One of the best lens values in the Sony lineup. You get great image quality on a fast lens for a great price... obviously they have to make some cuts from the top tier lenses to get this price point but they really hit a sweet spot in how they did it.

For close pictures are great. Is not to heavy to carry.

Lens perfect for shooting digital vidio and stills

This is a good lens, but you must know what you are getting into. The focus WILL be slow and MIGHT fail entirely, at least on my NEX-5R. Still, picture quality is great and the bokeh is beautiful. Definitely buy the APS-C OSS version for APS-C cameras or I guess one of the Zeiss ones for the full-frame ones. For my budget, though, this is fine.

Im using this on the a6000 and a6300. The lens focuses loud and very slow. I guess thats why a lot of people returned them. but, Sony recently released a firmware update which improved the focus speed of the lens. At full retail I would suggest getting the OSS version. but this is very good option at half the OSS price in Open Box.

If you can’t afford any better this lens will suffice for simple pictures, but I would not recommend if you can get something else, the external focusing is loud and is easily heard in video, I also find its auto focus kind of bad.

This is a beautiful lens & works wonderfully with my aesthetic. I would recommend this lens for portraits, business, personal & landscapes. It is lightweight & provides beautiful outcomes.

Love the way you can get portrait and family pictures

I upgraded from my Sony kit lens to this 50 mm prime. This has now turned j to my go-to lens! Focusing is quiet and fast. It also takes excellent photos on my Sony A7ii. For the price, I would highly recommend.

Wonderful lens no issues takes great pictures.....

This lens produces better, clearer pictures than the stock lens. You have to be careful about your focus The depth of field is not as great as the stock lens unless you you stop it down and slow the exposure time. You must know a little about photography to get good results but the pictures a crisp and clear.

This was my first FE lens purchase and it is worth it. The price alone is what caught my eye. The body is mostly plastic but still quite durable. Overall the construction is top notch. Focusing is not as fast as the Zeiss line but if you give the ring a little twist the right way, it helps and focuses in a flash

Needed a fast 50mm lens and this does exactly what I need. It has a low price point but the photo quality is very good. Sharp images are not a problem with this lens on any of Sony's cameras. I use it on my a6000 and get great results. The focus motor does make a bit of noise but for photos that is not an issue.

This is a really great lens choice if you're on a budget. The image is a little soft around the edges, but that's hardly something to complain about with the price you're paying. I use this lens on my Sony a7R II for both portraits and video.

Bottom Line: This is a solid lens $200. AF focusing is loud and not very good. I gave it 4 stars because it's an exceptional value. If you manual focus - this is a respectable A7-series lens. (Full disclosure: I returned this lens and got the Zeiss 55mm....again, you get what you pay for. It's incredible)

I've just started on taking portrait photos in social events or functions with my family or friends. This is great at achieving that Bokeh effect! all my pictures are crisp, vibrant and subjects really stand out!

Gives me the great bokeh effect on my shots. Great for portraits!

Bought for my daughter for Christmas, I'm sure she will love it.
