A bit disappointed but that’s the risk you take on buying open box but I’m just gonna buy the new version of this lens. Love Sony lens!

Terrible lens

I sold my Tamron 28-75 G2 to purchase this lens and ended up taking it back. Terrible lens flare and vignette when shooting in the sun. I never had that problem with Tamron. I shoot tons of sunsets and have never had a problem until using that GM. It should be a crime to sell a lens for 1500 that doesn’t even perform properly.

We do appreciate your honest feedback as it will help us to keep improving future products. The diameter on the Sony 24-70GM is larger than the Tamron 28-75mm. By having a larger diameter it results in a brighter image and better resolution, which can be especially useful for observing faint objects or capturing detailed images. But with larger diameter, when pointed shooting in the sun, it can catch more light which results in higher possibilities of lens flare. Great lens for my sony a7sII

First I got Blackmagic pocket (HD) and then Blackmagic production camera 4k. Both of them are great, but very weak in low light. I worked with Sony a7s on a shoot with my nikon lenses and liked low light performance. When a7sII (4K) came out - i got it. But the problem was with my nikon lenses. A lot of them for croped sensor size. I was looking for something in range 24-70 with f2.8. Solution with an adapter I didn't like. Almost none of them works with autofocus in video mode. I considered Sony 28-135mm f4, but it is too dark. So sony 24-70 is pretty expensive, but it works fine with autofocus in video mode. It is really heavy. And it completely silent which is great for video.
