The PS5 met most of my expectations. Super fast load times, better graphical fidelity thanks to ray tracing in some games, and backwards compatibility with my huge backlog of PS4 games. The controller is more akin to the Xbox controller and feels better in my hands. The controller is weighty and the better ergonomics make the controller feel really premium. The size of the console and the general buggy-ness of the operating system are my biggest complaints. The console is huge and doesn't really match my entertainment center. Having the official Sony accessories help the looks since they all match. Having owned the console for 6 months, I've had consistent problems using an external SSD to store my PS4 games. The system consistently crashed up until recently with a new system update. I'm still waiting for the internal expansion slot to be enabled so I can stop using my external SSD and free up a USB port. Overall, the console runs phenomenally despite the bugs and the lack of games that fully utilize the system. Early adopter problems.

It’s been 2 years and 10 months since I bought this product. I was very lucky to of gotten mine when they were being all bought up in the very first month. The PS5 operates so smoothly and is a massive upgrade from the PS4 Pro. I had an issue with my controller in the first month that I owned it but Geek Squad protection did their thing and I have been gaming happily ever since. Thanks for reading.

All I'm going to say is I am impressed with the PlayStation 5. I can't even explain how awesome the PS5 is. The haptic feedback and the adaptive triggers is a game changer plus the built in microphone on the dual sense controller is amazing. I am so happy I managed to snatch a PS5 from Best Buy in my area I didn't have no issues with them. And it was all thanks to octoshop. The PS5 is honestly the best gaming console ever created. The visuals is jaw dropping and performance is out of this world the frame rate is super silky smooth no stuttering whatsoever. I truly recommend buying the PS5 over Xbox series X its not even close on par with PS5. I'm not being biased because I already have an Xbox One X I am stating the fact Xbox can't win anymore the PS5 and the dual sense controller is simply too advanced. Plus it has motion controls. I am having the best time of my life console gaming has officially reached the PC spectrum. The PS5 is whisper quiet no matter what game I'm playing. That's all I'm going to say.

Fantastic console! It loads fast and the graphics are great. It’s quiet and very smooth. Love the audio quality it outputs too. It is pretty big, so make sure you have space for it. All my ps4 games look at lot better, but the PS5 graphics are phenomenal.

If you're looking for something to live for, buy a PS5. The excitement of purchasing one is more than enough to keep you going for the foreseeable future. Feeling sad? Bored? Looking for something to do for 10-12 hours? Want the satisfaction of being productive without getting a job? The PS5 is your solution. Endless hours of fun are just ~$500 away (games, PS+, headset, and various other costs not included). My beloved PS5 made it a solid 3 years with absolutely no issues before she was unfortunately stolen from me. Every night I dream of the day we're together again. It's truly worth every penny.

I rate this product highly but after having it a few weeks, I've noticed a few things that I hadn't expected after all that obnoxious promo and scramble for everyone to get a unit. The good - it is very fast and games played on it are gorgeous. Even running games from my external hard drive I was using for my PS4, I noticed a significant increase in performance and graphics quality. Astros Playroom is a brilliant display of the controller's abilities while also being a fun, challenging and complex game. For a free launch game, it is for sure worth playing. The controller for this console is nuts and for sure a welcome change in the gaming world. The not-so-good - in the first week, I had to reset my console after leaving it on rest mode due to a strange lighting issue where the screen would intermittently darken. Playing Spiderman Remastered, it would shift from day to night and back depending on the angle of the character. This screen darkening happened on the home screen as well as any other game I tried but a reset seemed to fix the issue and it hasn't happened since. As far as the controller's awesome features, they really only shine so far in Astros Playroom. I imagine we'll see a lot more use of it in future titles but for now, there isn't a ton of games I've played that make impressive use of the controller's features. My final real criticism is that PS spent all this time marketing this thing as a thing to outpace many PCs, yet we're stuck again with choosing between high frame rates and graphics settings for new PS games. That is something I can understand late in the life cycle of the console but it seems like they made it out to be something more than it is. Regardless of the slight shortcomings, I have no regrets with this purchase. My PS4 games have never looked or played better and the lack of load times for PS5 games off the SSD are insane. I enjoyed Astros Playroom so much I achieved platinum on it. It hardly ever makes any noise and the UI feels majorly improved over the PS4 to me. It was worth the purchase. Don't pay the scalpers though - save your money and be patient, there will be more.

