It's a good lens for what it's worth. It's almost always on sale and I promise you that it'll take beautiful photos. Pairs wonderfully with Sony's smaller full frame bodies. I would look at other options if you're on APS-C though, there's a lot of better offerings fore crop sensor!

I used this lens for family pictures and was pleased with the outcome. The pictures were sharp and colorful, even in the rooms with low light. The only thing someone may not like with lens you will need to move back and forth depending how far your subject is. Not a zoom lens so if you do not mind then go for it.

Small and sharp

I bought this product because I would want to have a small and lightweight lens to go around without needing much effort. I didn't expect that this product would be so sharp and compact at the same time. Definitely, it one of "you must have" product. Also, it is perfect for food and product photography. If you are starting, you will love this product. The only con is that you don't have the button to fix the focus and sometimes you have to wait until the camera can decide what focus is better, sometimes you have to change to manual focus, which is another problem because you don't have the switch button to turn it on and off, you have to go to your camera's menu to do it. But for the price and the quality of its photos, I am sure it is a big deal.

Fantastic prime

I think it's great for beginners learning about lighting and composition. The f/1.8 is unbeatable. Highly recommend if you're starting out!

Nice little lens but has some quirks

Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This lens is starting to grow on me, but the motorized focus adjuster goes in and out and in and out every time that I want to take a picture and it doesn't always capture it on the first try. BUT, if you change your setting to Auto, the camera and the lens work very well capture crisp images. I don't usually use auto, but I will with this lens for the time being. I do use it with manuel focus and I have no problems with the motorized focus. The lens hood is great for covering the lens, which pops out when focusing, so that you will not get any dust or moisture, since the lens is not weatherproofed. It's light. Made of durable plastic, but it does have the metal with the electronics when you mount it to your camera. It feels good. Other than that, I am starting to like it. I have the Sony a7s II. Also, with video, the lens focuses a tad bit too slow, but, I'll need to work around that too. So car, I can just use manuel focus. The lens is sharp, though. Nice colors out of it.

Great Value for My A6000

I'm not a professional, but this takes solid portraits and helps with low light shots because of the large aperture. Only downside is it's a fixed focal length, meaning you can't zoom, so you have to physically move around to get the ideal shot. I use this on a Sony A6000.
