Take your $700 and put it where this sub would b…
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Seriously. A pile of $$ would sound as great as this does once the soundbar fails to connect to your Bravia app for no reason. This sub does nothing because their soundbar routinely does nothing. There is no way to tune the sub without their Bravia app. The app doesn’t work 90% of the time.

Comparing with Sonos and Bose
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Compared to Sonos Arc and Bose this one performed low both on its sound quality and clarity. The Sony subwoofer doesn’t have bass when compared to sonos and Bose. Tested it connecting to a Sony OLED tv as well as Bluetooth Spotify from iPhone. This one needs a lot of improvement.

Beast of a subwoofer
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Note that this subwoofer is being reviewed as part of the entire 7.1.2 channel speaker system including the SA-RS3S rear speakers and HF-A7000 sound bar. If Star Trek’s holodeck existed, this would be the sound system they use. My previous system was the Sony HT-Z9F, and I wanted a new sound bar that had a more memorable model number. That and the fact that my old one was no longer reliable. Often, there would be a delay of 5 to 10 seconds before the sound would come through after turning on the TV. The setup of the A7000 system is about as easy as it gets. The wireless rears and subwoofer connect automatically to the sound bar. Once that’s done, you can run an auto-configuration in which the sound bar will play some tones to measure the speaker placement. No more pulling out a tape measure to check distance, though you still can if you want. I thought the sound of my old Z9F, however, was fantastic. But Sony has upped the sound quality even more in the A7000. The A7000 is a hefty sound bar and no doubt its size helps it create the enormous sound stage it produces. It has speakers that direct sound forward, upwards, as well as towards the side. And each of those speakers is engineered for hitting just the right acoustic. When connected to the wireless rear speakers and subwoofer, the result is a rich, full, sound the envelopes you. Watching UltraHD movies on Netflix, for example, makes you feel like you’re in the middle of the action. Sony also has a setting called Immersive Audio Enhancement (AE) to “convert” regular audio as if it were 7.1.2. Initially I thought it would sound too artificial. Obviously if the source signal is not 7.1.2, the sound bar can’t actually direct sound to the correct location. But once I got used to Immersive AE’s simulation, turning it off made the sound noticeably less rich. Like many sound bars, there is a separate volume setting to punch up the sound of voice. Whereas I had maxed out that setting on the Z9F, dialogue from the A7000 was perfectly discernible without needing to adjust the voice volume. Though the speaker system aims squarely for watching movies and shows, its 360 Reality Audio implementation is also remarkable for music services that offer premium quality sound: Amazon Music HD (included with their Unlimited plan), Tidal and Nugs.net. Though these services sound great with headphones, hearing this quality of music in a room speaker system is liberating. There are a couple of negatives, and for that, I’d really rate this as 4.5 stars. First, the rear spears sound great as expected, but they don’t fire upwards. Instead, they are standard configuration rears. Second, the 300W subwoofer is a beast and I can understand why it’s at additional cost. At the price point of the sound bar by itself, however, I think it would be a better value if Sony had at least included the 200W subwoofer, and perhaps the rear speakers as well. In any case, this system delivers premium sound with ease of install and ease of use. The sound bar by itself will enhance any room. But the addition of the wireless rear and subwoofer speakers adds an amazing dimension not to be missed.

Plenty of power
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an excellent subwoofer to add to the Sony soundbar. I learned there is an art to placing a subwoofer properly in a room and it is well worth the time to get it right. Initially I wasn’t that impressed. I put it in the corner and fired it up. Sounded decent but lacking. I think this is where most people including myself misunderstand how important this step is. I did a Google search and found the subwoofer crawl. Seemed ridiculous but after 20 minutes crawling around on the floor and getting it correct with minimal dead spots for my room dynamics it was like night and day. Hard hitting clean accurate bass.It still ironically worked best for me in a corner but it was the opposite one I planned. I strongly recommend this subwoofer. Solid construction, lots of power and a high end look.

