from front to rear speakers was flawless. I feel like the Atmos and DTS-X experience are a bit lacking, the Bravia Connect application is clunky and not terribly user friendly, and I wish many of the cables were not hard wired to their respective speakers, but I still love this system. If there had been true up-firing speakers along with less reliance on the Bravia Connect app, the system would be perfect. 4/5 Recommended

Great Sound System with a Weird Design

Great Sound with a Weird Design I’ve been using the new Sony BRAVIA Theater System 6 for a couple of weeks now, and as someone who takes living room setups seriously both for movies and gaming this system delivers in almost every area that counts. This sound system comes equipped with both Dolby Atmos and DTS:X which you love to see and you are not just limited to one, allowing me to future-proof from streaming services to my Video Game consoles. Everything that comes in the box as follows is the soundbar, wireless sub, 2x rear speakers, wireless amp, 2x power cords, remote, and a HDMI cable. You also get some basic wall mounting brackets for the speakers, but here’s where I hit my first snag, the rear speakers can only be wall-mounted or placed on a table or surface. There are no screw holes or inserts on the bottom, so if you were planning on getting some speaker stands, you will need to find a universal speaker stand that is adjustable to clamp down on them. Installation for this sound system I found to be decently easy for the most part but also caught me a little off guard in that all the I/O for HDMI, Power, and Optical is located on the subwoofer and not on the soundbar. That means you will have to route all your cables to wherever the sub is sitting, meaning it will have to be to the left or right of your TV and you should put it on the side of your TV where the HDMI ports are located. I feel like this is a strange design choice that adds some complexity to the cable management, especially if you are planning on wall mounting the soundbar, seeing as the wire on the soundbar is not removable which could add some difficulty to the process. I will say I do like how the speaker has a Low profile and doesn't block the bottom of the TV when placed in front of the TV on an entertainment stand. Once everything is connected and configured, download the Bravia Connect app and go through the step-by-step process of configuring the sound system through a series of sound prompts to make sure everything is in sync and this is where it really shines. In the app you are able to control the Rear Speaker and bass volume levels, pick between 3 sound profiles of night modem, sound field, and voice mode. NOTE: As of writing this review and referencing the app, I was prompted to do a software update and clicked the pop up thinking it would be a simple over the air updated but was prompted to update it with it USB stick with a link to Sony’s website to download the firmware, meaning you will need a laptop or PC and a USB stick in order to do the update for the system. I'm sorry but what's the point of an App on your phone if you can't automatically do an update for the system… On the PlayStation 5 is where you really feel the power of the surround sound and it is phenomenal. You can hear footsteps behind you, bullets flying overhead, and subtle environmental cues that make you feel like you’re actually in the game. Watching movies or shows that are Dolby Atmos compatible is equally impressive with every explosion, whisper, rustle of fabric, and echo of footsteps is crystal clear and beautifully directional. Pros: Incredible surround sound with Dolby Atmos and DTS:X support Deep, powerful subwoofer performance Seamless integration with PS5 for immersive gameplay Low Profile Sound bar Cons: Setup is awkward due to all I/O being located on the subwoofer Rear speakers lack bottom mounting screws for a stand (wall-mount only) Cable management could be an issue depending on your setup. Firmware Updates need to be manually updated with a USB stick. Overall, the Sony BRAVIA Theater System 6 does what it sets out to do in giving you a premium sound system for under $1,000, while with a few quirks in the setup and design department. It does deliver great sound when Gaming and movie watching, just know that you might have to rearrange your set up in order to get the most of this.

