Bought a playstation 3D display form ebay,wanted a remote that would control the monitor. this was perfect.

No other company makes a multifunction remote that also has integrated Bluetooth to control a PS3 and RF for other home theater items like a TV and Amplifier at this price point. Other universal remotes are more expensive and need add ons that increase the cost to control the PS3. The good thing is this remote is mostly universal and will definitely control the PS3 and a TV (most any brand). The TV part of the remote is universal and there are tons of codes available to work with whatever TV you may have. The bad news is if you are also looking to control a home theater receiver it better be a Sony because the remote comes pre-programmed for Sony and there is no way to program it for non Sony Amplifiers. So it will get rid of 2 remotes (PS3/TV) but if you have a non Sony amplifier you will still need that remote.

For anyone that uses their PS3 as a media center / Blu-ray player this remote is a most. Not only will you not have to go through the pain of entering complex key combinations with your PS3 controller but you will find that after programming your TV and other compatible equipment to work with it, this remote will be the only one you'll need. Setting it up with other devices is really easy and one big plus is that since it works with Bluetooth you wont need to point it to your PS3 in order to work like most standard remote (other equipment will require to be within RF sight). What else can be said, if I had gripe about it, it would be due to the fact that it doesn't have a built in keypad for easy typing and that the weight is not distributed equally through the length of the remote, the top is actually heavier even though the most usable bottoms are down at the bottom. But that is nothing compare to all the great use you can get out it.

I think this is a good remote to have in general if you watch movies on your PS3 but for me my TV remote stopped working so this product helped a lot. ******************************Pros************************************** -The Functionality: Works great with both my TV and PS3. Color matches with my TV frame and PS3. ******************************Cons************************************** -None: Back in the days, I thought the price was a slightly bit higher than in it should be but now it is pretty cheap. ******************************Conclusion************************************** A must buy if you frequently watch movies on your PS3. I find this to be so much easier to use than just the game console controllers. And it is not subject to the kids rememberbing to plug it in when it goes dead! Can't believe I didn't get one sooner. Great price point too!

Since I own a Bravia television, a PS3 and a Bravia sound system this remote is an awesome accessory to have. A must have! I finally have a great alternative for the three remotes I was totig around before. My two greatest beefs with this remote is: 1, there is no way, to my knowledge, to change stations for the radio on the sound system. You can't even search through them or select saved stations. 2, the buttons that are exclusive to one system, say the PS3, don't work unless you press that device's button. The previous PS3 remote could do this. For instance, if I was changing the volume on the tv or sound system, I could press the PS3 button in the center and it would go to the XMB menu. I could then press the volume button and it would instinctively switch back to the tv and raise its volume. With this romote I have to press the PS3 device button before I press the PS3 button in the middle to get to the XMB menu or to even turn the PS3 on.

I was looking for universal remotes that would also control my PS3. I became frustrated because the only remotes that would work were super expensive and required me to hook a dongle up to the PS3. Then I found out that this new remote for the PS3 ($20) WAS a universal remote. It only controls your PS3, TV, and AMP and even those is doesn't control perfectly, but it allows me to have basic control of them which is all I need the majority of the time. For example, the remote doesn't give me the ability to switch from 2D to 3D with my particular tv so I have to pull my tv remote out for that, but since I don't use that option very much it isn't that big of a deal. All in all, if you are willing to pay A LOT for a remote and don't mind using a infared dongle for your PS3 instead of using its bluetooth capabilities then get a universal remote. Otherwise this one is good enouph to use for everyday needs and is really cost effective.

Great remote. MUCH better than the old PS# Remote from years ago that they first came out with. It is lighter as well. Has both IR, and BT. Works great as advertised. If you only have SONY products, and you only have a few devices, this will be the only remote you need. However, if you have a receiver of a different brand... sorry about your luck but it won't work with it. Other than that, controls the PS3 perfect, and is a decent TV remote as well.

I'm sure we all suffer from way too many remotes for each and every device in the living room and you may hesitate to have one more but this is a really great addition. It can hook up with your TV, receiver and your PS3 which could possibly even remove some of the remote clutter in your home. I've been very happy with the remote. It's easy to use, functions well across devices and has a good feel to it. I watch a lot of Netflix and Blu-Rays on my PS3 so having a dedicated remote is much nicer than keeping a game controller on.

This is one of our favorite best buy purchases. So easy to use and it is more convienent to use than the ps3 game console remote controller.

So my Logitech Harmony was recently destroyed and replacing it wasn't in the budget. Happened across the new Sony PS3 remote and it was on sale for $15. Couldn't pass that up. Went home, set it up, and I'm down from five remotes to two. It works perfectly with my receiver, TV, and the PS3. Requires no additional hardware (like the typical IR to BT device for the PS3). It's still not a Harmony with all the functionality that comes at that higher price point, and I wish it would also work with a cable box, but even at retail price this is a great solution for PS3 owners.