Pros: SSD is amazing, I'm glad consoles finally get to experience the fast loading times and responsiveness. The controller is a huge upgrade from the Dualshock 4 with the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. Cons: 825GB of storage isn't adequate unless you're constantly deleting games.

After months of trying, I was finally able to get a PS5 from Best Buy. The process was simple--curbside pickup was fast and easy. I love the PS5. I've had every PlayStation console since the first one and as long as Sony continues to put out fantastic exclusives I'll always be a PlayStation fan. The PS5 has incredible graphics, super fast load times and an interface that is new and fresh. Yes, it's big. But I have it in a cabinet (with plenty of air flow) so it doesn't really matter. The stand is the best when used in the horizontal position--it isn't very secure and is easily separated from the console with the slightest movement. Overall, though, I like the design. I know it's a bit polarizing and may eventually look dated, but right now I think it's kind of interesting. But the most important thing is its performance and it's a powerful machine. Looking forward to the new games coming for it.

Being one of the lucky ones to actually pre-purchase and have this delivered to my address ( thank you Best Buy ). I can fully give an actual review of the product. This is the Sony Playstation 5, being the latest in the line to carry the name Playstation since 1994. Consoles may get updated versions through out it's life cycle which typically last anywhere from 7-10 years. The PS5 released on November 12th 2020 here in the USA. This is the successor to the Sony PS4 and will have some big shoes to fill as the PS4 has sold over 106 million units world wide and still being sold today. Sony has a long history of the best consoles sales in the world with their own Playstation 2 system topping all records of 159 million units sold. PS5 with it's futuristic design is the largest build of any console to date. New owners of this system will need to figure out just where this tower of a machine is going to fit and keeping in mind the machine will still need to breathe. As consoles are becoming more and more like power house PC's the one thing they don't share is a cooling system. Instead they still depend on internal fans to disperse heat which is generated inside the unit. The PS5 measures a whopping 15¼ x 3 x 10¼ inches. Out of the box you know your dealing with something special, and you can tell Sony really went all out making this console not only aesthetically pleasing, but also spared no expense on the material they used. The PS5 haptic feedback controller is 2nd to none with it's innovation and feel. Owners will notice right off the controller this time around feels expensive , looks expensive and built with quality. Unlike the PS4 dual shock controllers of the previous generation the new PS5 dual sense controller is the Future of gaming. As early adopters of any new hardware know there is always going to be some hiccups ranging from technical problems, software compatibility problems and even some hardware problems. PS5 has had it's share of negative feedback thanks to instant social media post. Those looking to purchase should keep in mind Sony offers 1 year warranty and best buy warranty coverage can be purchased separately which will cover any issues for another extended 2 years. Games on PS5 will no doubt be cutting edge and as the months to years roll on , developers will be able to tap into the full potential of this monster of a machine. It's a good time to be a gamer and be able to witness not only what is capable on the PS5 but it will also push the competition to keep up. When this happens the consumer benefits.

This is an amazing console. The controller is awesome, it loads games in an instant, the UI is really nice, and it all feels truly next-gen. One thing about the setup: if you choose to do the system transfer with a PS4, I'd recommend doing just save data and user settings. Transferring games takes a VERY long time (6 hours for 300 GB) and it's basically useless since it remembers all the games connected with your account anyway and takes a MUCH shorter time to download them one at a time. It's very quiet during play and only becomes audible if you get right next to it when the disk drive turns on, which doesn't happen often and lasts only a few seconds. I didn't hear the fan once, and it only got warm on the disk drive. The graphics are far superior to a PS4 Pro. The only downside (for me) is the storage space.

