The battery life is not great. It turns on and off by itself. And the sound of the recorded content is not barley able to be recognized.

I bought this to record a lectures in class. The recordings came out very clear (even when recorded from the back of the classroom). The recorder is simple to use. It came with batteries. My only complaint is it cannot be connected to a computer and can only be listened to with the device with or without headphones.

This phone does not work as easy as it claims. Used the user guide directions for voice caller ID and it still didn’t work. Had others try as well. Not worth the money.

Nice and sleek! Didn't work great. Picked up all back ground noise and wasn't great at picking up the one voice you needed to record. This was at a distance. Close up didn't sound as clear as I thought it would.

The Sony ICD-BX140 is step down from the other recorders over the years. It no longer comes with a carrying case and it no longer comes with a cable to download the files to your PC since YOU CANNOT UPLOAD THE AUDIO FILES! There is NO USB connection. This is a basic necessity for dictation for me and I'm shocked that Sony has put something out this poor in this day and age. My recorder is going back.

Hi Penguinmom, The battery life may shorten depending on the operation of the IC recorder [http://docs.esupport.sony.com/voicerecorder/ICDBX140_guide/en/contents/TP0000340614.html]. We will forward your information to the proper department. Thank you for your feedback. Regards, Vincent

What happened to the software?

I have an older model ICD-PX720 I purchased around 2009, which came with a USB connector and software to import the sound files. When you plug in the USB today, you can't install the software because its not supported and they do not have a update for Windows 10 or Windows 7 (not certain of other version of Windows) so it has become useless for me. I bought this one to replace it assuming it would come with current software and a USB connector to use with Windows. Nope, no USB, no software. What happened, Sony? No bueno!
