This player paired with no problem with my Sony amp and television. The picture quality is excellent and upscaling is great, at least for my DVD's. The unit is quiet enough that I am not bothered by the spinning disk. The remote is good.

Well made and it works well with all dvds, blueray, and 4K. Great picture quality.

Solidly built component that plays the majority of dvd/cd formats. As noted by others, it would be nice to have a small digital screen while playing audio cds so you don’t need to turn on the tv. For me, I’m not sure the next level of players is worth the return on investment especially with this model being a third of the price. Not knocking the quality of other players only that Sony has this model at a fair price point for the options it comes with.

My new Sony 4K UHD Blu-Ray player replaces an older Blu-Ray DVD player that did was not 4K. This new Sony 4K player is an excellent value. My only criticism is that it could use more streaming services.

Very well built and can play pretty much any kind if audio/ video disk made. I am using this primarily for a 2 channel music system using a computer monitor to act as the on screen display ( although music DVD's and Youtube music videos also show up when playing. The minus 1 star is for Sony really missing the boat on what it could be as a streamer. Comes with 3 apps ( Netflix, Amazon Video and Youtube) and no provision to download more. My 6 year old Samsung BluRay player has a lot more apps loaded by default and a store where you can download more. With the quality of the DAC this thing has, the ability to play High Rez audio n PCM or DSD mode, this would be a killer streamer if they added Tidal, Qobuz, Deezer and Amazon Music HD apps. If the missing ability does not impact how you use it, this is a 5 Star player.

I was mainly looking for the audio capabilities in this unit combined with the massive framework and weight that gives it stability. I've been using Sony Blu-ray players for several years now in order to play SACDs, DVD-Audio and Blu-ray audio discs in surround sound. The units were so lightweight that they slid when I just tried to push in the disc tray. This new unit plays all the audio formats that I need from it, and it's like a rock--it doesn't budge while I'm closing the tray, and I'm sure that also translates into less vibration during playback. The 4k is just a bonus for me, but since I've got it now, I went ahead and bought four discs. They do look great and Blu-ray discs also look great on it.

This bluray is the latest version with Dolby Vision and HDR10 for incredible viewing detail and accuracy. It comes with high-resolution audio, Dolby Atoms and DSEE HX. This is the best bluray to listen to music in high quality formats.

Easy To Set up and use. Doesn't take up much room and upscales to 4K video

I’ve had the original X800 for years and never had any issues with it whatsoever. Never used it as a streaming player and don’t plan on using this one that way either so I won’t comment on that at all. As far as playing 4k , Blu-ray, or DVD discs, this thing is tops. Solid, heavy build, and great looks. Replaced my original in the main room with this and moved the original to the bedroom. Highly recommended.

great integration with my sony oled tv. Very happy with the performance and ease of use. Sony quality as a really good black Friday price. One caveat is you need to manually enable the dolby vision settings when watching dv content. This could be a deal breaker for some. Just an observed annoyance.

I have no need to utilize the streaming functions. The video playback is excellent, far superior to its predecessor which was a standard HD player. The picture and sound are significantly better in all aspects than any streaming service I use.

I bought this player mainly because I have a high end audio system and want the ability to play SACD, DVD Audio and other hi-res audio formats. It is setup in a two channel system connected to a stand-alone digital to analog converter and a Vizio P-series 65 inch UHD TV. The functionality of this player is outstanding. It loads quickly. SACD, DVD Audio, Blu-Ray audio and good old Redbook CD play seamlessly with no need to toggle into settings when you change formats. The on-screen menu allows for reasonably quick adjustment of both audio and video settings. The need for manual switching for Dolby Vision is a hassle, but since I am primarily interested in audio, I don't mind. My one complaint is it lacks a 12V trigger, but this feature is not available on most other players in this price range. My main entertainment center is a 5.1 system and I am strongly considering this player for it.

I bought this Sony 4K Blu-ray player to pair with my Samsung 65 in 4K tv and couldn't be more pleased! Great quality, features and ease to setup and use. Great player for the price and works great with my TV

Has a known issue with switching layers on 4ks. Freezing during the transition.

Perfect for HiRes Audio. Purchased since it will play SACD and DVD-Audio disks (older formats) for multi-channel surround sound music. Audio sounds fantastic and this device can play multi-channel and hi-res audio in almost any format. Have been enjoying playing Bluray Audio and older DVD-Audio discs. I do not use this player to play movies or videos. Only negative so far is that the remote is not the greatest. For the intended use (only audio) it is a bit expensive. But for SACD and DVD-Audio the alternatives are limited. For playing audio, works perfectly and sounds incredible.

I play CDs on it and they have amazing fidelity. Plus it can play various forms of HI Fi music. Results in very clear, like in in the group, in my living room clear. Item was easy to set up and connect with my wifi.

I've had this player for a few months. The picture is amazing. It has all the features I wanted (SACD, Dolby Vision, HiRes audio), super quiet, and came with a couple of movies. Leagues better than my previous Blu-Ray player.

Big upgrade over the Xbox Series X when it comes to 4k Blu-ray payback. The picture is cleaner and shaper with audio having a more expanded soundstage. I have only one negative which would make my score a 4.5/5. The player does have an issue with heat dissipation with extended use as it'll start to freeze video playback. Stopping playback and giving it a few minutes to cool down, it'll play just fine.

Works great! Only issue is that I wish it automatically detected Dolby Vision.
