Not that impressed

Rear speakers don’t work with normal tv. I flip between new Sony tv and sound bar. Not much difference. Too expensive for results.

Don't run hdmi from device to tv

When trying to switch between inputs. It does not see devices that are already powered on. If I'm watching the dvr and switch to chromecast, then go back to the dvr, I have to turn off the dvr and turn it back on for the soundbar to be able to see it. A real PITA. I considered not running the hdmi for the dvr through the soundbar, since it does not see the dvr. Hoping that won't cause a lip syncing issue when I have to run an optical cable from the tv to the sound bar

Do you have the right type of HDMI cable needed to transfer audio/video signals between your TV and other devices? There are four types of HDMI cables but we recommend using the HDMI 2.1a or HDMI 2.0 to 2.0b. You may find this article helpful on how to resolve your issue.

Connection Issue

But this bar keep muting after 15 minutes its kind a disconnected. Then you have to again connect with tv remote. So annoying

Resetting the soundbar may also help resolve the issue:
1. Press HOME. The home menu appears on the TV screen.
2. Select [Setup] - [Advanced Settings] on the home menu.
3. Select [Resetting].
4. Select the menu item you want to reset.
5. Select [Start].
If you cannot perform resetting using the home menu
-Press and hold (power) and – (volume) on the bar speaker for more than 5 seconds. The settings return to their initial status.
Note: By resetting, the link with the optional subwoofer and rear speakers may be lost. In this case, reconnect them by referring to their operating instructions.

I contacted best buy the day before to repurchase canceled item that was in stock. Fast forward to today 10/30, I have been double charged for the sound bar, being charged interest on item that was canceled. AND we opened a best buy card up with a promo of over $300 worth of credit to best buy and now this is also disappeared. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. I have contacted best buy on SEVERAL occasions along the Citi credit card company.

Not as good as expected.

A full sound experience
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The Sony HT-A5000 Soundbar is quite the machine. I will give a disclosure; I have only used this soundbar with the optional Sony rear speakers and subwoofer. I imagine this soundbar on its own would still sound great. However, with the add on equipment it sounds mind bogglingly incredible. When you consider how simple this system is to setup, how minimalist it is and how well it blends into your room, this is hard to compete with. I am coming from a $700 soundbar with rear speakers and subwoofer as well so it’s a reasonable question to ask: “what does the extra $1200 or so get me?”. Well, to my surprise its basically incomparable. This system is on a whole other level. The sound stage it produces it just unbelievable, you won’t believe it comes from such a small form. The Dolby Atmos feature can be hit or miss depending on your room. My living room is a rectangle with a nice flat ceiling, about 10ft tall. The Atmos feature for me has been a game changer. It seems to depend heavily on the title you are watching too. The good news is most new action/thriller/exciting movie supports it. Also, most streaming services are supporting it as well. It’s kind of like the early days of HD or even 4K. The adopting has been slow, but if you are jumping in now, there’s plenty of titles for you to enjoy. The other good news is that Dolby Atmos is not necessary to enjoy the quality of this system. Even if you are watching a good old fashion movie, its phenomenal. If you are thinking about getting this soundbar, strongly consider adding the rear speakers and the subwoofer. If you already have the soundbar and are reading this review trying to decide whether you should add the rear speakers or sub, then just do it. The system as a whole will transform your experience.

Didn’t even last a year!