Going over hardware and software. Not going over the every exact technical specs as you can easily look that up. Software can change overtime, this is review of software at launch. If any hardware hiccups or failures in near future I'll update this review --Hardware: Physical: Looks futuristic yet tacky. In my personal opinion, looks doesn't really matter as long it can play next gen games well Large console. Standing up it's the tallest home video console. A lot of air-vents throughout making it aerodynamic, cool, quiet, and does not overheat or get hot with consecutive gameplay hours. This may change in the future if games require more performance out of the system, with similar fate like the PS4 where it was whisper quiet in beginning and became louder over the years with more graphical intensive games. Has LED lights giving it a PC look (?) Face plate easy to take out for future customization options (?). 667of 820gb of free download space in console Swapping SDD is not as easy as Xbox Series X (with it's plug and play method) as you have to remove some screws. Upside is that it's standard and not a propriety SDD. PS5 is compatible with most PS4 games. If you have an external SDD from PS4 it's just plug and transfer to PS5 internal storage Comes with stand. Console is not entirely flat, so stand is required for horizontal position. You have console in vertical position without stand, but does not have grip (rubber feet) so may slide if bumped into or during an earthquake Front of console: USB-C, USB-A, power, and eject button Back of console: Two USB-A (Super Speed), LAN port, HDMI, and power port Wished it had more USB-C ports to be future proof, but guess they kept USB-A for some current accessories to be backwards compatible. Disappointed the PS5 official 3D pulse headset and camera uses USB-A. Also no optical audio port means i can't use some of my surround sound headsets. Load times for PS5 games are instantaneous. Ps4 games will load much faster, even without optimized patch. Ps5 have ray tracing giving games realistic lighting effects -Controller: Console comes with one controller Physically larger than past DuelShock controllers. Great for those with adult sized hands Great tech demo included with 'Astro's Playroom'. Haptic feedback. Similar to Nintendo Switch HD rumble, but more apparent. Not sure if developers will implement in future their games. Even with Nintendo first party; only '1-2 Switch' and 'Mario Party' from what I recall used HD rumble at great extent and it dropped off after that. Adaptive triggers. Will feel resistance/push back on triggers if developers implement it in game. Hope both Haptic feedback and Adaptive triggers say the entire lifespan and transfer to PS6 instead of dropping off like the six axis on PS3 and light bar in PS4 Has built in mic. Sound quality is similar to current smart phone on speaker. Has mute button Similar to PS4, it has speaker and touch pad. Touch pad is more sensitive this time around About double battery life of Ps4 controller. Able to get in 10 consecutive hours Wished it came with back paddle buttons. Hopefully they release a DualSense Back Button Attachment like they did the DualShock 4 You can play PS4 games with DualShock 4 or DualSense . PS5 games only can be played with DualSense --Software UI, OS is the similar to PS4 with scrolling apps/games (left, right, up, down) There's an activity row where you can track your progress on games Other rows are News and PSN store There are notifications popups, but you can turn on 'Do Not Disturb' mode Similar to phone's swipe down tool bar for basic profile (trophy list, avatar, user info, etc), accessibility options, sound, Game Base, internet wifi select, controllers (see connected controllers), etc on home screen for easy access. 'Game Base' section is where you make party with friends and chat with them, view friend requests. Share button this time around will pull up menu to take snap shot, record video, or save video previously played game session for up to 60mins There's an 'Your Accolades' feature where you give props to other players. Reminds me of how to give endorsements (Sportsmanship, Good Teammate, Shot Caller) in Overwatch to encourage positivity in online community. For PS5 has Helpful, Welcoming, and Good Sport There are accessibility options/preferences you can setup that transfers to your games There's a 'Switcher' option where you can change games on the fly, but unlike the Xbox Series X's 'quick resume' does not leave where you left off, and will boot you back to the home screen of that game Picture-in-picture mode if you want friends to help show you how to get through levels PS4 games load faster on PS5 if downloaded to SSD. Graphical upgrade depends on publisher if they implement a 'PS5 upgrade" patch -For PS5 trophies. Trophies that have collectables there is a progress bar showing how much left to collect. There are also tutorial videos for some games that implement it. Some trophies once selected will drop you into the level/section where you can obtain the trophy. Again depends on game developer if they implement it. PS4 trophies on PS5 act the same Base price for games are $70 ($10 more than last gen); Excluding Special/Collector's editions, DLC, micro-transactions, loot crates, and surprise mechanics Overall, aside from some odd design choices very capable next gen system. There are some features especially on the controller that developers have to utilize and may not be present in all games. If anything like the PS3 and PS4, going to have thousands of gameplay hours on this system.