Sub for the HT A7000-A must buy with the sound bar
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have to address the elephant in the room. Which is the price. The soundbar alone costs two times as much as my actual TV. But it's like putting a corvette engine in a beetle's body. Which means it can be done and has been done. In other words, the soundbar and it's components do to discriminate in making your TV better than it can be without a soundbar. Honestly, this is a true flag ship sound system that Sony has released here. I mean when I got the soundbar, it's almost as long as my 65 inch TV. To boot it's large and heavy because it's 11 speakers stuffed into this soundbar. The unboxing has everything you need including a high speed HDMI cable. The set up was simple as you can get. Connect to an ARC/eARC port on your TV and corresponding port on the soundbar and you are good to go! The different thing about this soundbar is that you can actually go into the settings on the TV. This will give you the place to go into the settings of the soundbar to connect to your favorite smart assistants being Alexa or Google. I opted for both but each will require a dedicated smart device to operate. My prior soundbar system had Alexa built in which was super convenient, even though I am a Google household rather than Alexa. The built in Alexa gave me more access to the Alexa ecosystem than just the app on my device, which was fun. However this does not have a built in smart assistant. Rather it has a built in chromecast, which is kind of weird to me. For me I know chromecast is a device to cast videos and audio, not just audio. It's not a bad thing ,but I do not see myself using this feature, because my TV has chromecast built in already. I would have preferred a built in smart assistant but that's ok, I have a few google speakers to perform this if I want it. Now to the sound. It is robust and sounds great but having subwoofer in my old system, I had to test out the other components like the compatible subwoofer and rear speaker system. Install is easier than plug and play. It's just plug and place! All the components paired without me doing a thing. With everything connected, it felt like when Voltron forms from the 5 components, it just feels right. The bass from the subwoofer is nice and clear and precise, where the rear speakers bring in the rear and do give the true 360 experience that Sony advertises. Even the automatic setting to ensure the correct balance is done wirelessly and is done from it's speakers and microphones to calculate the best balance from each other. So of course, you will need to be not in the line of sound when you set this up. And because of this, there is not setting to equalize. It is done through the automatic setting in the app that can be viewed on your TV. It kind of reminds me of a projector menu but it works. In that setting, besides the assigning your preferred smart assistant, you can also set up Spotify that is paired with Alexa in a way. This way, is not a bad way by any means. It's just....let's say different, In playing multiple formats of movies in ultra HD on Netflix to blasting music on Spotify, this system sings when everything is in sync with each other. I love the highs and bass when you need it and is not muddy with no distortion what so ever. So would I recommend this product? This sub is a no-brainer. If spending this much money I highly recommend getting this sub. The sounds from this is so well done and in a discreet package to boot.

Surround yourself in a blanket of sound!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an optional extension of Son'y new flagship series of soundbars. I highly recommend getting this additional subwoofer to extend the low end of your system. This will make movies much more entertaining! The subwoofer is simple to setup as it automatically pairs to the soundbar when you turn it on. See the included review of the primary HT-A7000 soundbar below to understand how the entire system functions: This compact soundbar gives you a 7.1.2 experience! With two up-firing speaker for overhead sound, two beam tweeters, five front speakers for winder surround, and a built-in subwoofer, you can’t ask for more in such a compact size. Utilizing Sony’s Surround Engine and S-Force PRO Front Surround, this system created virtual surround sound that comes from all around you, so you can enjoy the full immersion of your Dolby Atmos and DTS:X content. If you have any doubts on how well their Surround Engine works, find Sony’s demo video on YouTube showcasing the technology, it will blow you away! Technology size, this soundbar has endless connection options (HDMI, USB, Optical and Analog, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi streaming, Spotify Connect, Chromecast, Apple Airplay 2, and more), and supports up to 8K HRD passthrough content. Combined with High-Resolution Audio for crystal clear precision or their 360 Reality Audio, you can submerse yourself in an amazing live concert or studio session experience. Your music comes to life like never before! Sony utilizes Edge-AI (Artificial Intelligence) combined with DSEE Extreme (Digital Sound Enhancement Engine) to upscale compressed digital music files in real time giving you unmatched sound quality. Upon setting the system up, you can let the system auto-configure all the settings for you using their Sound Field Optimization system. It uses the built-in microphones to intelligently measure the position of each speaker in your room. This fine tunes all of the sound technologies to deliver you the best experience possible. Setting up the soundbar takes no time at all, it’s almost ready to go straight out of the box. Simply plug it in, connect to your TV using the HDMI eARC connection and power it on. The quick on screen guide will run you through an auto configuration and have you listening in no time. Additionally, it has the capability to connect via USB, optical, or analog connections. It’s a little over 51 inches wide, 3.25 inches tall, and just over 5.5 inches deep. It’s total power output is 500 watts. I cannot stress more how much this device will blow you away. It has amazing clarity, hard to believe surround sound, and the compatibility is outstanding. I’ve listened to a wide arrange of content, from 4K Dolby Vision/Atmos movies, full surround concerts, or plain boring 2 channel content that is brought alive by the DSEE processing, this device does not disappoint. If you’re looking to expand this system even more, make sure you purchase the optional rear wireless speakers, and optional wireless larger subwoofer. The devices connect automatically and extend your listening pleasure even further.
