DualShock 4 was great, but this is totally different. The trigger feedback is amazing, and the haptics are much more refined and just.. totally different than the "stereo rumble" of the DS4. This is an entirely different level of controller than what you'd get even with the Series X. And they're not that expensive to have a couple in rotation. I would recommend picking up an extra at the same time as the PS5, though, as I will say the battery life is noticeably shorter than the DualShock 4. There are some rumors of the triggers going off-track if someone is too rough on them. That doesn't mean you have to baby this thing, but some people are absolutely brutal on controllers, and Sony should have considered that. If you're normal and not hamfisted about it you'll be fine, but if you're the type of person who throws controllers in frustration (cmon, don't do that.) then you may notice this is a little more fragile than its predecessor.