Pros: -Fantastic launch library. Spider-Man Miles Morales, Sackboy A Big Adventure, Demon's Souls, BugSnax, and Astro's Playroom BUILT IN which doesn't even take into account the high quality third party offering. -Whisper quiet, I have played this thing for hours and hours with games that are pretty graphically demanding like Miles Morales and Demon's Souls with very minimal sound. I could only hear it when I pressed my ear against it and the console sits very close to me in my setup. -The Dualsense, this controller is generation defining. This controller feels like an evolution of traditional controllers. Adaptive triggers, positional haptic feedback, built in microphone. The experience of playing a game with the Dualsense is unique, so much so that I have literally bough third party games for PS5 over PC or Series X purely because I wanted to see what they did with the DualSense. -Backwards Compatible, it plays nearly every single PS4 game that has ever released, most of which see performance improvements when being played on PS5 vs a PS4 even if there isn't a native PS5 version. -Great price to performance proposition. Last gen the launch PS4 and especially Xbox One felt underwhelming for many because even compared to cheaper midrange PCs they were regularly underperforming. It is borderline impossible to build a PC that matches these consoles in performance for equal or less money. Of course this will change with time but right here and now you will need to spend minimum hundreds more to build a PC that will perform equivalently to these consoles, of course upper midrange to high end PCs will still outperform them generally speaking (optimization aside) but as of right now these are the best value in gaming currently on the market. -Lightning fast, everything on this console is just faster. From playing games, to using the store, to using apps, to just navigating the UI it is just fast. So much so that I struggle going back to my PS4 now because it just feels so slow. It may lack Xbox's Quick Resume feature which is admiteddly very cool but it's still crazy fast (and Sony could just add their own version of that later as it is clearly a software feature) -PS Plus and PS Now are great. PS Plus being required to play online is admittedly kinda lame still but at least they have tried to make the service worth it. Every month you get 2-3 free games which may not always be to your liking but I know for me personally the service has more than paid for itself and on PS5 specifically you can get a pretty awesome collection of PS4 titles called the PS Plus Collection that includes games like Persona 5, Monster Hunter World, God of War, Uncharted 4, The Last of Us Remastered, ext. PS Now may have started as a service to simply stream PS3 games (which it still does) but its much more now. Not only has the streaming gotten much more tolerable lately but it includes a huge library of PS3 titles at a recently lowered price. On top of that it offers hundreds of PS4 games that you can not only also stream but download to your console and play natively. Basically if you use both of these services like me you will almost never have nothing to play on your console. Cons- -Form Factor, while the console looks really cool and honestly for me personally that kinda makes up for it, it does feel more form over function. Now its not to the same degree as launch Xbox 360s which sacrificed function so much that they were literally dying over their form BUT it does create minor annoyances. For example it is recommended that you use the included stand for vertical placement but it is REQUIRED for laying it flat otherwise it wobbles like crazy so you absolutely cannot lose the stand if you want to lay your console flat. For me this isn't a massive deal but I can see why it might bother some people. -The Dualsense battery is WAY better than the DS4, it lasts at least twice as long but it could still be better. I get roughly 13-15 hours out of this thing regularly which isn't bad but again could be better. -Upgrading last gen versions of games to next gen versions isn't as smooth and easy as Smart Delivery on Xbox. I personally haven't had any problems with it but the fact that I have to even think about it is automatically worse than the competition. Definitely something Sony couldve done better. - Lack of Backwards Compatibility beyond PS4. It's great that it supports practically the entire PS4 library but it's kind lame they still haven't figured out PS3 backwards compatibility and they just refuse to include PS2 or even PS1 backwards compatibility. This was something I was kind of hoping for even if I doubted they'd actually do it. The ultimate All-In-One Playstation that plays nearly all PlayStation games across 5 generations, maybe they can still add backwards compatibility for PS1 and PS2 eventually through emulation and even PS3 (outside of PS Now) but right now, nada. -Lack of an all-in-one service like Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. I know I said PS Plus and PS Now combined make for a ton of fun and value but it's annoying that Sony still hasn't found a way to combine all their services into one like Xbox does with Game Pass Ultimate (Which is Xbox Live Gold, Game Pass for Console and PC as well as XCloud Streaming). Seriously Sony just combine PS Plus and PS Now into a single bundle called PlayStation Platinum or something, that would be amazing and would help make the gap between Xbox and PlayStation in the services department be almost insignificant.

