Sony camera / lens build quality is bad. Buy Canon

It’s been sitting in the box for a year and I took it out and discovered this. A few weeks past warranty so zero help from Best Buy or Sony. A high level “G” lens and it’s got an obvious manufacturing defect. I hoped Best Buy as a major Sony retailer might try to help me deal with Sony but nope. Oh well.

Be careful buying Open Box!!!!!!

The lens was listed as excellent but it was broken on arrival. The focus motor was broken and the camera could not read the lens. The condition of the lens was perfect but it did not work. BB just needs to do a better job inspecting open box items. I have gone to purchase an a7riii open box and after opening the box in the store there was an a6000 in the box. Someone did a switch out and either the returner or ???? Also I was using it on an a7riii and all of my other lens work fine.

Full frame and 1.8 makes for a nice shallow depth of field considering its a 20mm. Works wonders on my a7siii. Sets up nice on the Rs3 as well. Would highly recommend, eapecially for video work.

I wish sony made more lenses like this

Defective lens

Customer service rep approved my return without restocking fee and suggested me bring the lens to store. The store employees finally made the return for me and I’m pleased with it. Sony need to improve their build quality.

GREAT PRODUCT/VLOGGING Lens

I have used this in so many product shoots and reviews that I have done for my channel. I didn't go with the 16mm cause I also shoot cars and actual people with this lens and my camera. So I needed a focal length that was versatile and this fit the box! I would recommend this if you are doing any of this stuff or traveling alot too. It is a great travel high quality lens.

Best Astro Lens

This lens is like the GM but $500 cheaper! GM's are overpriced IMO. Oh and the small size makes it great for travel!
