The soundbar is noticeably better than the TV speakers, but there might be better options at this price point..I have a Bravia 9 TV and wanted something to sync perfectly. No regrets but if you aren't trying to match your TV with soundbar, you may find a better deal.

I purchased the Sony BRAVIA Theater Bar 8 without the sub or any surround speakers. Although expensive I figured since I already owned a Sony BRAVIA TV, it would make the connection simple and take advantage of any sync'ing abilities between the 2. I was wrong. For whatever reason, the process that should be quite straightforward is anything but, especially when using eARC on both devices. I tried factory resetting the TV and the soundbar, swapping cables, reordering the sequence of actions, etc. I was about to give up when lo and behold it connected, no idea why. The soundbar itself sounds fine and clear, but lacks bass, which I expected. It has a nice, simple appearance and appears to be of high quality. Setting up the soundbar room acoustics and distances is accomplished using an app on your phone, which worked fine. Everything worked fine for several weeks, including the ability to control it with the TV remote, when it suddenly disconnected and I had to start over trying everything to get it to reconnect, taking 2 days. It shouldn't be like this!

Purchased along with a new Sony 85" Bravia 7, and the sound quality is noticeable. Easy controls and remote. I stream via DirecTV and it was linked to my remote very easily, but I occasionally use the SONY remote to enhance the sound. Voices come across much clearer than with the Sound Bar that the Theater 8 replaced

I am a music lover who recently replaced the Denon Home Soundbar 550 and matching subwoofer with the Bravia Theatre Bar 8 and SA-SW5 Subwoofer. I purchased the Theatre Bar 8 from my local Best Buy but had to order the SA-SW5 online, but it was on my front porch 2 days later. The Sony soundbar and sub absolutely destroys the pricier Denon in every area except hi-res stereo music playback. The Denon is a 2.1 soundbar and while providing better mid-range and tighter bass for streamed music from Amazon Music HD, Apple Music and SiriusXM, dialogue was muddy and frequently unintelligible, making watching my favorite programs or movies a chore. The Sony does an admirable job with hi-res music and is a pleasure to listen to without ear fatigue, plus, it provides a much wider 2.1 soundstage and absolutely kills on all movie soundtracks with their various codecs. It will shake the furniture and rattle windows if required with the SA-SW5 Sub and the center dialogue channel is the best I have heard on any soundbar in its price range. No more of my wife and I looking at each other constantly during a movie and asking, "What did he/she say"? The Dolby Atmos adds excellent height effects as well. I'm extremely happy I made the switch.

I am a big fan of Sony products and the 77” tv along with this sound bar does not disappoint. The bar is the perfect size for our tv room and provides easy configuration for whatever kind of sound preferred to match the visual media. It is easy to adjust sound profile to complement visual media content.

This soundbar sounds awesome! The audio is clear, loud, and really improves the TV experience. Voices are easy to hear, and movies feel much more immersive. Setup was quick and simple. I’m very happy with the sound quality and would definitely recommend it.

This is a hard review to write because this bar 8 should easily be 5 star but it is held back by some bad Sony decisions. This bar beats the A7000 and A5000 hands down from previous generation. The remote is limited and should have included the rear speaker controls maybe Sony didn't expect you to buy the rear speakers. Requires App to install the bar which might lead to future problems if app loses support from Sony. 360 spatial Sound field mode which is the selling point works better if you have a dedicated subwoofer and rear speakers. I have the SW5 and SR5 speakers supporting the bar, which integrates better with the sound field compared with the A7000. if u are watching movies from an uncompressed source like a physical disc, this bar is incredible. this is the best atmos experience I have ever heard from a soundbar. From a compressed source like streaming from netflix or itunes it sounds okay but the difference is really obvious. Sony has removed the sound modes cinema, music, auto in favour spatial sound, dolby virtualizer, and neural x. The latter 2 sound terrible. Sony needs to put in a center speaker control in the app to help increase voice volume. This sound bar needs a firmware update to enhance compressed audio quality and give users more controls like center channel and EQ settings to tailor the sound to how we like it because this 360 spatial mapping doesn't work in every scenario.

Excellent. Clean looking. Great sound and worth every dollar. Paid $849 during Xmas time. No need for additional speakers for more than basic use. You get what you pay for: so if you elect to buy a $200 soundbar, then that’s on you.

I went with the upgrade Sony soundbar with my new Sony 65” TV and I a glad I did! It was a little more than I wanted to spend but the sound quality is excellent and very easy to sync up to the TV and remote control to work as one controller.

Very good quality sound bar. Worth the price. Comes with 2 small "feet" that have soft rubber backing for elevation and not damaging whatever surface it is on. Easy to access HDMI, optical, etc ports. No digital display in it, only 3 dot lights in the lower right (white and blue colors for modes). Its not a 5-star rating because the only control over settings is via a phone app. While overall more approachable than its predecessor (HT9Z sound bar, which had horribly unstable subwoofer connection and which relied only on eARC) and with perfectly reliable subwoofer connections, it doesn't have all the settings it needs to sound right. Sound bar by itself: 2.0 connection. Sounds a bit strained trying to make a subwoofer effect with only treble speakers. Adding in the subwoofer and the woofer balances great but jumps to 5.1 setting... I have no rear speakers in my setup so sounds from "behind" are improperly loud in the side speakers from the Bar. Especially disorienting and frustrating in video games more than tv or movies. And no way to change that setting. Changing it away from "adaptive surround" to just "high quality simulated" helped, but then the volume levels between sources get wonky. I still recommend it because an app is quicker to update than firmware so I think this setting oddity will get corrected before long.

This sound bar is everything that the Best Buy associate said it was. The sound is outstanding and the ability too select the different sound fields is a testament to its versatility. All in all this is one of the best eletrinics purchases we have ever made.

Works great - awesome sound. Slim design allowes it to fit right under the TV.

Still learning all the setting but so far so good. I added the subwoofer and rear speakers and the sound great together. I love me the design of the soundbar. Only wish there where a easier way to get the best sound without having to adjust setting every time I switch between watching regular tv and movies.

The sound quality is excellent. It is like you are in a movie theatre at home. Great compliment to the Sony Television. I would recommend this to anyone.

I’ve always wanted a sound bar for my Sony Bravia TV and I’m so glad that I went ahead and bought the sound bar eight. I never knew what I was missing. I couldn’t be more happy.

Easy setup and excellent sound. Works great with my Bravia TV. Exactly what i was looking for.

Bought the Bravia 8 soundbar to add with my Bravia 7 TV. We don't have space for lots of speakers. And my wife doesn't like booming bass. This soundbar was the perfect balance for us. Fits under the TV. And the sound quality is clean, clear vocals with enough rumble when needed.

Love this soundbar. Very easy to hook up and sounds great.