Purchased it on sale and use it every day. Easy to set up with my PS3 and it works great with sony tc and surround sound

This replaced my old BD PS3 remote and this time Sony got it right. My whole system: PS3, Bravia TV, Sound Bar Stereo, is all Sony. The remote worked right out of the box for everything, Bravia-sync even works well with it. Since I have nothing but Sony in this system, I can't speak on the programability of the remote.

product description says you can control 3 devises. tv, audio and ps3. It was not worded that those products must be sony.. ok so then if you read more it says compatible with most tvs (not most sony tvs) sony amps. It should have said compatible with most sony TV's, and amps.. so then after reading the packaging inside after opening it. it says only compatible with sony tvs, and gives the model # to the One and only amp that its compatible with.. Im like for real? I figured I would be getting a universal remote as well be able to control my ps3 better for blu ray movies.. also the remote has to pair with the ps3 every time its turned off and on again. it does not pair like the included controllers.

I bought the PS3 Blu-Ray remote after I bought the Playstation 3D display because the 3D display didn't come with a remote, and only came with ONE set of 3D glasses. I'm docking both this product and the Playstation 3D display a full star. I remember dial TVs that didn't have remote controls, but a remote control has been a standard feature with any non-dial TV I've ever bought. The remote control pairs easily enough with the Playstation 3. It SHOULD work right out of the box, but doesn't. You have to go to the System Settings > Accessories > Blutooth Remote settings, then hold Start + Enter on the remote control. It's good after that. Not that hard, but still, I'd expect something designed specifically for the PS3 to work right out of the box. I'm not taking points away, just commenting. The remote control functions mostly work correctly. Sometimes, when you press the directional arrows only once, it will jump two spaces, and it seems to hesitate sometimes. I especially notice this on Netflix and the Blu-ray menus, but it will do it some on the Playstation XMB (the main desktop/menu page of the PS3 system), although definitely less frequently. I think $25 is a bit high for the remote control, especially considering that it requires AAA batteries. Come on Sony, you market it as a Playstation 3 remote control, but you can give us a lithium ion battery like the PS3 controllers? Really? They should have included a usb mini input to charge the remote control like the user charges his PS3 controller. I would only recommend this product if you have the Playstation 3D display. It's nice that it will also run the Playstation 3 and blu-ray discs, but totally unnecessary and not worth it if you only have the PS3 since the PS3 controller does those things equally as well [if not better].

Kudos to Sony for revising the PS3 remote! Now that they've included volume and other various controls for TV's and Sony A/V equipment (which I have), I don't have to have a remote in each hand to control BD playback, volume, etc. This new remote can do it all! It's also slimmer and lighter than v.1, but still has a sturdy construction to it. I take away one point, because as was pointed out already, it will only control Sony A/V equipment. Why they would go to the trouble of making it programmable for any TV, but only Sony receivers is beyond me... But anyway, it's still a great buy, even if you already have the v.1 remote. By the way, this remote DOES power the PS3 on and off. See the PS logo button just under the D-Pad? Just as with a DualShock3 controller, press the PS button to power up, press and hold it for a second to power down. :)

This remote is a great accesory when you use your PS3 for watching movies even if it is not that offen. It was terrible to access to the bluray menus with the regular PS3 controller and this remote makes it so easy. I only would like the remote to have a backlight on all buttons or at least flourescent marks to find the right buttons when using it at night.

Bought this remote to control disc playback and streaming media. It's easier to use than the PS3 controller for me, at least, since I am not a serious gamer. Purchased with a Best Buy coupon and it was also on sale in the store, so I did not pay full price. The remote has a lightweight feel and doesn't seem to sit comfortably in my hand, and I have long fingers. The volume buttons' position at the bottom makes them awkward to control with my thumb. The remote doesn't have full backlighting; only a few device buttons at the top are backlit. Remote has some capability to control non-Sony TV's. It will control some functions of my Samsung 5000 series HDTV. Frustratingly, the remote can activate the TV menu, but I don't think it can allow the user to enter the menu and change any settings. Also it is not a learning remote, so it can't be programmed. A very important point to note is that the remote does not appear to duplicate the functions of the PS3 controller joysticks, so any functions such as zooming and scrolling of photos with the joysticks can't be accomplished with the remote. Worthwhile to own but I would not pay full price.

great remote for the PS3. I, like many other reviewers, was tired of using the controller to scroll through. This replaces all the buttons, and works with the TV.

I held this purchase off for a long time not thinking I would not use it much. Now I find myself using it all the time. Netflix, Amazon, Music Unlimited, etc. Any of the non-gaming functions are much easier on the remote than the game controller. You could probably even play games with it (though I haven't tried). Works great!! Glad I finally purchased this product.
