Customers recognize the DSC-HX400's superior camera quality, ease of use, and lightweight design as significant advantages. Many appreciate its impressive features and good battery life, along with its ability to perform well in low-light conditions. However, some users find the camera's size to be a drawback, and a few have expressed concerns about the lens cap and focusing capabilities. Overall, positive feedback on image quality and usability outweighs the negative comments regarding size and accessories.

I purchased the HDX-400V last weekend after meeting a fellow birder at the MSP International airport taking pictures of snowy owls. His photos of the snowy owls were incredible considering the distance that we were from the owls. He recommended the camera to me and said that it cost $400. After I got home, I researched the camera and watched some youtube videos about the 50x lense. The videos of the close up of the full moon convinced me that this is the camera for me. The camera cost was $399. The price of the camera was less than the price of a telephoto len for my Nikkon camera. I have used the camera for one week and I captured some amazing pictures with it. The camera is easy to use and the 50x lense is truly amazing at getting close up to wildlife. I would definitely recommend this camera.

Bought this camera for upcoming vacation and it was worth it. I got great pictures with limited time to learn how it operates. The automatic modes produced such great results I hardly ever used any other mode even thought I took pictures at all hours and in different lighting conditions.
50x Zoom brought distance objects into clear view. I love the pictures I was able to take with this camera.
My only issue is the wifi....it's so slow I will.probably never use it. I tried with both my ipad and android phones.

While I have had the camera for a couple of months, I am still learning / experimenting. My limited use has covered both still pix and video. The video has been great. The internal microphone(s) do not seem as good as what I had in a previous camera, and their location does pick up some camera sounds. To be more serious with video, the accessory external mics are probably a good idea. For still pix, I am impressed with the low light capabilities. I have used the flash very sparingly and the images come out great. So far everything has been great. My most recent experiments have been with phone control - very handy and slick.

I own Nikon but this is my go to camera. Little noisy but the pictures look great. Zoom is wonderful and battery life incredibly. Easy to operate. Image stability works really well. Low light and video is pretty good. If it lacks something it is the audio when you record video. Has a lot of creative settings and the owners manual is stored in camera if you need to learn about a feature For the price you pay it is really a great camera. Best Buy had a sale price which was the same as online. What more can I say. Thumbs up

Easy to set up and use! Sales person did a great job of describing the pros and he was right! On our trip to Israel the camera was perfect for the terrain, capturing close ups, and taking photos of everyone on the trip. Seriously easy to dial in the setting and start taking great pics. My last Nikon micro third camera was Not this easy to use. I should

Last bad decision! Don't trust me go and test this one out at BB, talk to a educated sales person which might take talking to a manager to find one that is working , and check out online research. You won't be disappointed. Good all around mid range micro third camera.

This camera a all the features you could ask for in a bridge camera, but... It's a bit heavy, the controls are awkward to use (time and experience should correct this) and your nose marks the display when using the viewfinder. Small point, the lens cap does not have a safety cable to prevent accidental loss.

I had a D3400 Nikon DSLR, which was great and all, but I returned it because I really didn't like the bulk of that camera and the limited zoom of the 300mm lens. This camera fits into a small bag and that 100x zoom is incredible. The shots are very clear. I'll post some sample pics below. For $449, you can't beat it.

I shoot DSLR, and it's nice to have a bridge camera to use in tight spots. This camera can do a lot of what the SLRs can, but the real kicker is the video quality. Top notch, by far the best in its price range.

The camera is overall good!!! It has great features, an awesome settings layout! It's easy to use, but it does lack in the video quality!!! The video is well but not well enough. Great starter camera, but if vlogging try out something else. Photos are great though!!!

This does a great job of zooming in on distant objects. However, for things like birds, it would be easier if you could also manually focus. At times it has to spend a great deal of time zooming in and out to try to focus on small things. So by the time it focuses, birds might have flown off. But it has a more powerful zoom than most of the lenses Best Buy keeps in stock for their expensive DSLRs.

Great Camera with Amazing OIS

Coming from a DSLR, this camera doesn't disappoint. While you don't get the flexibility, sensor quality or full capabilities that you get from a mid to high range DSLR, this is quite a capable camera. Probably best for families wanting to take high quality photos with extreme zoom, this camera delivers. Zooming to the maximum optical zoom - it's quite easy to take a steady shot. The stabilization technology is amazing. The sensor that turns on the view finder and turns off the screen is handy. That's another important point of this camera: It has a view finder. This may seem antiquated, but if you're making a decision to move away from a DSLR, it's a must - as it allows you to effectively frame your shot while steadying the camera (IS can only do so much) and is a must outside in the bright sunlight (as it's hard to see even the brightest LCDs). This is a great camera!!
