The base system only comes with one controller. You need 2 of these if you're going to play 2-players (or if you tend to game for long periods of time and want to charge one while you use the other).

After waiting an entire year for the Sunset Orange controller, I wound up having to purchase the red one again. Hopefully itll hold up longer than 2 months, unlike the sunset orange. Considering I have my original red controller from the first ps4 launch, I have high hopes.
