I have used other Sony recorders for years and they worked well to record and archive interviews. Our project bought three more. These, however, do not have a USB port. There is no way to archive anything recorded on them. We found this out after the interviews and when we started to set them up for archiving. It's too late to return them. A waste of money for our purposes. The fact that there was no USB had never occurred to us, so it wasn't something we checked before buying -- of course, now we see that fact is not mentioned in the description.

So went online and got better instructions. Couldn't figure out how to 'go back' just a little bit. Still don't know. Found this VERY DIFFICULT to operate.

I actually had to read the provided instructions. You’ll probably need magnifying them as the print is so tiny. The illustrations are also very small. To sum it up, this is a basic recorder. In my opinion the only negative is that There is no cassette/tape that you can pop out and put into another recorder in the event that this gadget stops working!
