Customers commend the DualShock 4 Back Button Attachment's ease of use, the helpful addition of back buttons, and its reasonable price. Many appreciate the performance boost and customization options it offers, although some find the size and added bulk to be a drawback. A few users also noted that it may slightly decrease battery life and that installation can be a bit challenging.

Easy to setup, difficult to adjust to
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As a long time, non-pro gamer, I have never tried to use fancy third party controllers with "extra" buttons. But the back button attachment is reasonably priced, so I gave it a shot. It's super easy to setup and get going (slides on while your controller is off and you simply push down on the back screen to assign a button function to each paddle). The hard part is A) figuring out the best setup for you; and B) retraining your brain. For those who are used to back buttons and remapping, this is a no brainer purchase, but for those who are new to trying it out, I can say it's worth it, but be prepared to adjust. At first the microseconds saved using the buttons will be lost in telling your brain to use a finger it doesn't normally use in gaming. But after a little time it becomes second nature. Just requires some practice.

This accessory is awsome
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Took some time getting use to, but once accustomed this accessory is a game changer. For just $30 and I believe its now $20, this is a great option to have the edge in FPS games. I only play Call of Duty and back buttons/paddles is a must have so you can jump or crouch without moving your thumb, so you are always aiming. Sonys option in my opinion is way better than Xbox Elite controller, Scuf or other third parties because they are expensive, whereas this is only $30. I am disappointed that Sony didn't have a Back Button attachment for the PS5's Dualsense controller, but I saw a patent in February that Sony may develop one. So i am stuck playing the PS4 version of Black Ops Cold War.

Not bad
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Better then expected. Makes controller a little thick, but got used to it quickly. Buttons feel great and waaayyy cheaper then a Scuf or any modded controller. A little hard to insert.. but not impossible.

A Godsend!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It’s hard to believe that such a simple and inexpensive add-on can be this helpful. The Sony Back Button Attachment enables you to add two additional buttons to your controller. Here are some specific examples of how it has already been beneficial. My wife and I play a lot of LEGO games. Those games have air and water races. The most challenging of these races requires you to control the camera, direction, and action button simultaneously. By mapping the action button to one of the new back/paddle buttons, you don’t have take your thumb off the analog stick. For action games like Star Wars: Fallen Jedi, I map the sprint action to one of the back paddles, because it can be a difficult action to pull off on the L3 thumb stick (at least for me). You can program three profiles on the Back Button Attachment. So instance, I’ll have a profile for action games, a second for fighting games, and a third for racing games. The buttons are simple to program and the unit fits very securely onto any PS4 Dual Shock 4 controller. Sony’s Back Button Attachment is literally a game changer, and I very highly recommend it!

A great and quick upgrade to the PS4 controller!
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have purchased this as an enhancement to the PS4 controller to have additional easier access to the customized buttons. Once I installed it, it worked beautifully. Very easy access assignable buttons with quick presets on the LED display key button. Very affordable upgrade. Highly recommended. The only negative point would be the installation. This is a very tight installation, so it has be carefully locked in to install which is understandable for the design.

I'm so happy this was made
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been using a 3rd party accessory that attaches to the back of my controller and gives me two back paddles. It's very useful for a lot of games that don't allow remapping. The problem is that it only works wired and it conflicts with wireless headphones each time you start your PS4. That got old really quick and I started using it less and less. Now it sits in a drawer and I only use it very rarely. In comes Sony and their announcement of this attachment. I was so excited to hear of it that I was ready to pick mine up on release date. This little device is light and feels sturdy once it's installed. The screen lights up and is easy to setup. You get 3 profiles and you can assign a button to each paddle. Unfortunately, you can only assign one button to each paddle, so no combinations. Sony could have release a "Pro" controller for their system just like Xbox has done with the Elite controller (and series 2), but the way I see it, we already have a couple of options from Scuff and Astro. And if your controller breaks, you can always just move this little device to your next controller. And for $30, it's cheaper than other fancy controllers.

Pretty cool accessory
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a pretty cool device. It adds 2 back buttons to your PS4 controller and you can customize those 2 buttons. The price is pretty good. It takes some getting used to because the controller feels bulkier, but once you do it's fine. It doesn't drain the controller too much at all and you could leave it on all the time and charge the controller like normal with it on. Pretty fun.

