Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this to replace a 10-year-old samsung that was freezing at times while streaming. thought a new one with an updated processor might be better. well, this one doesnt freeze, it hardly does anything. it played amazon prime one night then the next would not fire up. once started, it defaults to netflix and nothing will stop it. try to go to home screen and nothing. none of the buttons do anything. shut it off, reboot, and still nothing. will not play thumb drives as it will not even show them as there is no home screen. I have a cheap 60-dollar unit I hooked up and it does exactly what it is supposed to, unlike the 229 dollar one. I had bought 2 of these, 1 for the main media room and 1 for the bedroom and will be returning both.

Firmware updates can improve the functionality and fix performance issues. You can download the latest firmware from the Sony support page:

I sure hope this one lasts longer. The on-screen interface is more streamlined with this model and all operations seem smoother. The image quality of both my Blu-ray's and 4K Blu-rays is superb.
