The noise canceling function of these headphones are effective in low frequency ranges such as airplanes, trains, offices, near air-conditioning, and is not as effective for higher frequencies, such as human voices. When the Adaptive Sound Control on the “Sony | Headphones Connect” app is turned on, the wearer's actions, like walking or running, are detected. This unit comes with different sizes of earbuds to ensure there is a great fit for all ear sizes and an optimal noise canceling experience. As a suggestion, to reduce discomfort while wearing the headphones and keep it from falling out, try to use the right size according to the size of your ears. The size of the left and right earbud tips may be different. When wearing them, please gently pull on the top of your ear as you twist the earbud into your ear. This should give you a firmer hold.

Sony LinkBuds S battery life?

Apparently the newer update made it worse. Bought them for 128.00 two weeks and and brought them back. This is not BestBuys fault. Unfortunately BestBuy will be having to deal with more returns.

Happiest I've been in several pairs

Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.After my XM4 were down to about 15 minutes of battery after a year (thanks Sony) ended up trying the LinkBuds S after not feeling compelled by some of the changes and price hike on the XM5. Have been using Sony earbuds for years because of the combination of sound quality and top notch ANC but it's always been a love/hate relationship. Wound up trying these because while the XM5 weren't feeling like an obvious purchase neither were the alternatives from other brands, for various reasons. It was purely a purchase of "I don't want to spend that much so I guess I'll try these and probably return them for the expensive ones." Instead these feel like the refinement of where the XM line has stumbled with minimal trade offs. They're super light and fit so effortlessly. They fit flush enough in the ear that I can easily put on/take off my ear muff style ear protection without disturbing them, and they stay in while working. The XM buds I would always knock loose or feel the ear cups pressing against. The sound quality is right up there with the best earbuds, I'm sure if you compared them side by side the XM line would probably be better but after years of listening to those I can't point to anything noticeably worse. Transparency mode on these is super natural to the point where I forget I turned it on and never turned it back off, doesn't sound unnaturally amplified. Biggest thing to me is that these are back to the silicone ear tips. I have really large ears/ear holes and Sony doesn't include or sell XL tips of the foam hybrid tips they've gone to for the XM. With the L on the XM4 I could never get a consistent or thorough seal, they still sounded good and had solid ANC but soon as they shifted a tiny bit it was evident. When those wore out I went to XL aftermarket silicone tips and they fit better but it was definitely a step back in quality because they were designed for the foam. The LinkBuds with the XL fit like a dream and the ANC blows away anything I experienced with the XM4 because of it. I'll be standing next to my basement dehumidifier with nothing playing and I can't hear it at all. My kid keeps scaring the daylights out of me because between the ANC and music playing the world barely exists. The only real complaint I have about these is that there's no wireless charging in the case. At the price point that's a pretty standard thing, hopefully in the next revision. Also I bought the Desert Sand color initially and was disappointed by the color and didn't really feel like it matched the photos online. So back to the store they went!... and the black ones came back with me.

Lightest hi-fi earbuds on the market

The sound quality is quite good (nearly as good as the WF-1000XM4). The ANC and transparency mode are pretty decent, and I've found both these features really useful, especially when I'm outdoors. Sony's app has been useful too (there, you can customize the touch buttons and pick different EQ presets). The battery life is a bit longer than the one advertised if you don't use the ANC or transparency mode feature; overall, you'll have six hours plus the 14 hours you get from the case. The case is smaller than the ones I owned before, which makes it easier for me to carry them in my pocket and the earbuds fit perfectly in my ears (I'm not sure I'd recommend these for physical activities, though). I'd definitely recommend these to anyone looking for nice, comfy, stylish earbuds.

They block outside sounds at 90% without the white noise on. (90% being if someone walked up behind you and started talking, you'd prob realize but have ZERO idea what they said) With the white noise, 100% blocking all outside sounds! I'd bought these for a trip cross country and they were PERFECT for the plane rides. Battery life is awesome!!! I also use them when working out....Fantastic!! They stay in my ears and do not disconnect when my phone is in my pocket. They have not caused me any discomfort when I use them for extended periods of time, either. The only reason I took 1 star off of connectivity is because it won't play on just my left headphone if my right headphone is not out of the charging box. I only use one headphone while I'm at work so when my right side dies, I cannot use my left while the right charges. I've tried to fix this by assigning the playback 'job' to the left side as well but it didn't work.

Worked Great for a Year

The most important thing about these earbuds is that after about 14 months, the battery in the left bud is shot. Battery life for the left bud is about 20 minutes if I'm being generous. The right bud has not seen a reduction in battery life. The ANC works as well or better than the Bose Quiet Comfort II's that I own. The sound quality is also really good. I never had a problem with fit. The touch controls can be a little finicky and sometimes answering a call through the touch controls did not work. Phone calls are really clear and the mic on these buds eliminates background noise much better than the Bose QCII. Other features available in the app felt superfluous and gimmicky probably because I didn't need them. In all, I like the buds but i paid too much for them to only last 14 months. Sony customer support suggested sending them for repair on my dime but could not guarantee that the other bud would not have similar issues at some point. Buy them if you want to pay 200 bucks for disposable earbuds.