Great buttons and good price
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’d like to start off saying that this is a lot cheaper of an option compared to scuff or other elite controllers. I have also heard that the scuff paddles are in a terrible spot. These buttons work great; the buttons feel pretty good overall. They are difficult to spam though. Although, What I really like is that the buttons are in the perfect spot. They rest right under your middle finger if you use each index finger to press both trigger buttons, and if you use both index and middle fingers to click the bumpers and the triggers then the buttons will rest right under your ring fingers. So, whatever grip you use the triggers will be in a good spot. And since they don’t unless you need them to you can rest your fingers right on the triggers without accidentally pressing them. One downside however is that it is awkward to put the attachment on, but this won’t be an issue unless you take it on and off a lot. Best Buy also was cheaper than Amazon, not to mention this is commonly out of stock on Amazon. Would definitely recommend this back button attachment, and buying it from Best Buy.

Paddle Controls
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been curious about the 'elite' controllers that add-in back paddles to your controller. The problem that I have with most of them is that I just like the PS4 controller. It fits so well in my hands and I just prefer it over the other controllers. Thankfully, this just adds the back paddle buttons to my controller, thankfully it is removable as well. Adding the two buttons is great in a good amount of games. I have been using it while playing Apex Legends. It allows me to crouch/slide without lifting my thumbs from the sticks. The concept of the back buttons is great and I think most controllers need this feature. The ability to switch what the buttons are assigned to so easily and on the fly is phenomenal. It doesn't add much weight or bulk to the controller from my perspective. Overall it is a great accessory for the controller. It is great and helps with a ton of games.

Takes some getting used to...
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This add-on is really a steal for only $30. I will say it takes some getting used to as it is quite bulky and adds a good bit of weight to the controller, but if you initially force yourself to start playing with it, you won't regret it. The peripheral comes with a programmable OLED screen on the back of it so that you can see the button assignments if you flip the controller over and long-press the screen. Double-pressing the OLED screen allows you to choose between 3 customizable preset button configurations of the 2 back triggers. This device allows me to make much quicker reaction shots due to the easier finger placement when assigned to act as L2 and R2, although I do wish the button sensitivity was a little a little less stiff. All in all, with PS5 on the way im not sure if this would be the best investment option unless you plan on continuing to play on the PS4, but it is definitely worth your while if you choose to buy.

Great! Will change your game.
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I highly recommend purchasing one or more of these if you play some type of shooter. I am a casual player, but being able to remap your jump and roll is priceless. You suddenly have the ability to jump and roll without taking your hand off of the aim and directional joysticks. This give a huge advantage, but also makes the game a lot more fun. You are still able to plug in wired headsets, it passes through the button attachment device, using a 3.5 jack found on the bottom. Sound works flawlesly and so does a microphone attachment to your headset. I have two issues with this devide. One, it comes with absolutely no instruction at all. I do not recommend trying to remap before looking up how to on youtube. There are fast tutorials that explain it, making it very easy once someone shows you. Two, it drains the battery of your dualshock controller extremly fast. I spend more time with my controller plugged in while I play, to recharge the controller and keep it from turning off mid-game.

This thing is a sneak peek at the next gen norm.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this because I had an xbox one elite controller; but it did not hold up well at all and is now a $150 piece of garbage. I hesitated to buy a SCUF but this is the next best thing and the price was unbeatable. I was immediately impresed by how easy it was to set up and how well the response time is. Its nice that I can change a customization from an FPS to a racing game in a quick tap. It feels great like its part of the controller and doesn't get in the way. The only gripe I would make about the thing is that for some reason when it is connected it will cause my controller to just shut off mid-session about every 10-15 minutes whether the controller is plugged in or not. The controller battery is fine and the issue is not there when this adapter is removed. I have an original dualshock 4 though so I am hoping it is just an old firmware issue. I don't have a second controller troubleshoot though. bottom line- i would recommend, and hope if you have a newer manufactured dualshock 4 you'll have better luck than me.

