No frills, no display showing tracks or time, but I knew this when I purchased this very inexpensive--yet a brand name(Sony)--unit. Excellent value for the money

Would recommend to people that are just changing over from VHS tapes and do not like new technology. Very simple to use.

Only downside is that, despite its claim of a "universal" remote, forget about it. You can't use it to control your TV also.

Has external control buttons on the unit itself so if you misplace the remote you can still use it. And the remote that comes with it also allows you to control the TV and select the TV input. All necessary features in this day and age.

It looked like it had only been open but never touched as everything was still wrapped and the cords were still factory tied and packaged. The set up was a little confusing at first, but once I got past that, i love it! Works great and great picture. Good buy for the price.
