Really nice Soundbar that Syncs up with Sony TV

Fits perfectly under a 65” TV. The setup was super easy and the integration with the TV was flawless using Sony’s center channel sync. Setting up the spatial sound field was also extremely easy as well. You do have to play with the settings a little. In my medium sized living room, 13 x 15 feet it sounded great. For larger rooms, you may want to step up to the theater bar 9. I plan on purchasing the subwoofer and rear surrounds at a later date. For now the bar itself is more than capable. Was also able to sync the TV and soundbar to my echo dot to turn the system on & off plus control the volume. The original price of $849 was a little high but the insane price of $699 was, I think, the sweet spot for this soundbar. The spatial surround is subtle but definitely noticeable and I’m sure will be greatly enhanced with a sub & surrounds. I am not one to like my movies shaking the house so this is perfect. One last note is the Voice Zoom function also works really well for clear dialogue.

I agree that it’s not cheap. However the setup and sound is fantastic! And if it was a sound issue, either they didn’t know how to setup or their TV is not compatible. I purchased the SW3 wireless subwoofer to help with the bass tones for Home Theater, but it did not compare to my wired sub and I was ultimately less than satisfied with the bass produced.

While the SW3 is a great compact option, we recommend the SA-SW5 subwoofer for more demanding home theater setups, as its 300W output and larger 180mm driver with a passive radiator deliver significantly deeper, more cinematic bass that rivals wired alternatives. Additionally, please ensure you’ve run the "Sound Field Optimization" in the BRAVIA Connect app, which calibrates the subwoofer to your specific room acoustics for improved impact.

The lower range and bass were just right as we don’t need a strong sound from a subwoofer. This soundbar sounded better when compared to LG and Samsung.

Perfect companion for Bravia TV

I added the Theater Bar 8 and SW3 subwoofer. They sound fantastic and represent a very nice upgrade. I love how well integrated it is with the TV. I can control everything from the TV interface so it is easy for other family members to use ... they do not need to anything it just works. I am using the Acoustic Center channel feature so that the speakers of my A95L are handling the center. With Voice Zoom 3 dialog is crystal clear and voice appears to come from the screen which is exactly what I wanted. I wall mounted the soundbar using the included template. This was also very easy though it does not come with the screws. Setup using the Bravia Connect app was simple and it is nice having both the app as well as the TV interface to control the sound.

Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been using a Theater Bar 8, without a sub or rears, but with the Center Sync of a Bravia 9. Overall I've been very happy with it, particularly for Atmos encoded content. The surround effects have been surprisingly good, although the height effects have been a little lacking. That could be due to my room, which has a vaulted ceiling that is 16 ft at its peak. It took me a while to get the settings dialed in just right. Out of the box it sounded a little thin. But when I got the sound field setup just right, it fills the room with sound without any problem. The only reasons I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars include: - It's not quite as good for listening to music, at least I have not yet figured out what the optimal settings are for that. - There don't seem to be that many options for further customization of the sound. If Sony's preset options don't work for you, you're pretty much out of luck.
