I read about this camera before purchasing and reviews were good, I know it has a carl zeiss lens being it will be crisper images just because of that, but also great at low light, fast focus and speeds. super zoom on it. love it. all in one.

A great camera. Easy to use. Takes great long distance pictures. Love how it zooms in even on long distance pictures. When your done taking your pictures you can even zoom in later on your camera and move it all around. I"d recommend it to any body.

It is easy to use, easy to carry and the picture quality is amazing. Love it and recommend it to anyone.

The camera takes superior pictures in daylight/bright light but the low light is extremely poor. I have a DHC-HX200 and it is superior in low light using the same settings. The DHC-HX200v can capture a illuminated museum display with great accuracy. Nice black background and crystal clear foreground. The HCX400 has a gray background with a huge blob of out of focus light for the foreground. Absolute terrible in side by side photographs between the HX200v and the HX400v. The worse thing about the HX400 is the memory card slot. When I change batteries, opening the batter cover partially ejects the SD card. I took over 100 irreplaceable pictures with the HX 400 with no error showing. After the last it shows a " No card" error came up. Upon investigation it seems when you press down to close the battery compartment it ejects the card. There is no warning but the pictures are not saved. I could see the pictures when I shot them and after "Processing" it went to the next picture but the pictures were not there at the end. I reseated the card and carefully closed the door. The next picture I took was saved with the next sequence number meaning the 100+ shots I took were gone with no trace of the files. I ran a card recovery software and there was no data on the card for the missing pictures. I lost a lot of memories with no way to recover and no error indication. My memory card works great in my HX200v. The 400v has incredible issues.

It is the best, beautiful pictures. If your starting in photography, this is an excellent option

Great zoom without having to add lenses. You can zoom in very clearly and it has an awesome steady feature

i chose this type of camera over ones with different lenses. For what I would be taking pictures of the 50X zoom is more than enough for me. I wanted to be able to take nice photographs but not have to carry the extra equipment. Photographs are excellent. Camera very easy to use.

Excellent camera for beginners, excellent pictures with lower knowledge of photography.

the sony camera has all the bells and whistles for the modern camera and can't wait to master this

Now that I've had it for a while, I have to say this camera is a very nice camera. I also have a Canon, but my Sony is just as good but a lot lighter because of the built-in zoom lens. This was a 5 Star Transaction.

The phone cameras are fantastic but in comparison when we took a group pic hers was outstanding. I bought it and was unsure of how to transfer the pics to my cell so i went back not the store and they gave me a quick lesson. There is so much more that I can do with this but I am happy with the vacation shots that I have taken so far. After transferring the pictures to my cell I then cropped and edited the pics to my liking. Years ago I sold cameras then later worked for Kodak for 10 yrs but as the years went on and into the digital age I found the ease of not having to change lenses but still able to get the telephoto shots that are incredible.

Purchased for a trip abroad in April. So I needed an upgrade and better quality than the simple compact Nikon camera I've been using. Very happy with the quality and ease of use. Simple to understand instruction and crisp quality imagery.

Great camera. I am not a professional but I wanted a camera that was easy to use and still take great pictures. This one does the trick. I especially love the amount of zoom. I can get good pictures of the water fowl at the far end of my backyard on the bayou.

Great camera, with great and easy to use features. Convenient instructions and directions found on the screen when needed. Great zoom and very easy download to your cell or computer. Glad I made the investment!

This was a Christmas gift for my son. He goes out in the woods (and everywhere else you can think of) to take pictures of animals of all kinds. While doing this of the course of several years, he has used a few other cameras of the same type and format. But he has repeatedly said this particular model was the best. Because of the places he goes, sometimes the weather or terrain can be unfriendly to a camera no matter how well you try to protect it. The flash stopped working on his first one of this model, but works great otherwise. He had the protection plan, but accidentally got the expiration date wrong and missed deadline. I got him one for Christmas so he has two now - one with flash and one without. And they take amazing pictures.

I have purchased these cameras over the years and it is still by far the best.
