    Quality Controller but too small.

This controller is a pretty big improvement over the PS2 and older SIXAXIS controllers. With the Dualshock 3 you get rumble support as well as more overall weight. You will also get a built-in rechargable battery pack with a charge cable that hooks right up to your PS3. It holds a long charge (25-30 hours) as well. The L2 and R2 buttons are now triggers which is a decent improvement over the PS2 but not as good as the Xbox 360 triggers. The joysticks are also the most free-flowing of any current-gen controller. It's as close to mouse and keyboard accuracy you can get out of a controller at the time. My only gripes with the design is that it is a little too small (the palm grips need to be longer) and the placement of the left trigger and D-pad could be switched up. The SIXAXIS is actually a nice feature in my opinion as long as it's utilized right (Ratchet and Clank, Killzone 2). I gave Durability a 5 because my friend submerged his in a glass of water and it works fine. Value for price is also a 5 because for $55 you get a quality controller with a built-in rechargable battery and cable as well as limited motion-control. Some people complain about the price being too high compared to the Xbox 360 controllers but just do the math. To get the Xbox controller and play and charge kit it costs $75 after tax whereas for only $55 you get both in the PS3 controller.

Just tripping over the cord shouldn't break a controller.

"I have this controller that came with my PS3. I am glad it has the rumble feature, and it is especially nice to be able to turn the PS3 on and off with a button on the controller. I played on the PS2 for years with a wireless Pelican controller, but it never had the great feel and comfort of the Sony controller. The battery life is great. I play for hours at a time, and don't have to charge it very often. The only downside is that you have to have the PS3 on to charge it. I will be getting a wall charger to avoid this. I would like to buy another one so that while one is charging I can still pay without a cord hanging down in front of the TV (my PS3 is on top of my TV) while the controller is charging. The only thing that holds me back is the price. The best Sony controller so far."

Using the control you feel like the buttons are glued to the control, this gives you a bad experience.

I love this thing! You never need batteries for it. All you gotta do is charge it and im totally fine with that. Ive dropped this thing a couple times and it hasnt given me any problems. I need to get another cause i only have one but the problem is that its freaking $55!!! I could buy a freaking brand new realease game for just $5 more. It should be like $40 at least. But whatever what are you gonna do! The thing rocks!

Can't Beat It for PS3 Gaming

Yes, these are a little pricy, but keep in mind most controllers sold on the auction sites are counterfeit. I wanted the real deal at a reasonable price, so I took advantage of BB's new price matching policy and bought these locally. I didn't want any 3rd party controllers, and these are obviously Sony originals. The setup could not be easier - plug it in using your PS3's USB cord, hit the PS button and you are ready to go. On the downside, the batteries are not charged out of the box, so budget an hour or two to get them fully charged and ready to use. Also, my kids (age 5 and 3) occasionally have a tough time with all the button ergonomics, but it's more a function of their little hands than the controller. Overall, these are the only controllers I would ever dream of buying for my PS3. I now own four of these and they have served me well.

Dont buy other than Sony for Sony

This is the controller that now goes standard with the Sony ps3 and tell you one thing, amazing. Egronomics may not be as comfortable as the xbox 360's controllers for some but those *the xbox* contorllers are not good for your hands and fingers having your thumbs in 2 different postions for long periods of time. Also the durability on these is superb! Trust me, i of all people should know. i tend to have that 'Call Of Duty' temper and have thrown it at a wall several times and no damage. i am strong and threw this a good 40 mph, no joke and only till the recent throw did it crack down the seam, yet still works. Astonishing product and is put down at a price good enough to have 2-4 to play with friends. One last thing, the battery lasts a VERY long time for game-play and the blutooth connection is great! BUY NO OTHER CONTROLLER FOR PS3! ONLY A FOOL WOULD DO SO!

A bit heavier than previous controller but feels comfortable. Rumble function is lots of fun with supported games and feedback experience occurs in real-time. PS3 controllers are pricey but compared to previous one, extra cost of upgrading is worth it.

We had three other controllers for a really long time and they've been dropped on our tiled floor multiple times over the past two-ish years but didn't have any problems until recently (joystick kept getting stuck). Purchased these to replace the older ones! Great product!

First-party is the way to go

You just can't get a third-party controller. Unless we're talking about fight sticks or other peripherals, first-party is the way to go. If you have a PS3, get this. If you want a controller for your PC, maybe look into the Xbone controller.

Great controller. it is a great feeling to finally be able to play my favorite games from anywhere in the room, wireless. This controller offers much and allows comfortable play, however, the price is too high.

    Sony Top Quality

Sony Dual Shock 3 controller. The newest addition to the Sony collection. It has many features to offer. What I love about the controller is that its wireless. No, more tangles or tripping over cords. Also the charge ability. Once the controller is charge it last for a great deal of time. For me personally weeks on end Also the six axis feature is awesome. Its like a steering an invisible wheel. Then you can play from a long distance. Being able to access the menu and turn the PlayStation off form the controller as well. Check it out.

Great controller, much better then the first gen

This second generation controller is much nicer with the added weight from the vibration parts that are inside. The first controller just seemed too light and very fragile but this one feels much more like the PS2 controller. The battery life seems to be very good and being Blutooth is very nice if you are very far away from your PS3 or if you have it hidden away within an enterntainment center. The larger shoulder buttons are not the most comfortable and sometimes get in the way and are not as responsive due to their size.

    THE controller in gaming

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

For all your PS3 gaming needs, the Dual Shock 3 Wireless is the controller to have. Playstation enthusiasts will love falling right into the comfort of the controller they have known for years. Rumble and button positioning is kept mostly intact. The difference in this iteration is the six-axis control scheme that is implemented here and there. Great potential. The best features by far are the easy-to-set-up, far-reaching wireless capability (with charging done through the PS3's provided USB cable) and the surprisingly lengthy battery life. If you're a gamer like me with a distaste for battery replacement, this is a must-have. My only gripe is the MRP of $54.99, but this is a standard distaste during this generation of consoles and comparable to the price of a Wii remote + nunchuk combo or the Xbox 360 wireless controller. For the gamer in need of comfort, wireless, and good battery life, the Sony DS3 wireless controller should top his or her list.

I actually have 4 controllers. Glad I have 2 systems cause it seems playstation is stepping away from family played games.Or the companies that make the games for them are.The controllers last a while,I got a table charger for 2 controllers at a time and it works great .Keeps all 4 charged and usable.I have big hands so I must admit I like the original xbox design the best for systems. It was big enough to keep my hands comfortable for much longer time. Not much changed in playstations paddle designs ,but still enjoy them greatly.2 of my paddles are atleast 3 years old and still keep a great charge and work perfect.

    Best Bet Controller

Absolutely love the PS controller, ever since PS2. These babies are rechargeable so you don't have to putz around with batteries. Unfortunately, they are SUPER expensive. That being said though, I haven't had any problems with any of my four controllers (I've only had them for maybe half a year) and they've been dropped, sat upon, and who knows what else. Good investment. Highly recommended.
