Great for 4K movies but to streaming through adding additional apps other than the limited ones it already comes with, such a miss on this one because it is one of the few players with 2 HDMI outputs one for video and one for audio. Nice work around if you have an old receiver but a new tv

I'm not going to waste time doing a pros and cons like I normally do. In the case of this player there is a fatal flaw that in my opinion outweighs any positives. This player has an issue accessing the second layer on a disc when watching longer 4K UHD movies. This means your movie my freeze, stutter, not resume after pausing, or drop out sound. For instance I was watching Everything, Everywhere, All at Once and paused the movie to get a drink. I was past half way into the movie and into the second layer of data on the disc. When I came back and pressed play the player didn't respond. Nothing I did could get the player to move past where I had paused. I know it's more expensive but you'd be better off saving more and getting the Panasonic UB820.

Seems to be a great player. I wish that manufacturers would give more audio options. Such as rca outputs. This item has 2 options hdmi with audio and digital optical. Luckily i can run the optical through a converter into my equalizer.

I love the new features, the slick design, and the easy set up, the picture quality is outstanding, Sony is the only way to go

I finally purchased an LG OLEDTV and waiting to have it delivered and installed. The Sony 4K blue ray player is still in the box. I didn’t want to use it until I got a new tv. The other TV’s were not smart TVs. I could have used it since it is a smart 4K blue ray player but I didn’t. Can’t wait for my tv to be installed. Wish I didn’t have to wait until the second week in February to get it installed. I bought it a week ago. But I never had a bad Sony product !

Sony has up graded this player years and this one has been better than the last .

I bought this to replace my 10 year old Samsung Blu-ray player. Its a great device works great with my Sony 4K TV. I read some Amazon reviews which said that this device was not manufactured well with a feeling of plastic and cheapness. I don't see or feel any of that and even though its still very new, it has all the options and quality I need. I am more enthused now then when I researched. Lets see if this feeling continues over the years I plan to use...

It plays a good picture and the Dolby Vision is a noticeable improvement... just remember to turn it on when watching UHD movies.

Detailed display. Detailed Variety of video and audio settings Custom video settings are very detailed, but easy, an audiophiles dream. Picture quality is on par if not better than the belatted, but reference OPPO 203 which is really saying something. The Sony 800M2 is an excellent choice for any audiophile.

The Sony UBP-X800M2 is just awesome! No more freezing problems like the cheaper models. I liked it so much that I had to buy my Mom one as well. All her movies now look even much better. This thing is heavy duty not feather weight like other cheap models. Works great!!!

This is the second one I've purchased; and both are working perfectly. Highly recommend this model and Sony is very reliable. It works great with 4K, Blu-Ray, DVD, or CD.

The Sony 4K DVD Player does well with my 4K projector. The experience is a whole different level than regular DVD players.

Wonderful 4k player. only un-great thing is the manual selection of Dolby Vision as it does not automatically identify and change

I love the picture and it goes with my tv great. Easy to use. I had problems with the older version, but this one has been great.

This player has EXCELLENT audio and video qualities. It even offers quick access to Youtube and even Netflix. One very important tip, you should go into the settings options and play around with the audio settings. If you only use the default setting, it may not be the best settings for your setup. So spend a few minutes in the settings menus, especially to change around the audio options.