Best Compact 5.1 Setup - eARC support for 1+ input

This Bravia system is my first soundbar, and I couldn't be more impressed (is the short version!). The longer version is I've typically run a full AV receiver and separate speakers, and always aimed for that peak performance scenario. The honest trust I've come to terms with, is that unless you have an acoustically treated room (which would be nice) , then its very difficult to tell the difference when comparing compact or separate systems. I downsized my setup recently (moving rooms, then moving house) which meant I was looking for a compact system, that wouldn't compromise on the surround experience. I personally love the surround experience, including listening to Blu Ray audio and SACD (yes, I'm one of the few), and just a standard soundbar even with all the 'virtual surround' offerings always left me missing something. This Bravia system is the best of both worlds - its compact and easy to connect, but gives you a configurable, wireless surround speaker setup without compromising on quality. First let's talk about the connectivity - the subwoofer only has 1 HDMI input , which is fine as long as you have a modern TV which supports eARC. If your TV only supports ARC (or not at all) you might have to make some hard decisions about what to wire into the single input - in my case the Sony Bravia TV I have does support eARC so I moved all the connections that would normally go into the AVR, direct to inputs on the TV and then passed a single eARC HDMI connection to this subwoofer. *IMPORTANT NOTE* : Make sure that if your TV support eARC , go and enable it on the appropriate input (if your TV does not auto-sense). I did not, and although the sound system connected, I was only getting a stereo signal out of all the speakers - once I enabled eARC on the TV I got the full 5.1 / virtual atmos channel separation. Other than deciding how to wire your source - everything else is pretty self explanatory. The rear speakers come with their own wireless amp which seamlessly pairs with the main unit - you just have to plug it in. The center channel (which also houses the front wide speakers) plugs into the subwoofer directly, with what appears to be a custom ribbon cable connection. It works seamlessly, but all of the connection are proprietary Sony (in case you were wondering) Actual setup is all done through the IOS/Android app which pairs via Bluetooth and then guides you through the setup. I'e had my fair share of pain with this guided setup apps in the past, but the Sony one worked first time, without a single hiccup. If you have a Sony TV, the sound system directly integrates with the TV so you can control everything including the advanced features (night mode, voice focus, sound field, rear-speaker volume, bass level etc) all through a single remote. All in all I couldnt' be happier with this unit - for a compact and integrated unit with surround and pumping bass, this is just as good as any Sony separate system you might put together. Just be mindful of the limited connectivity for multiple sources, if you do not have proper eARC support on the TV

Setting up the Sony BRAVIA Theater System 6 is quick and hassle-free. You simply connect your HDMI cable and the power cables, download the BRAVIA Connect app and follow the easy on-screen instructions, making the whole process smooth and straightforward. A bit unique, the HDMI cable connects to the rear of the Sub-woofer rather than the soundbar, so keep that in mind as to where you place your sub. Once set up, the sound is incredibly immersive, bringing movies, music, and games to life. The deep bass and surround effects make every scene feel more intense, and dialogue comes through clearly. Whether you're watching an action-packed film or listening to music, the audio quality is rich and well-balanced. While the system delivers excellent sound, the wired rear speakers can be inconvenient. They limit placement options and require extra effort to keep things tidy. A wireless version would make the setup perfect, allowing for a cleaner and more flexible arrangement. You do need a wall with outlets, or an outlet behind your couch for the rear power supply. The remote is simple and easy to use. The sub has an indicator light to show output your are using; Green (aud-in), Blue (Bluetooth), White (HDMI). You can also use the BRAVIA connect app to control the volume and all sound options as well. Final Thoughts If you're looking for an easy setup and immersive sound, the Sony BRAVIA Theater System 6 is a solid choice. The wired rear speakers and subwoofer are a bit of a downside if you don’t have the proper set up, but the rich audio and deep bass more than make up for it. I have to admit, the sound quality is even better than my Sony Soundbar HT-A3000, despite that model having wireless rear speakers and subwoofer.

The Sony Bravia theater system 6 is an incredible 5.1 system with superb sound and even amazing packaging. To start the packaging itself is incredibly dirty and safe and I see zero issues ever with this in shipping. I rarely rave about packaging, but this is one of those rare times and Sony knocked out of the park with this. The package comes with a sound bar, left and right rear speaker, a nice subwoofer and a wireless amplifier that the two rear speakers plugged into. Overall, the set up process was incredibly simple. You plug your TV into the subwoofer and the sound bar into the subwoofer. Lastly, you plug in the left and right speaker into the wireless amplifier which connects to the subwoofer wirelessly and you’re good to go. You also get a dedicated center speaker for clear audio on the sound bar itself so no matter if you’re listening to loud dialogue or soft, you can hear every word clearly. You also have cinema grade DTS:X and Dolby Atmos formats that this system supports as well. The highs and lows on this system are incredible and the Atmos is very punchy. If you have media that supports it. The set up was incredibly simple. The app that you use is incredibly simple as well to connect the system and overall I couldn’t be happier with the incredible sound that this system makes. Movie sound amazing, video games sound immersive, and dialogue as I stated before is easy to understand whether in loud situations or soft. The little remote that it comes with is super simple to use as well and overall this A+ knockout from Sony. They should be very proud of the product they have put out.

