This lens is starting to grow on me, but the motorized focus adjuster goes in and out and in and out every time that I want to take a picture and it doesn't always capture it on the first try. BUT, if you change your setting to Auto, the camera and the lens work very well capture crisp images. I don't usually use auto, but I will with this lens for the time being. I do use it with manuel focus and I have no problems with the motorized focus. The lens hood is great for covering the lens, which pops out when focusing, so that you will not get any dust or moisture, since the lens is not weatherproofed. It's light. Made of durable plastic, but it does have the metal with the electronics when you mount it to your camera. It feels good. Other than that, I am starting to like it. I have the Sony a7s II. Also, with video, the lens focuses a tad bit too slow, but, I'll need to work around that too. So car, I can just use manuel focus. The lens is sharp, though. Nice colors out of it.

Love this lens if you are on a budget for a 50mm! Great quality photos. Recommend every beginner to have this!

Great lens for the price. I'm not a professional, but this takes solid portraits and helps with low light shots because of the large aperture. Only downside is it's a fixed focal length, meaning you can't zoom, so you have to physically move around to get the ideal shot. I use this on a Sony A6000.

★★★★★ Everyone needs this lens in their kit. It's the cheapest great quality prime lens Sony has ever released, producing crisp and clear photos with a classic bokeh look. The autofocus is fast and accurate, and the lens is compact and lightweight. Though it can be a bit noisy when focusing, it's a small price to pay for the excellent stills. This may be the niftiest fifty I've ever owned!

I use this lens with my A6700 which has a 1.5 crop so this is about a 75mm lens on my camera. Portrait shoots is what I use this lens for. Excellent sharpness, fast focus and the bokeh behind the subject is nice and smooth.

This is my honest review of the Sony 50mm f/1.8. I've owned lots of 50mm f/1.8 during my 10 years of being a photographer and this one is just "okay". it's like the nifty fifty for Nikon. Slower than you really want it to be but gets the job done. It's okay for still photos, if you're patience, I wouldn't recommend it for sport or fast action as the autofocus is slower than any other newer Sony lens. But it works and the image quality is pretty stellar. For Video, I wouldn't rely on this if you need accurate autofocus that's quick enough. If you're just manual focusing okay then. It's a good lens, You just have to be patience while using it.

Great product and great way to start your Photography journey. I recommend to anyone that wants that blury feature on a photo with one person or item as the main focus point.

The second version of this lens (SEL50F18F/2) performs phenomenally well. It's sharp wide open, very fast, and the bokeh is fantastic for a budget lens. Size is incredible, as well as the weight. And paired with a camera with IBIS or gimbal, your shots will be sharp. Even shot some portraits with a Sony A6100 and got awesome files! The feel of this lens is a good mix between quality and budget. I picked it up at a discounted price and am truly very happy. I always find myself reaching in for this little guy more often than not!

This lens provides excellent, crisp images. Easy to use. I highly recommend this lens for everyday photos or videos.

The f/1.8 is great for portrait shots. I use a variety of lenses when I shoot with my Sony Alpha A7iii, but I'm always pleased when I use this one. Shots are crisp and clear. 10/10

The biggest concern people have with this lens is the autofocus. Is the AF super fast? No. Is the AF a little loud? Yes. However, the point is that this is a great little 50mm for an incredible price. If the AF noise/speed is a sticking point for you - just use MF and you'll be happy with the sharpness and image quality

Pleasantly surprised by the very sharp quality of this lens at all apertures. Focus is slower than higher end lenses but very usable for what I do and not such a problem as I expected. Sometimes it does hunt in close ups. For the money this was a great value and is now one of my favorite lenses

This lens delivers great photos, far beyond any expectations you might have from the price. Images look clear, and color is great. A good budget lens. It does have a plastic body, but the mounting ring is metal and the connection, to the camera body, is very snug, and solid. If you look around the net, for reviews, you will find some that trash the auto focus functionality. It may be a quick bit slower than a lens costing 4 to 10 times as much, but, on a Sony camera, the described problem can be fixed with a simple firmware upgrade to your camera. A good buy, good price, good pictures.

Here's another steal! Deal of the day was 50 bucks cheaper. It's a prime lense but that fifty nifty never fails. Remember it's not the equipment it's how you use it! Or what ever they say. It is A little louder but cmon have you been outside? No one is gonna run up to you telling you to shut that thing up.

The lens is absolutely amazing. It takes solid pictures and focuses very well. I have an older camera that it doesn't zoom out well with because of the older features of the camera but I just have to adjust the equipment further back and it's everything I ask for in a picture.
