Did some research and this one was right for me. Had purchased Sony products in the pass and have been happy with previous products. Easy to set up - just plug in and ready to go.

I was looking for a DVD player and the Sony was the best that Bestbuy had to offer.

Works pretty good. Depending on the DVD it doesn't always remember where it left off after powering it off and on again with the same DVD in it.

Plays the blu-ray and other DVD formats well. Easier to operate with the remote, buttons are hard to see.

The picture quality is awesome with my 85” Sony TV. I know streaming is all the rage but I own 500 movies so why not have the best quality player?!

Sony used to be tops. Everything I had was a Sony. Then they went from Japan to China and the quality suffered. But it seems China is learning how to improve the quality, so this was a good quality purchase.

Great blu-ray player and app selection works very well with 4k Blu-rays.

Definitely can see the difference Ultra HD makes while watching movies!

First blue ray. Only had dvd before. Old unit was dvd/VHS recorder player. Dvd player portion failed. This is great but prices sure have gone up over the years. Would recommend.

Great disc player! Streaming functions work smoothly with a good user interface. Fast and responsive with disc loading. Glad I purchased!

Product is great. Went on sale 30 days later and Bet buy wouldn't honor the new price. Sony is great but I'll but somewhere else.

Upgrading from earlier x800. You lose a few features but gain dolby vision but its the exact same remote, case and design. You could probably score an x800 for about $80 used if you dont care about DV, those players did still support hdr tho. The european versions of this player also do all region and convert PAL to NTSC

We Love our Sony DVD player. Easy to hook up and begin playing DVDs. Excellent and slim design fits perfect under our new TV.

This is one of the best CD and media players I have ever had. Works great.

Solid budget 4k player. Knocking one star because manually switching Dolby Vision is annoying.

Most of the reviews I read of this were glowing, but my experience with it hasn't been good. Blu-rays look and sound mostly excellent, and DVD sound is very good as well, but the upscaling of DVD picture is so bad that you'll be considering trading all of your DVDs up to Blu-ray or digital, pretty much instantly. Characters and scenery break up outside of close-up shots, and the close-ups are very harsh and strange-looking. I also get a weird shimmy in some images, sometimes a blurry swath across the screen -- and so on. Blu-rays look just as good on my old PS3, and DVDs are much better, so I'm wondering why I even bothered. There must be a TV this machine works well with, but it's not mine.

I really like Sony products, but this one is frustrating. It will randomly freeze up in the middle of a movie and I will have to unplug it from the wall and re-set it to continue. This unit is replacing the UBP-800 that I have that was doing the same thing. Curious why this wasn't fixed in the new model. However, when it works, it is great. If this issue gets resolved with an update, I will move this to 5 stars if possible.

System wasn’t set up and plug and play. Front speakers hang easy.