Wow finally a console that feels like I am playing a high end PC. It is a quite large piece of hardware so you’ll need a decent amount of room wherever you set it up. From the games I have played so far I definitely can tell a difference from playing on my PS4 Pro. It definitely feels like a big step up. I can’t wait to see what it truly holds once developers get more familiarized with the hardware. It’s gonna be a beast for years to come. I love the controllers it’s honestly one of the best parts. Also the built in game Astros Playroom is one of best games I’ve played in a while. And even thought it’s kind of a tech demo to show off the haptic feedback and triggers, it doesn’t feel tacked on or gimmicky. It’s a must have even though it’s so hard to get.

It's been a while since I've owned a gaming console but you definitely can't go wrong with this one. Overall impressions 1- it's big, so big that it doesn't fit under my tv stand so i had to give it it's own little table. 2- it's fast, games load very quickly and also download quickly. 3- it's very easy to prolong its life. As shown by Sony when the console was barely released, it's very easy to take apart which is a dream come true for people who actually do maintenance of they're electronic equipment and like to clean it/ remove any dust that got in. 4- it's quiet, maybe it's because I haven't owned a console in a while or because there's always slight background noise at my place but this console is quiet.

The system is great. The graphics, draw distances, and framerates have all been great. Load times are significantly improved over previous generations. However, the biggest improvement is in the controller. The included Astro's Playroom game does a great job showing off the new feature of the controller. It will be interesting to see how much developers make use of it. The only downside is that at launch there is no software support for NVME SSD hard drives. Luckily the hardware is on-board and support will come in a future software update, but we don't know when. The 825gb is is extremely limiting for next-gen games. I am constantly having to delete games in order to make room for others. This might be a pain point if you don't have gigabit internet.

System works brilliant. I’ve had no issues with my console. Transfer time from my PS4 storage to my ps5 took about 20 mins. Spider-Man mile morales plays/looks great. Also RDR2 looks and plays amazing on it( coming from a launch PS4). You can definitely tell the differences. The controller feels great in my hand and the haptic feedback is wicked cool. The UI is easy to navigate and sweet also. Picking it up the day of launch was pretty smooth. Had an appt at 6:30 am. Got there and there was a bunch of people in line, who I guess all had the same time appts? I just came back after work and walked right in and was out within 5-10mins. All in all The Who process was great and I enjoy my product. Would recommend for anyone deciding to get one or is trying to get one.

A great system if you can grab one. (Use a restock service through Facebook/ Discord.. try a couple times, follow the tips and you'll likely snag one) It's surprisingly big, and honestly, we havent fully seen what this system is capable of, bit if Ratchet is the beginning, this has potential to be even greater than ps4. Dualsense is the star of the show; hope your favorite games' devs opt for 4k and 60fps or better and you'll no doubt be feeling like youve gotten the next gen system. Prices may feel more expensive, but are more understandable when you calculate them through inflation calculators, or you can always compare to a low tier gaming PC.

Very great console. Good performance at 60fps. Great graphics at 4k. The best controller I've ever used. With good games dropping frequently it's a good time to opt in for one
