Early battery life degradation

Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.*When it works* this is a very good product -- good sound, good ANC, relatively easy to use. What is disqualifying is how fast the battery life deteriorated in the right earbud (after a little more than a year of not heavy use) -- down to an erratic 15-30 minutes before exhaustion. Of course, >12 mos. is beyond warranty coverage, and all that Sony will do is throw a litany of reset steps at you before referring you to their hand-selected repair service. What's frustrating is that this seems to be a long-existing problem for which Sony has no effective fix. I'd buy another pair if I could be confident that the battery life issue wouldn't repeat itself, but I have no such trust. Also don't believe that repair could possibly be cost-effective over replacement. Bottom line, it's a good product *if* you can keep it working for more than a few mins at a stretch. Currently shopping for other brands to replace.

Noise canceling isnt that great

Bought purposefully for noise canceling to speak with my husband who is on deployment and still have a very hard time hearing him. Kind of disappointed but they work to speak on so at least i can be hands free.

The noise canceling function of these headphones are effective in low frequency ranges such as airplanes, trains, offices, near air-conditioning, and is not as effective for higher frequencies, such as human voices. When the Adaptive Sound Control on the “Sony | Headphones Connect” app is turned on, the wearer's actions, like walking or running, are detected. The noise canceling function is automatically adjusted and the Ambient Sound Mode may be activated according to these actions. To make the most of the noise canceling function, turn off the Adaptive Sound Control, and try to turn on the noise canceling function manually when you need it. Either side of the headphones can work as the main unit, and the main unit consumes more power than the other side. Because of this, the remaining battery level may vary between left and right. This is not a malfunction.

While we are glad you like the sound quality and adjustable EQ settings of your Sony Linkbuds S, we're sorry to hear your discomforts while wearing the unit. We suggest to change the earbud tips to ones that fit more snugly in your ears. Gently pull on the top of your ear as you twist the headset unit to slide the earbud tip deep into your ear canal.
