It’s not really needed to charge your controllers but it helps having your controller fully charged at anytime and it’s good looking so it goes great with the ps5 console and the controllers.

Pretty easy to connect controllers. No pushing down to click or unclick. It's well worth never having to plug in your controller via USB. A must have if you ever hate having a dead controller.

I leave the controller on it every time I finished play ps5. The light pop up when is charging, then goes off when is finished. So I think it won’t over charge the battery.
