I bought this controller and it has good responsiveness as well as battery life. I was buying it to replace my 4 year old controller which had a button that was sticking and made it hard to play. The one I bought right out of the box was having the same problem. I returned it to Best Buy for a new one no problem. My new controller is great and works as intended!

The haptic feedback is what separates the PS5 controller from the rest. I own a Series X as well as the PS5 and the PS5 controller is just better. I will say however that the PS5 controller is more expensive and also seems to suffer from stick drift faster. Microsoft also has a built-in app to fix that issue for their console and controller.

It’s a recurring issue, and in my experience the average time before drift starts is around 8 months (based on 2 other identical controllers), which is unacceptable for a controller that costs $60–$70. For this price point, Sony really needs to address the durability of the analog sticks instead of treating drift like an inevitable problem. Battery life could also be better. The controller drains faster than expected, especially with haptics and adaptive triggers enabled, and it feels like it hasn’t improved much since launch. Overall, it’s a great controller held back by long‑term reliability. We deserve better build quality for the price.
