Superb quality and performance
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have only used this lens on a couple of opportunities and have not had much, if anything, to complain about. I have used this on my A7rII and A6300 and have really like the performance on both setups. The focus is relatively fast and accurate, and I especially like the focus hold button which I have reassigned to the eye autofocus option. This focusing option is why I tend to use my Sony rig more and more versus my older Canon 6D/Tamron 24-70 f2.8 setup. The lens is sharp and seems to be relatively good throughout the aperture range. While being stopped down to around f/4 through f/8 seem to be the sharpest, the ability to open the aperture to f2.8 is nice and produces pleasing background bokeh. This is a great all-around lens that I use the most out of all my other E-mount options. The lens is big and heavy and sports an 82mm front thread to accommodate various filters. The balance is not too bad on the A7RII with a battery grip, but when mounted on the A6300 it tends to be a little off balance. This is not a show stopper, but does require a little adjustment to hand held photography. The main complaint that I have is the price point. This lens is one of the most expensive in the FE range of lens for the E-mount system. However, with the lens wearing a GM badge, I guess the price is justified. It definitely performs better than the previous 24-70 f/4 FE lens, as that lens tended to be a little soft, especially wide open. The GM lenses can definitely stand on their own when compared to other “professional” quality glass from Nikon and Canon.

Cons: Very expensive, large, heavy Bottom line: If you must have the best, you won’t be disappointed with this lines but competing brands for this system cost far less money for similar performance.
