Great Bluetooth speaker with quality sound
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great portable Bluetooth speaker with excellent sound quality, but a bit pricey, it sounded good I ended up purchasing a 2nd one to pair it together which is so cool, and it actually pairs as a left and right when synced together. Your capable of syncing up to 100 of these little speakers at once, but 2 seems to be fine at 100 bucks each. If you use these at full volume be sure to plug them in while doing so , because they will drain charge quickly, while plugged in they'll keep playing.

Well Built / Nice Sound
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The packaging is pretty straight forward, no frills, cardboard surrounds inside to hold the speaker in place inside the box. Hey it just had to get to the store and then home with no damage. First impression: Overall the speaker has a good look and feel. Powering it up. I was able to easily pair it to my iPhone and checking the battery I found it was at half charge. Pulling up my favorite play list produced a nice clean sound with solid bass at the initial setting. One place I plan on using this is at work, so I tried turning the volume down to a level I'd use there and found it still retained some good bass and I could still make out the vocals. Next I tried making a Skype call and the person on the other end couldn't hear the music, but the level was still acceptable for me. The controls are what you'd expect: Power, volume up and down, play(call)/pause, Battery and Bluetooth Pairing. There's also a Party button for playing across multiple compatible speakers. I tried pressing the Party button with only this one speaker and that resulted in the loss of the connection with my phone. Not sure there's any use for this with a single speaker but will have to check the instructions. I also downloaded the Sony Music Center app which gave me access to the Extra Bass settings, a small equalizer (bass/mid/treb), and the ability to change between mono and stereo. There are also some Power Options available (Bluetooth Standby, Stamina and Battery Voice Levels). My preference was with the mid boosted slightly to bring the vocals out a little more with the Extra Bass on. There are three ports on the bottom end of the speaker which act as a bass port at the bottom end while the speaker is standing up. The bottom also has a rubberized coating, which should help keep it from "walking" across a surface while playing. It says you can also lay it down, but this speaker is a round tube. If the surface you're placing it on isn't level, the only thing that will keep it from rolling is the lanyard/hanging loop at the top if you initially place it in this manner. If the surface gets bumped hard enough or shifts I can see this rolling right off the edge. This is the only knock I have on the speaker. I didn't really notice much of a difference in the sound standing up or on the side and it will take up less space standing so that's how I expect to use it most of the time, unless its hanging in my tent. Overall the sound for the size of the speaker is pretty good. If you're looking for a party/dance speaker it may not be quite big enough, but for a small group sitting around a fire pit or hanging out at the beach/pool the Sony XB23 will fit the bill nicely. By day it will be on my desk at the office and I can see it travelling with me on camping trips and tailgating with friends.

Its alright
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The speaker is OK love the design it's pretty loud for its size though what's the battery capacity could give it like 20 hours of play by time rather than just 12 Sounds good up to 60 or 70% after that it struggles a bit Very convenient Fitch in cup holders and backpacks and can hang in various areas no problem works well with the app to change sound, But honestly this thing should be around $60 not 100!

Posted .Hi Lydon,
Were glad you like most of the features and the portable design of the speaker. The battery life of our XB23 is approximately up to 12 hours, so your music never gets left behind. In addition, the SRS-XB23 can party even longer than you can. Even in EXTRA BASS mode, you can party for up to 10 hours. To get the sound that you prefer, please try the different sound modes found in the Sony Music Center app. There is even an EQ in there—which can be customized to fine-tune your music to your liking.
The speakers of the XB23 are carefully designed to give you a real three-dimensional listening experience. Featuring the newly developed X-Balanced Speaker Unit which provides high sound quality and powerful sound pressure for a richer, deeper, more rewarding listening experience.
Thanks for sharing your feedback!

Q: QuestionThis speaker doesn’t come with a charging block ?
Asked by Hodges5678.
- A:Answer Hi Damien, this speaker does not come with an AC Power Adaptor. The built-in battery of the speaker can be charged when connected to an AC outlet via the supplied USB Type-C cable and a USB AC adaptor (commercially available). The speaker supports USB AC adaptors that are capable of delivering an output current of 1.5 A. Thanks! -Jess

Q: QuestionIf my computer does not have bluetooth does it come with a cable to plug into the computer?
Asked by ScoobyDoo.
- A:Answer Hi SantasElf, We appreciate your interest in the XB23. It comes only with a USB Cable and warranty card. We apologize, this unit doesn't feature an AUDIO IN jack. It is a Bluetooth only model. If you want to play music, you can use your smartphone and connect it via Bluetooth connection. You might want to consider getting the XB43, XB12, XB22, XB32, or the XB41 which do have 3.5mm in, but connecting an audio cable to this jack turns off sound output from the connected BLUETOOTH device. I hope this helps! Regards, Jess

Q: QuestionIf I sync multiple 33s using party, leave them plugged in and in Bluetooth standby mode, will I be able to connect to any speaker at any time via Bluetooth, and they will all play in sync? Or do I manually have to re-sync all the speakers each time?
Asked by Mulberry.
- A:Answer Hi Mulberry, Thanks for your inquiry! Yes, the XB23 will auto connect to the first Bluetooth signal it sees. The unit must be on in order to do this. You can turn “Auto Standby” mode off and leave the unit plugged in while you are out. The Party Connect function is terminated when the speaker is turned off and needs to establish the Party Connect function again to play in sync. I hope this helps. Regards, Erin

Q: QuestionWhat kind of connector is needed for ac power? I’ve tried several usb cables and none work.
Asked by Adaptor.
- A:Answer Hi Adaptor, Thanks for inquiring about the XB23. The speaker supports USB type C charging cable. There should have been one in the box. That cable can be connected to most USB AC adaptors that are capable of delivering an output current of 1.5 A. We hope this helps, Erin

Q: QuestionIs it OK to leave the SRS-XB23 plugged in continuously to a USB charger? It is going to remain in one place and I would prefer to keep it on AC power and not use the battery and have to keep charging it. Please let know. Thank you.
Asked by SonyFan.
This question was asked about the related product: Sony - SRS-XB23 Portable Bluetooth Speaker - Light Blue
- A:Answer Hi SonyFan, Thank you for your inquiry. Yes, it is safe to leave it plugged in 24/7 because charging stops when the Li-ion battery is full. A topping charge is only applied when the battery voltage drops to a certain level. To maximize battery life, however, it is better to not keep it plugged in. Environmental conditions, not cycling alone, govern the longevity of lithium-ion batteries. Do not charge in conditions too cold or too warm (below 41F or above 95F) When not in use, keep the device stored in a cool place, partially charged. Operating condition between 30 and 80 percent maximizes battery life. Lithium Ion batteries have no memory and are not degraded with partial discharges. The worst situation is keeping a fully charged battery at elevated temperatures. Hope this helps! Regards, Sam
