Do not buy
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I needed to buy a new camera when my Canon SX 50 HS wore out. I purchased the Sony camera based on a number of glowing reviews. I was first disappointed with its performance. The zoom mechanism is not sensitive at all. Then, when rapid fire shooting, the camera stops after ten shots and begins a lengthy image-saving process. But worst of all, this camera’s images are nowhere near the sharpness and quality that I got with the old Canon camera. When enlarged, the images are very grainy, even at the lowest ISO. The details look like smeared paint. I am very disappointed with my purchase and feel like I threw away the money that I used to buy the Sony camera. I wonder if I just got a bad individual camera, because of the good reviews that I read. Oh well, you live and learn.

Posted .Hi Blondie, We are sorry to hear that. You may try to select a bigger image size. The bigger the size of the image, the more details will be recorded on the image. You may also play with different shooting functions to get the best picture you want to achieve: https://helpguide.sony.net/gbmig/45306861/v1/en/cover/level2_04.html.

So Easy to Use!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am a beginner photographer. I wanted a camera that could take a wide variety of photos, particularly a good zoom. This camera was recommended by a friend and I read many positive reviews here and on other sites. Bought it for a trip to Costa Rica. I am so please with the pictures I was able to take ranging from close up to monkeys high up in trees. I have only used the basic features so far, looking forward to learning more. Love that it is easy to use. Also, takes great videos. Now my husband wants it too!

Clear pictures
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There is a learning curve on this one. It’s not very easy to operate. It would be helpful to have had someone demonstrate how to use it.

Great shots with lots of features
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this after extensive research on similar long zoom cameras. The color, focus, low light exposure, and zoom are great. In addition to full auto, the options to control aperture, shutter, and ISO make it fun to get more creative, with on screen reminders to help get the best shots.

Great Point & Shoot Camera
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had previous Sony models for years. I don't like how easy it is to change the wheel settings while taking a photo which affects how the picture can turn out. I also don't like that this camera has no internal memory. I can't tell you how many times i shot series of photos forgetting to put the card back in and having to re-shoot the photos all over. Also don't like that you have to plug the entire camera in to charge - older models had a battery charger. This is a great point and shoot camera with an excellent zoom. Has some issues with auto focus and missed some shots because of it. I like the long zoom but there's many things Sony has changed from previous models that makes me give this less than 5 stars.

Great, Sturdy Camera!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For the past few years, I have only had Nikon cameras; however, I started getting tired of them lagging and thus, missing my shots. With having 4 younger kids, it's hard to capture good pictures of someone not moving, so it's important to find a camera that can take good movement shots and my Nikons were not doing the job. On top of it, they would shut down randomly. I swore I would never get away from Nikon; however, I have done extensive reviews and I decided to try out a Sony. I decided to go with the open-box item because it was almost $100 cheaper. I just placed the order yesterday and it already arrived today. I took it out of the box and was pleased to find everything like brand new. I was also pleasantly surprised to feel how sturdy it felt. It was heavier than my latest Nikon P600, but for that reason, it does feel sturdy and better made. I haven't tried out too many shots yet, but for the few that I did, it definitely felt a lot faster and more crisp than I was used to on my Nikon. I am anxious to get outside more and take some more shots and especially more shots of my kids. I also love the zoom feature so far and the fact that you can zoom in 2 different ways, either on the lens itself, or, the button on the top. So far, I am pleased with my purchase and glad I chose to step out of my comfort zone and try a Sony!

Great Megazoom
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this camera for a couple of days. So far I'm impressed with the focusing speed. Picture quality is on par with other 1/2.3 sensor cameras. The lens cap is a joke. A real pain to take off and on the camera. I plan on getting a 55mm UV filter to protect the camera lens from smudges. Another minus for me is no external charger with this camera.

Starter Camera
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had this camera for little over a year now and it has exceeded my expectations. It is a great starter camera but little more. It is excellent to have for an inexperienced person and is great for moving to a more expert level. Not recommended if you have been in videography or photography before, especially videography. The photography part is where it takes over but the videography side is lacking in my opinion.

Good quality camera.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It is a very good quality camera as anything made by Sony we have. I like everything about it except quality of moving objects shots. My old Olympus camera still makes a better job with those.
