    Make no mistake, you can capture some wonderful photos with this lens, but even in minimal low light, it will hunt like crazy and you'll probably have to go to manual focus. This lens is very situational. It's good for portraiture, landscapes and anything that doesn't require you to be fast, but I wouldn't use it for events, sports or wildlife.

    The picture quality is very good, great focal length and aperture, light and small footprint. The only downside is the noisy AF ( autofocus) and plasticy feel. Overall great lens for the price.

    Slow autofocus, noisy, not very sharp. I would look at either a sigma art lens or wait for another 50 from Sony. Good for price though. Just had too many issues for me.

    Great lens for the price. Autofocus is slower than I'd like but nothing too bad. Af noise is definitely noticable so can't say it's the best for video. Otherwise, great bang for your buck.

    This little lens is worth the money. It does what I need. I use DMF on my cameras so the speed of autofocus is not an issue for me.

    Really great prime lens. I love the 50mm as it takes pictures the way I see them. Great all around high quality lens that I had been looking for. The zoom lens are OK, but I really like a prime lens and this one delivers super sharp, clear, great contrast pictures. The lens is light weight and opens up to F1.8 for those creamy backgrounds. Don't be fooled in to spending nearly a grand for a Zeiss lens when this one from Sony is just a good. Yes just as good I took pictures with both and returned the Zeiss as it just wasn't any better than the Sony, Buy one you won't be disappointed. I have been taking pictures for 60 years used all kind of gear large format to Minox. Best buy had a open box special on this lens and it is pretty much all I need.

    The classic must have lens. Can’t beat it for the price. It gives you an excellent look that isolates a subject very nice. Great for portraits.