Pay close attention to your room before buying

While the sound quality produced by this system is wonderful, there are a number of questionable design choices that make it a difficult product to choose when shopping for a sound bar. Take a moment and look at the photo Sony provides to illustrate the immersive nature of the virtual surround sound. Does your room match the furniture and furniture layout in this photo? If it does not you might face the same challenges I faced. Let’s walk through those. Beginning with the soundbar, the first odd design choice is that there are no HDMI connections on the soundbar. Sony has chosen to use a proprietary cable that is hardwired to the rear of the soundbar with a proprietary connector on the end that must be connected to the subwoofer. As the photo indicates the soundbar should be sitting to the left (or right) of your TV stand. I repeat: the HDMI connections don’t connect to the soundbar directly below the TV. It is common to route HDMI connections in-wall behind the TV and straight down to the TV stand below or directly to the soundbar even closer to the TV, easily achieved because the wires fit well between the wall studs. With this product, one would need to route the cables horizontally and out to the subwoofer. This is made more difficult by the proprietary nature of the cable which can not be lengthened. I have not seen any other soundbars on the market that make this choice. Most other soundbars include the HDMI connections directly on the sound bar. Another odd decision is that the subwoofer is the brain of the system. Sony includes a bright white light on the front right of the subwoofer that is used, for example, when adjusting the volume. You don’t look at the soundbar to tell if the volume is adjusting, you look at the subwoofer which illuminates a bright white light. It’s just odd when your brain wants to focus on the TV for these types of visual cues, or the box directly under the TV but instead you have to look to a box on the floor to the left (or right). The next item in the photo to look to is the box to the left hand side of the couch with the two wires coming out of the box. This is the wireless connection between the rear speakers and the subwoofer. There are technically three wires that come out of this box: One for power, and the two rear speaker connections. The Rear speakers also use a hardwired proprietary connection and ship with a 16-foot non-removable non-extendable cable. For this photo to work in real life somewhere under that couch or rear table there has to be a plug to power the box. Each rear speaker must be routed to wherever that box ends up. My living room does not have power run to the floor underneath the sofa so putting the box in this position in my space is not possible. In all the rooms in my house the power is on the side walls. My living room is an open floor plan with hardwood floors so there is no rear wall to use anyway. While sixteen feet may sound like a lot of room to work with, it runs out pretty quick in my house where the wireless box must be placed along the side wall so it can have power. In my living room I was forced to decide to either skip having a right-rear speaker altogether, or add a side rug to cover the 3 cables now running out the left hand side of the couch. When I saw this thing had a wireless connection for the rear speakers my mind envisioned two wireless rear speakers, not two wired rear speakers connected to a box that is wireless connected to the subwoofer. I’ve grown accustomed to my robot vacuums keeping the living room clean and they can’t handle wires or rugs well so I went with skipping the right-rear speaker. Had Sony chosen to use normal speaker wire to connect these rear speakers I could have easily solved this by routing the wires in-wall and mounting the speakers directly to the side walls, which is clearly the better design choice given the shape of the rear speakers. Recognizing that my living room proved too large to deal with this particular product, I moved the whole setup to a couple of smaller bedrooms. In all cases, the only way that was feasible to hide the wires was to make sure there is a rear wall available and that the rear wall is completely covered by the sofa/couch/loveseat/bed. This eliminates the need to route the rear speaker cables in-wall, which is all but impossible anyway due to the short nature of the cables. There is a single HDMI connection on the subwoofer. I’m used to soundbars that include two HDMI connections which allow me to connect an external streaming box or a game system directly to the soundbar. That is not possible with this product. Instead, the subwoofer is connected to the eARC port on the TV and devices must be connected directly to the HDMI ports on the TV. As I mentioned at the start, once you get past the wiring, the system sounds great. It’s easy to adjust settings using the Bravia smartphone app and overall makes for a wonderfully immersive sound experience. I just hate that it won’t work in my living room.

Hi vortex0007, thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback regarding the HT-S60 sound system. We sincerely apologize for the challenges you encountered with the design and setup of the product.
We are thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the sound quality of the HT-S60. However, we understand that the unique design choices, such as the proprietary connections and the placement of the subwoofer, may not accommodate all living spaces. Your comments regarding the HDMI connectivity and wire management have been noted.
We understand how important it is for our products to fit seamlessly into various home environments and we regret that the HT-S60 fell short in your living room.

Thank you once again for your feedback and for being a valued member of the Sony community.
      Sincerely,

I was skeptical about this system and I saw that there was only one review about it and it said it was a great system, so i went back to bestbug since i had been there earlier but left because got overwhelmed by some of their staff directing me to a true wired system that would cost me about 2k anyways so i went to check it out and the sony guy that was there didn't recommend me the system and was also trying to sell me a higher price system but i told him no that i wanted to stay in my budget so i bought it, hooked up and i was amazed on how much bass this system has and the sound is clear and loud and it can get louder by changing a setting through their app. I love the system and im very pleased, this is my first Sony product I have ever purchased im a LG fan but LG didn't have a system that sounded this good within my budget. I definitely recommend this system.

Be aware that the subwoofer is hardwired to the TV so you are somewhat limited to where you can locate the subwoofer. The rear channel speakers are wired to the small amp that is wireless as well. Small items that I wish I was aware of. If you don’t mind the wires, there is no worries.
