Not a professional photographer by no means which makes this the perfect camera as this grandmother does not want to miss any of the grand kids activities. I love the Auto setting, zoom, low light exposure and Wi-Fi feature. No heavy lenses to carry or change. The view finder makes it easier to steady for the long zoom photos at ballet recitals. Beautiful clear photos for grandma bragging rights. When not photographing the grandchildren I'm in the garden taking pictures of my many gardens. This is my third Sony Point and Shoot camera, my only big complaint is the LCD Screen that over time discolors. I wish Sony could bring back the auto flash that pops up automatically with the lens cap popping off, and a fully auto zoom which would make this a six star perfect camera.

Powerful zoom, great technology enhancing simplicity

I bought this camera to start taking some birding pictures and the zoom makes it fast and easy to get some decent shots. It's not top level but without having lenses to change it's a great one stop shop to carry around. I'd definitely recommend this.

PARK....Bang for your buck camera ... the biggest issue with this camera is at time it is slow to react. The lens quality is killer, and user friendly. Great overall ability to do a lot of manual stuff as well.

I purchased a Sony Cybershot DSC-HX100V a few years ago & it still works fine, but I needed a 2nd Camera. After reading a TON of reviews, I went with the Sony - DSC-HX400, as it was the successor to my older CyberShot. It's hard to believe how many improvements & features Sony has added to the CyberShot line. I love my new DSC-HX400! I also purchased a mirrorless 4/3 camera about the same time, which was a total waste of money. The DSC-HX400 out-performs the DSLR in every respect. Couldn't be happier with my new Sony!! If you're 'on the fence' about cameras, get one! You won't be sorry.

I would recccomend this camera to anyone who is just starting out with photography. Awesome specs and takes amazing photos. Also I love that you can send the pictures directly from the camera to your phone!

am not a serious photographer, so my review will not be technically rigorous. I do enjoy my casual photography, especially when I come home with a few "keeper" shots like I've been lucky enough to do with this camera. I have been extremely pleased with this camera. Even in auto mode the photos have exceeded my expectations, even at the highest range of zoom. The details are staying crisp (water droplets on a loon's head, the iridescence of feathers) and the focus speed/shutter speed have allowed me to catch a couple photos I would not have thought possible with a camera of this type. I'm looking forward to learning more about this camera's capabilities and becoming more adept with the mega-zoom.

Awesome zoom but some noise issues at higher ISOs - this may be okay 95% of time but serious photographers might pass on this one. Also indoor action shots at zoom is still blurred. But it's lighter in weight than my current DSLR though and the Zeiss lens was a selling point.
