If you're looking to stay competitive in the console wars, this is the armament you need. Sony has once again delivered a sleek, powerful machine capable of playing the best games in the business. That said...well, there are some things you should know. First of all, there has been a MASSIVE issue with supply shortages, bots snatching up inventory, and chip shortages halting production. It appears we are getting away from those problems, but getting your hands on a console can still be a hassle. I was fortunate that Best Buy has found a few ways around the bots and scalpers. As for the console itself, it is a LARGE machine. It is also a unique and strange shape, so check your measurements for your entertainment center. The biggest question mark on a purchase is the current lineup of games. Right now, we are at the beginning of this console generation, even a year into the launch. That means there really isn't a "killer app" to sell you on a $500 purchase. However, there are some major titles in the works coming just next year, so your wait won't be long. If you're reading a review on a PS5, you're probably gonna get one. It's a forgone conclusion. If you really want one, just be patient and persistent. Your time will come. Play carefully.

The hottest Item around! Was very hard to get, but lucked up. This one was for my friend and he loves it. I have one also and its awesome! Smooth game play and crisp graphics. If you really want the full power of get a tv with HDMI 2.1 and 120hz. Good recommendation is the Q80t Samsung 65 inch tv. The Dual Sense Controller is Awesome and brings so much to the system. If you get lucky to get one, enjoy it!

Great system! I was a huge gamer and had owned every console up to now. You cant go wrong with any of the next gen consoles. Amazing graphics but not a huge jump compared to the previous consoles and more importantly the load times are amazing! The load times was the main reaoson i wanted to upgrade. I definitely recommend if you can snag one.

Nothing else to say, really. Through a $120 M.2 SSD in and it’s even faster, if you can believe that.

Super fun playing games with this PlayStation 5. Comes with a controller, had to cop an extra to play with the homies when they come over. Overall, great purchase and amazing graphics compared to past generations. I wouldn't consider it a necessary upgrade at the moment tho. I like this better than the disc because you can save a hundred bucks and I only buy games digitally anyway.

Simply amazing display of graphics and smooth gaming. The accessibility and separation of media and games is a great addition to organize both. The notifications when downloads among others is subtle but also there with clarity to not interrupt your viewing. Loading times reduced significantly is amazing. The only possible knock on it is that it is tall and bulky. Well worth the money spent.

This is great! The load times are amazing and the ray-tracing is phenomenal. My only complaint about the PS5 is the storage (which is expandable with a memory slot but they're going to be so expensive until competitors are allowed to produce some competition). Oh, only a few games out at the moment for it but that's how it always goes for launch consoles and the few games that are out on it are awesome.

Was a really smooth and easy transaction to get my system

Very happy that Best Buy was still selling these as a standalone product and not as a bundle. Great purchase process, and the console itself is as expected. Fast startup, great graphics, hilariously and inconveniently large for the 21st century. Sure it's pretty to look at but I'd rather be able to tuck it in a normal TV stand and not see it at all.

After PS3 and PS4, the PS5 felt dead-quiet upon first purchasing in comparison to the previous generations. The console itself is great, and the Dualsense controller is truly inventive and helps with immersion in some games, both in the haptics and adaptive triggers. However, it's started to develop significant coil whine and get noisier, which is slowly bugging me more and more. Even tucking the console behind my TV, I can still hear the buzzing with nighttime low volumes in my surround system. I don't mind the fans, it's the coil whine buzzing that I'm referring to - check YouTube for examples. I hope Sony does something to address this, as my Xbox Series X is dead-quiet in comparison, and I will likely start buying some cross-platform games on that platform for noise concerns alone, at least when the Dualsense features are not implemented. So close to giving 5 stars otherwise.

What an amazing experience, Sony has done it again. The new ui and controller are amazing and little things like this separate Sony from Microsoft. Right away you have multiple next gen games to choose from like Spider-Man miles morales and demons souls. You can also revisit last gen games that have been updated with higher quality graphics and updated frame rates and make them feel fresh and exciting.

Excellent console. Have been owner of xbox for long time but had to get ps5

Played PS1 and PS2, and have played xbox exclusively since then until the PS5 came out. Really loving it so far. The controller is honestly really amazing, of course graphics are great. Currently grinding through a long list of exclusives that I've missed out on (demon souls, bloodborne, last of us, god of war, etc). Side note, the home screen music is so relaxing lol.

The controller alone is better than any other system. Great console!

I have been playing Playstation for decades, ever since a kid. I guess I am a Sony fanboy. Either way, the system is great, operates smoothly, and subtle improvements make the system much more convenient to use. I use it for streaming and gaming, so there is a lot of use. I would recommend it for a gaming system. The controllers are amazing too!
