I had the previous model and this blows it out the water! Worth the upgrade thus far. They are bigger than expected and was worried about if or how they would look wall mounted. After installing on the wall, they look Elegant! I have an outlet near by and the recharging cord is long enough to reach to recharge or leave in plugged up if your into that. It is true they don’t come on automatically while unplugged, so have to manually turn each on and would be nice to use them as a Bluetooth speaker individually or together( took a star for these issues) I’m sure Sony will address that soon. Otherwise, Dolby ATMOS sound AMAZING. Move over turned my living room into a Movie Theater!

In a NYC Apt: Perfect pair up w/ Bravia Soundbar 8 and 65" Bravia 8 OLED. Plenty of sound, bass and effects to get a an immersive experience w/o external subwoofer. Achieving surround DTS Atmos on budget for not much more than buying just the Bravia Soundbar 9 only. If you have the budget sure but this combo is already fantastic at half volume. Well though out design, materials, components included. If you wait for sales can get the Soundbar 8 and these rear speakers for cheaper than the Soundbar 9!!

These perform incredibly well with dplby atmost content as they are meant to. They definitely should be able to get a little louder considering their size and since they are truly wireless with 10h of battery life they should be able to have a setting for playing what the center channel is putting out to expand the sound to other part of the home (house party scenario or watching from a different area of the home). And just as big of a missed opportunity how these cant doublr as a stand alone bluetooth speskers. I gave 4 stars but as i wrote this i was tempted to give 3

After my 75” Sony Bravia XR purchase ,I decided to get the complete sound set to complete my Dolby Atmos Experience. Adding to my Sony HT-A7000 7.1.2 soundbar which alone out of the box sounded great, I added the 300W SA-SW5 Subwoofer for added true rich , tight deep bass low tones. That’s brings me to the new addition to my Sony Family , rear speakers SA-RS5. Let me tell you, this rear speakers truly add to the Dolby Atmos experience. Being rear speakers, they have both forward and upward facing speakers. They come with 10 hour internal battery Incase you need to temporary move your speakers around where you might not have a wall plug outlet. Sound is fantastic, midranges and high times are crystal clear.

Was hesitant to buy these, due to price. Now i cant imagine my set up without them. Bought the str -an1000 receiver, for a 5.1 set up. Be aware these wireless take two channels. Atmos up firing and surround - so 2 channels per each surround speaker. So three in front and only these two in back. Can only use wireless sub OR wired. Not both. (Can use 2 wireless, or wired - but not one of each) this is confirmed with sony support. If you know all this going in, and 5.1.2 (also cannot use atmos stand toppers with the wireless surrounds) - the. You will be happy. The sound is immersing and excellent once you fone tune the settings. I am overall very happy and satisfied. I have enough to set up another system in another room, so not a total loss. Lol….

I like the design and technology of this speaker but i wish it kicked in a little more. When i watch sports i don't near much audio from it. I also crank movies way up which is fun but i wish it could just play excessively louder with the Hta5000 or Hta7000 at a lower volume level. I got in a package deal with a sub and 5000 soundbar for 399. It's a decent value. I've tweaked in the settings but maybe i need to more.

I had gone to BB to look at TV’s for an upgrade to our 65” Sony Bravia. While looking at the TV’s the sales associate was assisting me in trying to narrow down the TV that I would most likely be interested in. Enter my wife. The sales associate turns on the surround sound. And it blew both me and my wife away. My wasn’t really into surround sound as I am until the sales associate turned it on. So with the TV that I settled on we bought the entire surround system. The Sound bar. Which I was never a fan of because I have a Marantz receiver that handled it. But the sound bar. Subwoofer and these surround rear speakers. Are just awesome. Oh and my wife had always wanted me to get rid of the tower speakers and center channel and surround speakers from the living room. Kind of like down sizing but with this set up I won’t miss the towers. Sony XR 77a80L OlED, Sony HTA8000 5.1.2 atmos sound bar. Sony SA SW5 300 watt wireless subwoofer. Sony SA RS 5 rear surround speakers. All wireless. This set up is awesome.