Best headphones for a good price point

I had been in a severe need of a good quality pair of earbuds, and after doing a great deal of research, I came across the Sony-LinkBuds S True Wireless Noise Canceling Earbuds. The headphones needed to do the following to meet my standards: - Properly fit my small ears - Not slip out of my ears after a few minutes to an hour of wearing the buds - Remain comfortable while wearing them for more than three hours After over a year of use, I can honestly say that this is the best pair of earbuds made by Sony that you can buy for a great price point. The buds come with a variety of spare tips that you change out for your comfort levels. The noise cancelling is excellent, little to no sound slips through. Using the equalizer in the app that the buds are programmed for allows me to increase the bass (personal preference). Tapping on the sides of the earbuds allows me to switch from noise cancelling to "staying" mode (the mode that allows you to hear your surroundings. The headphones are frequently updated with new software from the app, ensuring all is working properly. The battery life also lasts me 8-9 hours or more of consistent use. Overall, I highly recommend this product.

Great fit with solid sound

I'm no audiophile, but the sound is clean. Bass is just enough, though not as punchy as some of the competitors. Noise canceling and ambient noise pickup work well on these. I love the Google integration and the software that it comes with. Works great with my Pixel phone. The best part for me is the fit. My ears are on the medium to smaller size and I can wear these for hours without any pain. Speaking of which, battery life does struggle a bit if you have the noise canceling features turned on. I get around 2-3 hours with all features turned on. But, for the price, they are solid.

Your feedback regarding the multipoint function is extremely important to us and is very much appreciated. We have updated firmware of these headphones and it includes key features such as connecting the headset to 2 devices simultaneously, improves the Bluetooth connection stability and general performance.
When Bluetooth connections are established between 2 devices and the headset, another paired device can be connected via Bluetooth connection. If you try to make a Bluetooth connection with the headset by operating the third device, the Bluetooth connection with the last device that played music will be maintained, and the Bluetooth connection with the other device will be disconnected. Then a Bluetooth connection between the third device and the headset is established.
We hope you will consider Sony again in a future purchase. Thank you for the feedback.

Ambient features vs noise canceling is nice, easily set different levels of ANC. App lets you control and even disable touch controls. One ear listening works, microphone works with one ear but better with two. You can make calls in any environment without difficulty. Included app makes it easy toggle from noise canceling to ambient. seal is okay but even imperfect it is comfortable for long periods of listening. Case works well with magnets to set buds into place CONS: <! WARNING !> 1 year warranty <! WARNING !> after 15-months battery in right bud discharges quickly ( varies between 20 min and 90 min ) as compared to the left. Whereas it used to warn low battery a few times it now just fails and shuts off. Firmware update never cleanly applied from iphone 16 with sound connection app. Does not seem to affect usage. Sometimes its slow to toggle when making a call from the phone to the bluetooth. Somewhat less of a problem on my iPhone 16 - may be an apple “feature”

My Favorite Earbuds

Both with sound and comfort. Especially size. The size of these earbuds are rivaled only by Raycon E25s and the Linkbuds sound significantly better. I removed star because i have had issues with one of the earbuds producing a wind-like noise when ANC or Ambient mode is active. This is apparently a common issue. Otherwise, I still love these.

The perfect small earbuds!

I use them everyday at work and battery life has started to decrease too much after 15 months of use so it was time for another pair. I looked at other earbuds including the newest Wf-1000XM5 but they are larger and would stick out more and I want them to be as inconspicuous as possible. I also bought them in Desert Sand because it looks more like hearing aids and this way there's less chance of being told I can't use them at my job,plus in aware mode they do amplify the sound when I need too, so it does kind of help me hear better,I'm not getting any younger! But the main reason I bought them last year and again is for the size and very good ANC & sound quality. They never feel like they're going to fall out,an issue I had with other earbuds always having to readjust them. With the Black Friday sale for$128 plus I used a gift card and $5 reward certificate I knocked the price down to $54 not bad!! The sound quality in my opinion is great I like it set to mellow on EQ setting which I like. If I had one critique it would be I'd like battery to last more than 6 hours on ANC but they'd have to make them bigger plus a 5 minute charge gets you another hour. If you're looking for a the smallest lightest earbuds with ANC I don't think you'll find any better for the price!

Great bang for the buck.

Has decent ANC, light weight, battery life is good, and does not fall out too easily. They dont stick out alot on my ear. My only gripe is that the app is not the greatest. Sometimes it doesnt even connect the earbuds to my phone. Overall these earbuds are decent for the price.

We're sorry to learn your Linkbuds S won't connect to the Headphones Connect app. If you haven't yet, follow the instructions on the link and then connect the earbud headphones to the app again. Check if the issue is resolved after you complete each step. If still unresolved, the Headphones Connect app can also be removed and reinstalled as an additional step.
