Nice color and package, but poor sound range

Have two older UE Boom 2 speakers I was looking to replace. This speaker is a nice color and easy to connect to, but sadly the sound is really only decent if you’re within like 10 degrees of the centerline. Outside of that it muffles quickly. My brother described it as sounding like a speaker inside a box. Will be returning.

Overall I would not recommend this speaker. Initially it seems to be excellent, however after only 5 months and being used sparingly the USB C receptacle will no longer allow a cable to be inserted. The receptacle seems to no longer be seated securely internal to the speaker. I have many many products from competing brands and I take the utmost care in using and maintaining them. This Sony speaker is the only one that had a premature charging port failure. BUY A DIFFERENT BRAND. Here's the kicker: I keep all receipts and original packaging in case I need to use a product warranty. This should tell you how meticulously careful I am with my products. I started a chat with Sony to request warranty services and was promptly denied and told I physically damaged the product. Then I was told it is not possible for there to be a physical failure of the charging port without physical damage. WHAT? There are multiple points of possible failure in a USB C receptacle that can absolutely occur through no fault of the user. And yet, Sony seemingly can diagnose with such precision over text chat and with minimal details, that they are able to arbitrarily deny warranty coverage. I wonder how much money Sony saves every year by doing this? You would think that at bare minimum there should be a physical examination in order to deny warranty coverage. I have spent tens of thousands of dollars buying Sony products for myself, friends, and family. It sucks that they will be losing my future business over a $99 speaker. TL;DR DON'T BUY SONY. They don't stand behind their products, and deny warranty coverage by claiming physical damage without ever even seeing the speaker. Seriously, they determined physical damage over a chat.

      Hi Ryujin,

Thank you for sharing your feedback on your experience with the SRSXB23 Bluetooth speaker. We regret to hear what happened to the DC IN of the unit. This is definitely not the experience we want our customer to have. Unfortunately, the limited warranty of your Bluetooth Speaker does not cover any kind of accidental or physical damage.

We'd like to make sure that you are taken care of. Please email the below information to socialsupport@am.sony.com.
