Others have suggested this lenses and eventhough I was looking for a wide, I figured I needed a portrait anyhow. In short, you can't beat the price for a f1.8. It's clean enough where you'd have to nitpick, but it does have its down side. It's rather slow to focus and quite loud while doing so. If you're in a jam and need a lens that won't break the bank, I'd say it's a good buy.

They haven't heard my older low end lenses. While it is noisier than my high end lenses, it's not THAT bad. It takes beautiful pictures on a low budget. Is it as good as the same high end lens across all apertures? No. Is it still pretty good? Yes. Am I glad I bought it? Yes.
