A great zoom lens with wide aperture. Perfect for street photgraphy. It may not zoom to 70mm but compromise had to be made to keep it compact.

Impressive build and image quality nearly on par with Sony’s G-Master line. I wish it had a little more range on the long end but it’s a perfect fit for the A7C line, or even an A6700.

Some flaws but small and comoact. Great for travel

As a content creator, one of the most important pieces of equipment is your lens. The glass you shoot with means much more than even the camera body. That being said, there are a few things I find important when it comes to lenses used for creating content. To name a couple both focal length and aperture are things I find important. I think the focal length of this lens is perfect for an all around lens. At 24mm it is wide enough for vlogging and shooting landscapes. At the other end 50mm allows you to zoom in for portraits and when you need to get a little closer. Although a lens that goes both wider and zooms further would be great, I believe the shorter zoom allows for this lens to stay compact. This lens is both compact and light weight which allows for you to take it anywhere without taking up much space. Regardless of its size and weight it also feels like it is built well and durable. Rubber rings are included around the buttons, switches, and mount to allow this lens to be both dust and moisture resistant. This is a bonus for anyone who creates content in the not so best conditions. If I could only choose one aperture, I would choose a 2.8 fixed aperture any day. I think this is the key to getting both great bokeh and professional looking photos or videos. This lens also has great close up performance. It can focus at 7.09” at 24mm. This is great if you do unboxings, tech reviews, and other tabletop videography/photography. There is a ring on the lens that allows you to adjust the aperture quickly, this also frees up one of your dials on the camera. There is also a switch that allows the aperture ring to click or be smooth. A lens hood is included which is a bonus for shooting video/pictures in direct sunlight. A lens hood also helps keep dust and other things off of your lens. One thing I found odd is that the lens is fully extended at 24mm and the shortest at 50mm. I am used to shooting on Canon and I am new to Sony so this might be a Sony thing. One of the most important things when it comes to a lens is image quality. This lens has great image quality. Another great advantage of an F2.8 lens is that it has great low light quality. The 11-blade circular aperture makes the bokeh crisp and the images clear. Although it does not have built-in image stabilization, cameras such as my A7 iii have built in stabilization. Combined with this fast aperture lens, you can shoot smooth handheld footage as long as it is at a wider focal length. Overall, this is a great lens that has become my most use lens. This is a perfect all around lens especially if you have to choose only one. This is also a great travel lens because it is a great do it all lens. A 2.8 aperture lens will give you just about the best bokeh you can get without switching to a prime lens.

I do livestreams daily, and this lens is just a no brainer

Simply Superb Camera Lens! I use this for my landscape photography and photo studio for clients. I have used this camera now for a week paired with my Sony Alpha 7R III and luckily this lens arrived just before my trip to Colorado for some leaf peeping on the shoulder season. As I did multiple half day hikes to get the shots I wanted, having this light weight FE 24-50mm lens was wonderful. Coming in just shy of one pound, I never felt bogged down by the weight as I do sometimes with my much larger (and heavier) Sony FE 24-70 G master lens (an awesome lens by the way). I was able to get edge to edge crisp shots of landscapes, close up mountain flowers, aspens in change and river photos along the Colorado River. This lens performed famously in both sunlight and low light conditions thanks to the F2.8 aperture at a low shutter speed. Also, as the weather can change quite rapidly in the front range of Colorado, having the fluorine coating as well as the weather resistant feature was very much welcome on this lens. My one concern with this lens was it’s lack of in lens stabilization as on 2 of my hikes, I did not take a tripod. I was amazed actually that when I returned home and viewed the images in my photo software, that 99 percent of the images were without motion artifact or blur. I am guessing the few bad ones were operator error on my part. I was also quite impressed with the close up shots of the flowers I took at 24mm – they were all in focus and had a nice background blur that I was aiming for with the proper camera settings. While I love my FE 24-70 G Master, this lens will have an equal place in my arsenal of lenses, especially when I need something lighter for a days shoot. I am definitely impressed with this offering from Sony and I recommend it highly.

I recently put it through its paces on a trip to the Tail of the Dragon in Tennessee, a notoriously scenic yet challenging drive, and this lens proved to be a perfect companion. Its compact design made it incredibly convenient to pack and carry, while the high build quality inspired confidence when capturing the beauty of the landscape. One of the things I loved about the lens is its versatility. The 24-50mm focal range is perfect for everyday use, from wide-angle landscapes to more intimate portraits or details. At every focal length, the G Lens image quality shines through with exceptional sharpness and clarity. Thanks to the four aspherical and two ED (Extra-low Dispersion) elements, distortion and color fringing were nearly non-existent in my images. Even shooting wide open at f/2.8, I was able to get beautifully soft bokeh while maintaining sharpness on my subjects—ideal for isolating details along the scenic byways of the Dragon. The autofocus performance also impressed me. Whether I was shooting stills or video, the dual linear motors worked in harmony with my Sony α9 III, ensuring fast and accurate focus, even when shooting at high speeds. First impression - whoa, small and light, I could carry this all day. The Sony FE 24-50mm made a good match to my Sony ZV-E10. The next thing one notices are the physical features of the lens. There's a slide switch to toggle between auto focus and manual focus, an aperture ring to advance between the zoom ranges, and a switch to turn off the clicking for step less focal length adjustment. This lens is almost the perfect lens for me. Fast and low light while being capable of handling shooting landscapes to capturing just a single subject seated at a desk. And doing this all with all day comfort. For normal day to day type work, the zoom ranges covera what I need without paying the weight penalty for really tight close ups. Unfortunately, they do happen from time to time as I've been incorporating more device/mechanism internals and movement in my work. Performance is pretty good but it would be nice if this had optical stabilization. Looking at raw, there's vignetting which makes me realize that the camera itself has been helping to make this lens look good. The distortion could be an issue for some, especially if used with a much more basic camera since it's not correctable in LightRoom. But, it's only in the corners so some planning and cropping could address this depending on what you're shooting.
