It is 20 percent less loud than jbl clip. But I prefer the sound quality over the jbl clip. JBL clip is louder, but high pitch, and no bass.

However, based on the reviews I read before purchasing, I expected a bit more from this speaker. The sound quality is decent but I have a tiny shower speaker that's about 1/4 the size of this one that has more volume somehow. If you want a speaker that can hold up to conversation, this one isn't it. It works fine for boosting laptop sound in a quiet room though. My laptop always says it fails to recognize it but it works flawlessly every time regardless. I do wish the buttons were more visible for low light situations but I suppose I'll have them memorized by feel eventually.