Paired these SARS 5speakers with HTA 5000 sound bar andSASW5 subwoofer Soundbar was purchased in2023 great that the system can be added to as you are able Sound is spectacular in 20x20 room with 12 ft ceiling. These speakers put out fabulous sound but not huge volume originally we had them about 6 ft behind seating and 6 ft off the floor after moving them to 3 ft behind seating and 4 ft above floor sound is great. Both speakers synced up automatically when powered on and we have had no issues. These speakers are on the expensive side for home systems but probably worth the extra cost

    Better than the RS3

These are better than the RS3. For an additional $300 I guess they should be though, right? These speakers seem to add more "meat" to the sound. Also, they have upward firing speakers so it'll add two more Atmos speakers. I returned the RS3 for these because I felt the extra money was worth it. I do feel like they could have removed the battery function of these and made the cost about $100 cheaper. Also, if you do use the, what I'll call the "battery mode," the speakers will have to be manually turned on every time you turn your system on. If you leave them plugged in, you don't need to constantly turn them back on. I did have to manually turn them on once, but it has been one time in the past month. You don't want to put too many things between the speakers and the sound bar. I had to move my back speakers closer to the couch which is about 2 feet off the wall. The sound was going in and out when the speakers were against the wall, but closer to the back of the couch and still on the outer sides of the couch and the sound hasn't been an issue. I also felt more immersed in the sound when I moved them up. It definitely felt better.

Bought these with a Sony STR-AN1000 receiver. They synced easily and the microphone tuning of the STR-AN1000 worked well. The only issue is I had two existing Atmos height speakers ontop of my right and left tower. Thought these up firing heights would add 2 more Atmos but the STR-AN1000 can't support wired and wireless height at the same time. That's more a knock on the STR-AN1000 then these specific speakers but make sure your receiver can support them if you are looking for 5.1.4. These do not have the option to wire them into a receiver. I did buy them because I liked the wireless but if I move to a non-Sony receiver someday not sure they would sync. Knocked a star off of value for this lack of future proofing.

I have the big Sony soundbar that goes with these, the A7000 and I thought it was good, but something happened with it's sound quality when hooking these up. The sound stage on it opened up even more and the difference was quite noticeable even though none of the settings on it were changed. The battery life appears to be good. Only issue is you have to have them plugged in to update the software, and I kept forgetting and the update prompt would disappear. I would say if you have a Sony soundbar, these are a must have!

A bit pricey but happy with the construction and sound quality. Enjoy have the enhanced sound from rear speakers. To better fill the room. It took some work to get them to connect to my sound bar (Sony Bar 8) but I had good support from Best Buy and the Sony rep.

First let me begin by saying I bought these as "Open Box-Excellent". The item was brand new in the retail box. The speakers were never opened out of the packing material. Save $120. I have them paired with the Sony HT-A7000 sound bar and the Sony SA-SW5 subwoofer. The speakers make a big difference. It adds fullness, effects, and details when watching movies. It also sounds awesome when listening to music! The speakers can be adjusted for volume during the set up. I have an open floor plan and this system adapts to the area making it sound as if you are in a theater. These speakers when placed right, make you feel like you are in the middle of the action! Yes they are expensive! I was hesitant on purchasing them but after connecting them to my system, money well spent! I had a 10 year old Sony ES receiver pushing a Deftech satellite speaker system and this new Sony system blows that out of the water! Sony has really stepped up their game!

WOW… I have the Sony A7000 sound bar paired with the RS-3. My wife wanted to watch the Eras concert from Taylor Swift and asked me if the RS-5’s will make a difference (she knew about the research I was doing) then I said, there is only one way to find out. Went to Best Buy, bought them, installed one of them on the same wall mounts from the RS-3’s (for testing purposes) and we were impressed with the difference. However, if you like to customize your audio EQ then do not get these RS-5’s since they are fixed and cannot customize the audio coming out of them. The Sony A7000 sound bar does all of the configuration for it and you won’t be disappointed either but I would love for Sony to give us more access as with the RS-3’s. The up firing speaker form the RS-5 is really noticeable even with my old popcorn ceiling. Definitely worth the upgrade. $$$ Expensive!

I like the rear speakers it sounds good! It's a big speaker and loud enough to hear the sound effects as it is meant to do. It has volume control. I keep mines plugged in the outlet. Or you can use it portable without plugging it in for 10 hrs. It has lights in the front to let you know when to charge it back up and it works plugged in and charging at the same time.
