Lens is sharp, compact and covers a great range goes well with my 24-70. The light weight of it makes it eazy to bring along!

My new favorite lens. Love taking landscape photos, especially below the 24mm range! Would be have been nice if this would be a 16-28 instead!

This lens is great. I use it for real estate. My Old Sony lens ended up breaking after 4 years so i upgraded to this one. Photos are clear and the wide angle is great but doesn't make the photo look too wide( Fish eye Lens)

Its small and compact. bought it open box for 849. looks brandnew.

The Sony FE 16-25 mm F2.8 G is a full frame lens designed for Sony's E-mount camera bodies. As typical for Sony native lenses, this one is reasonably well weather-sealed. There is a dedicated aperture ring which you can select either click/ratchet rotation or smooth rotation. AF/MF switch which is located below the customizable button on the left, so it falls naturally where your thumb would rest (for a right handed grip). The hood clicks into place and doesn't jiggle. The biggest factor you'll notice is the (lack of) weight. Wide-angle with a minimum 16 mm focusing distance makes this a nice one lens option for a variety of uses. The lens also performs well in low light, so the 16-25mm range makes this a great option for Vloggers or creators filming in darker conditions, i.e. gaming streamers. Autofocus capability is superb, which is also par for the course for Sony. This lens is an ideal setup with the a7C series, as the small form factor and light weight don't completely offset the advantages of the new compact full frame bodies. Image quality is excellent, very sharp, but at the two extremes, there was some slight blurring in the corners. Overall thoughts: lightweight, sharp, quick autofocus that won't make you feel like you're missing out on the legendary Sony AF. Not a G series, but compares pretty well given the cost savings over the master series lenses. Excellent versatility for video or photos.

I’ve always lusted after those G-master lenses and especially a wide angle zoom variety. I’m sure the GM 16-35 2.8 is incredible but at a price of around $2000+, that’s just out of my price range and hard to justify. This lens is the answer! At about half the price, this still has a max 2.8 aperture, a physical aperture ring, great image quality, all while being quite light weight. The controls are also fantastic where it has a focus mode switch to switch between auto and manual as well as a customizable focus hold button. And of course, the physical aperture ring which you can set to be clicky or be smooth depending on your taste. One thing I was not expecting was the close-up performance where it can get as close as 0.18 meters or 0.59 feet. This allows me to get close to objects while still being able to get quite a bit of background which helps create more context and shows more of the scene. The 16-35 GM II has more range which is probably the only thing that makes a notable difference for me, however you can apparently still use up to a 2X teleconverter with this lens. So you could expand the range of this lens quite a bit with a converter while having more money in your pocket vs an FE 16-35 GM II. I couldn’t be happier with the performance of this lens and the lighter, more compact nature of this lens makes it even better.

Unboxing: This lens was packaged well and there was not much to unbox if you have a Sony E-Mount camera already then, your familiar with what the experience is like. Use: The Lens is small and light. I love the 2.8 constant aperture especially in low light such as an indoor scene or at evening sporting events. I found this lens to produce sharp video for a wide scene of an entire football team at the end of game. This is huge since my standard 24-70 lens is typically not wide enough. Also, the marching band can be hard to photograph and record. This lens was able to accomplish that very easy since it had a much wider focal range. When playing back the video I did not hear the lens focusing and when zooming in/out of a scene there was a little noise but not much. If I pull focus just a little slower, you do not even hear the lens at all. I feel like this is a huge pro since my use of the lens is handheld at events. The combination of the light lens and camera body was just amazing compared to my other lenses. Lens performance of pictures. I like the range however beyond group or tight indoor settings. I find this lens more of a special use focal length. I personally use the 24-70, 70-200 and 16-25 (last) as far as my order of most used lenses. It is not because the lens is bad but just that the range of my photo/video style is more the traditional to telephoto range. There is a significant amount of vignetting from 16mm through 25mm. Same applies for barrel distortion as some is present. Fortunately, all can be fixed in post such as Adobe Lightroom. After the lens correction is applied everything came out perfect. I did test another 2.8 lens and these both seem to perform very well wide open. This can be an issue on some lenses but not here. I found everything to focus fast and remain sharp. There was no percieved focus shift or struggling with focus even in low light. Build Quality: I found the lens to be built well. They included caps and a lens hood. The controls are tight and well made. I love the weight of the lens for a 2.8 G series lens. Final Summary: I think Sony hit this out of the park with this lens. It performs excellent for stills and video. There is no noise from the focus motor and very little when zooming, which makes it excellent for video. The colors and sharpness are there 100% of the time. The only concerns are the slight vignetting and distortion which is expected with a lens for this price and wide focal range. I highly recommend it.