Great value.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Compared to Scuf, I'd say this is way better because of the cost and it's by sony so it isn't just a cheap feeling attachment. I only have games that PS+ gives so I have only used it in Call of Duty World War 2. I left the setup to default X and O buttons. I only play public matches and I'm not a super competitive player but I do try to win. I recommend for sure as long as you're not paying over retail. Lots of resellers online and I suggest not to support them due to them increasing prices from suggested retail which is 30 or 40 USD. Takes a little getting used to but stick with it. I haven't mastered it yet but after a month I'm much better at using the back buttons instead of forgetting i have them and using the face buttons.

Not for everyone
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this little thing, it works great and is very simplistic so it doesn't distract too much from the aesthetics of the controller. The mapping functions are easy to program and even easier to flip through. That being said, if you have giant lunch boxes for hands then just stay away from this accessory. You're pinkies will be hanging off the controller and I promise you you're hand will cramp up as a result of only using 3 digits to grip the controller lol. I'm generalizing of course but this is my experience anyway, I've learned to squeeze all my fingers around the controller handles to make it work but honestly it's not worth it. It's only like $20 bucks now but I'd still save my money. Try if you'd like though as it can make some games much easier to play and will give you an advantage, I'm using mine with Cyberpunk 2077 right now; don't ask about that game lol.

Fits in seamlessly into the controller
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Made very well and easy to setup. Fits comfortably on the controller as if it was built into it and its comfortable. Its nice mapping the button the needs for me to keep hoping down a button feels very naturally. Good for MOBAS or racing games.

An addition to the controller you need!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very cool accesory to my controller. I use the PS4 controller on my PC playing games like call of duty Warzone and horizon zero dawn and having the back pedals attachment as extra buttons really gives me an edge on gaming. The only draw back I thought was connecting it to the controller. I didn’t really know what I was doing as the instructions were not that detailed and I had to go on YouTube to see someone do it themselves. I thought I was gonna break it lol but after connecting it in it was easy to navigate and issue buttons to the extra pedals. Holding the controller with the pedals felt a little weird at first but it felt nice in my hands after using it for awhile. If you are in need to find another solution to navigating your buttons easier I definitely recommend picking one of these up

Why should I spend $250 on a Scuf?
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am SO happy that these were made available again. I hoped to purchase this product in February when it was released, but instead waited to receive it for my birthday later in the month. By the end of the month they were not available anywhere but all of the price gaugers wanted upwards of $100 for them. Anyways fast forward to now and a month or more later I have definitely enjoyed adding this attachment to my controller and can't imaging playing without it. The reason for the 4 out of 5 Stars is simply because they do not recommend removing it numerous times to switch it to a a different controller. I do hope that it will be compatible with the PS 5 controllers once that is released later this year. If they are not, then I hope Sony will see fit to release another back button attachment that will, and at a similar price point. This makes pro gaming affordable for guys like me!

It's a good buy for gamers with large hands
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This has changed the style of how I play my games now. It's so much easier using this attachment to program to the buttons I need to reach the quickest, and it's super simple to set up! Recommend this if you are into FPS games.

Really changes how you play
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. No joke, my PVP game improved with this (Destiny 2). Before, it was really hard to jump, turn, and shoot at the same time just because of how you're changing your hand position to reach the jump button but now with the jump being a button on the back of the controller, I have more freedom to turn midair and continue to shoot. I was told to pick up Scuf controller but after seeing the price and not being sure if I'd really benefit, I was hesitant to splurge. This attachment is an easy investment if you want to try a controller with back buttons without going full $150+ for a "professional" controller. I haven't seen that much of a diminished battery life while using the attachment. My only gripe is that you can't add/remove the attachment while the controller is on otherwise you may freeze either the controller or the system.

Interesting and good for competition
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This accessory to the PS4 Dualshock 4 is an interesting attachment. It adds pre-customized button layouts that mostly help players to keep their thumbs on the sticks instead of shifting constantly to the face buttons. I'd recommend this to someone that plays first person shooters and want's to get an edge up on the competition. The only drawbacks are: This attachment is somewhat difficult to secure in place, when I first attached it I thought it might snap into two pieces, but it went on fine. I'm unable to have this attached and use my controller charging station at the same time.
