First unit kept dropping signal. Odd. returned to store for a new one the next day and not a one issue. Works well with my Samsung Q80 series tv. Only wish that I could install user specific apps. Build quality is top notch. Does not feel like a cheap piece of tupperware like the other all plastic players do. Metal chassis all around is solid and well finished. Well done Sony.

I use this 4k bluray player for movies only. While I think streaming is all about convenience, on the other hand physical media still stand for quality. I have watched a few movies now and I was impressed at the quality of video and sound. If you are more into streaming then dont buy it, but if you want to experience true HD/ UHD then I definitely recommend this player.

Very nice picture with my Sony 4K TV. Smooth operation and quite intuitive to use.

Absolutely stark difference between the picture quality of a 4k uhd disc vs streaming. I will only watch streaming for movie that are only available in HD and below. Higher quality confirmed 4k uhd will strictly be played on my player. Im currently using a Sony a8h oled for my display. If you intend on buying this player makes sure your display will do it justice if it doesn't look else where.

I was replacing a 4K player of a different brand with your model and have been nothing but pleased so far, three weeks in. There's great picture and sound quality! The menus are a bit sparse, but that's perfectly okay, as I can get to exactly what I need to without wading through 22 layers of menus. If you're looking for a quality 4K player with SACD support and don't need 3D (and who really does?) this player is definitely worth picking up.

Bought to replace a failed blu-ray player. Easy setup. Phenomenal sound. Unit is solid and heavy and does not look cheap. Only had the player for a week so far but loving it. There are a lot of settings to play around with but haven’t adjusted much of them yet. Not sure about the upscaling. Played a rented DVD and it was blurry so had to turn off that feature. I don’t use the Dolby vision because my Samsung tv doesn’t support it. I was hesitant to purchase this because of the price but I’m happy I finally did.

Works like it was supposed to. I don't have a 4K TV yet . Got the player before the tv. Much better than the one i got from amazon. The Amazon one was a $1 cheaper but was refurbished or open box and didnt day, but didn't even play any type of disk.

Debated whether to upgrade to 4K BluRay, but the urge just surged! Then I started comparing available units my bank to withstand. Had considered LG and less expensive SONY but decided just a slightly greater ticket price for this unit would avail me many more features I will appreciate as my use of 4K expands, just as my upgrade to a Samsung TV from my very serviceable Insignia was an awe inspiring step ! Go for it , my friend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had to retire my last Sony UBP X800 due to unrelenting disc play and ejection issues. I replaced that troubled unit with this: the Sony UBP X800M2. The main menu is still very basic and has only added one additional option. If this unit lasts more than 5 years, I will be happy. The video quality output is impressive for the price point. I am a Sony fan and have always enjoyed years of great product build quality and their tech excellence. Sorry that this review isn’t extensive but I do recommend this 4K player.

Easy to set up and good quality and it works automatically with tv

Whisper quiet operation and its built like a tank. Went with this unit over the Panasonic because of the build quality and it doesn’t disappoint

Probably one of the best BD players I've had. Extremely easy to operate, and everything shows flawlessly.

This is supposedly the best right now. Compared to other Blu ray/4k it is pricey. You do get a lot more though. Paired with a 4kuhd tv things look awesome. Though the verdict is still out on how great. We watched Avatar and it looks super digital, whereas the other 4k bluray player we have it looks normal. I'm not an expert, so I can't say why that's happening, (and don't really care to know). I just want things to look great and not break.

This a a good-quality player with impressive upscaling of HD and SD to present watchable discs on 4K TVs. Plus, it plays CDs, unlike most current- and next-generation gaming consoles. The streaming apps are incredibly limited, only offering Netflix, Prime Video, and YouTube, with no potential to add more.

Beautiful picture, quite as could be, no skipping issues at all.
