So a while back I convinced my parents to buy a PS3 strictly for playing Blu-ray/Dvd, Netflix, and Vudu. I bought them this remote. I also primarily use my PS3 for the same reasons. In a big living room, the charger cable doesn't reach very far and the controllers don't charge while the system is off, so I bought myself one of these remotes after using it a few times at my parents house. I am pretty tech savy and the only complaints I have is that there are alot of buttons and it is very easy to hit the wrong one and mess up your place in the movie. With that being said, I'm sure I'll get used to it. I'm a big fan of using rechargeable batteries instead of having to plug a controller in, so this was an easy decision over the standard controller. Plus it controls the TV as well and has good battery life. Bottom line: If you plan on using your PS3 for Blu-ray/Dvd, Netflix, Vudu, ect. then this is a must have.

The controller works great as expected... don't have to fumble around with the game contoller to watch movies... main reason why I bought it... did NOT buy to try to consolidate... seen other reviews here and other sites where people not too happy can't turn PS3 on or off, to them I say, read the instructions and sync the remote with your PS3.

I am loving the ease of use for functions between the PS3 & the PS3 3D Display. It only takes about 30 seconds to sync with the PS3 & it works flawlessly. I actually prefer the Blu-Ray/Media Remote over the PS3 Blu-Ray Remote, thanks to the added functionality.

i just picked one of these up about an hour ago, got it set up with my tv, was annoyed of having 2 remotes, sucks i cant access the menus or i can but cant navigate the menus. there should be some possible way, but unsure, hope someone figures out it. other than that great remote, slimmer, lighter than the old one and no need for another remote unless u want to change the settings.

I bought this remote for operating the PS3 and after owning it for a month now, I think this is must have. Operating PS3 with dual shock is not effective at all. For the price, this remote is excellent value. I wish that this remote also can be configured to operate my Panasonic TV

This is perfect for watching DVDs, Blurays, and downloaded videos on your PS3. No setup required, it just worked. I already had a Sony receiver for my TV and PS3, so I think that's what made everything so easy. Dunno if it works as well with any other brand stereo receivers.

Goods: -Better placement of play, pause, stop buttons so no accidental haulting of the entire movie (this should have been fixed a long time ago) -High quality feel of plastics and buttons (no different from first version) -Addition of controlling your television (most major brands) from same remote or Sony brand amplifier/receiver only Bads: -If you have invested in a home theatre amplifier/receiver that is NOT Sony brand for surround sound to go with your PS3 game playing and Bluray movie watching you are penalized and cannot control VOLUME and MUTE functions that are much needed Such a Sony move. Force everyone onto their bluray media platform then penalize the customer for not owning Sony brand everything in your home. All in all if you do not already have the first version Sony remote this one is a great buy. Nothing comes close to Sonys build quality for PS3 remotes. Just don't make the mistake I did and purchase it thinking you can control a Denon amp/receiver volume and mute functions. I will be returning this since I already own the first version and do not support their decision to limit it only to Sony amps.

This remote has worked perfectly. The remote is very easy to read and to use. I used to have a different version of the remote and it drove me crazy that the pause and stop buttons were so close to each other on the remote. With this version, there is no issue.

Bought this while it was on sale, two weeks ago. I haven't put it down since. Extremely convenient. Never thought I needed a remote since I had a controller, but I guess I did. Great with the video services and looking through the xmb.

Awesome, I can control my PS3, Sony C150 Soundbar and my Sharp TV with the remote. It also works with the Netflix app on my PS3. Never expected all this functionality in a remote this cheap!

Being able to control my tv and ps3 on one remote is the reason to purchase this remote. The only thing missing from this remote is that it doesn't light up all of the keys. Setting it up is easy for ps3 and tv. Definately a buy for anyone with a ps3.

Use this remote when my wife and I use the PS3 as a Blu-Ray/DVD player. Much more convenient and less confusing than using a PS3 controller. It has capability to turn off my TV and PS3 with the push of a single button as well. My only complaint is that I wish the buttons would light up so I could see them in the dark. So, in conclusion, five stars for a PS3 remote that meets my very basic needs.

It does a great job getting my content to view on ps3 and or compatible tv. It's overall a great remote with multifunctional recommended for Sony ps3 owners.

I upgraded from the original BR remote for PS3. This one includes volume for controlling Sony receivers and the 24" Sony PS3 3D display. Which is great because that otherwise excellent display has no remote, and the volume controls are on the back of the monitor. Very happy with this remote. Out of the package, it controlled my Sony receiver and the 3D display, as well as the usual BR features of the PS3. A new button was added for 15 second skip forward/back. Very handy button! I'll probably use those 2 buttons the most on the entire remote! (and the volume). No dedicated power button for the PS3, but there are 2 for the Amp and TV power. Probably works with any Sony tv also, but I don't have one so I couldn't test it. Great price here on Best Buy.

The PS3 remote is nice in that it allows me to not have to constantly turn on a PS3 controller just to turn on and run Netflix. Two things that are a little irritating, but would not stop me from purchasing over again. First is that it will not allow me to sync to my Audio Receiver, so I have to have a separate remote for my sound. Although if I ran it through the TV the sound would obviously work just fine. Second is that unlike the Xbox 360 remote that I have, you can't just easily hit a TV power button and Video Console power button to very quickly turn on/off both devices. Again, just something I'll have to get used too. In the end, it still is nice to have, instead of relying on a controller all of the time.

It's a good addition to your PS3. It can manage your TV and PS3. The only thing is sometimes you have to press TV to get the volume to go up and down after using a PS3 function.

This remote works great. I never used the previous version, so I can't compare. But this one easily sync'ed with my TV and PS3. It is much simpler than using the PS3 remote for Blurays or video apps like Hulu. It is comfortable to hold and has an intuitive design. If it would have some lighting for the buttons to use easier in the dark, that would make it even better.

Bought this item on sale at $15. For a universal remote it's a good price let alone one that controls the PS3.

works great with ps3 for movies and apps. took it back because it would not control my surround sound receiver. bummer because it is not that expensive in my mind

love this remote got it on sale for $14.99 luckily. it makes it easier to watch my currently small but growing collection of movies on Blu-Ray. I do think though that considering that how much it cost for a PS3 this remote should come with it. with that being said I do love this remote and will be using it as such for some time to come
