I had to help it open. Today the DVD tray never opened. (12/31/2019). For the cost of this I think I got my moneys worth. I paid $69.00.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Setup instructions were very confusing, because the illustration didn't look like the remote did and the simplified text gave almost no information. I struggled for several minutes to get to the setup screen. Once I completed the setup, I was able to see the video on my television, but could not get any sound. I tried for a long time afterwards to return to the setup screen, but had trouble navigating the remote. Nothing I tried could correct the problem and get sound. Many of the buttons on the remote control did nothing. I finally decided that I'm not going to waste any more time with the DVD player. It's going back. My aggravation is compounded by the fact that this was the second DVD player I bought. I couldn't use the first one because the only connection was an HDMI port, but the one HDMI port on my television is already consumed by my Comcast cable box.

The motor on the player got slower and slower and then every disc we played was skipping and then it was like the player just got worn out and died, yet it was just a few months old. Piece of junk. Waste of money.

Don't waste your time or money

The Sony would not even give me the episode on the DVD that I selected. When the episode did appear, it took a good 30 seconds before the DVD was read and the episode surfaced. Took forever to load.
