Not a bad lens but I can’t zoom which is unfortunate

I purchased this as my first lens for my Sony A7III since I only bought the body at that time. I like the lens since it was the most affordable with F1.8 aperture. I'm just getting into photography and thought this would be great to practice with. My first nifty fifty. It does take a little longer to focus at times but it is great overall.

I purchase open box because it was priced good, but unfortunately had to return it due to slow focus and noise grinding noise coming from the lens when focusing.

As always I have found the accessories for Sony cameras to be first rate. One of my preferences is the stabilization is contained within the body giving the user more flexibility when choosing lenses. A word of caution, Sony uses (2) mounting styles, make sure you select the correct one.

Could do better in low light but good as a starter lens

Auto focus is noisy and choppy. Ok for a casual photographer.

This lens is good to your wallet and can work on full frame and APC sized cameras. OK in size and weight. But the limitation is focus speed. It compares slow to my 16-70/f4 zeiss lens. I did a firmware update to the lens and my A6000. The speed improved but still felt not fast sometimes.

This is a great addition to your Sony camera. It helps take pictures from distance. The only thing is it's not easy to switch them out or take off and put it on. I guess all attachments are that way. If you are practicing your photography, this is a good starter.

If you can’t afford any better this lens will suffice for simple pictures, but I would not recommend if you can get something else, the external focusing is loud and is easily heard in video, I also find its auto focus kind of bad.

Great for taking night portrait. Gives really good sharpness

I am new to using this type of camera and thought the lens would really bring objects closer and "zoom" in better than the standard lens that's built /comes with the camera but didn't find this to be the case. I returned the lens to them. (Sorry, I wanted it to work better)

Good image quality, but it feels cheap with the plastic

One of the sharpest Sony lenses and an incredible price! Only downsides could be having an all plastic build (although the bayonet is metal), and having a focus motor that can be a bit slower than most Sony lenses. The bokeh is stunning with its 7 blades and the sharpness of a prime is unmatched at this price point.

10/10 sacrificed. Work very good with my nex 6 sony.
